  1. SAS now coming on ESPN 1000 to talk about fact Bulls are still in it. Interesting given how they were out of it per SAS a couple days back. Usually people tend to stick to their story unless good info comes the other way. Maybe there is some truth to this.
  2. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 08:20 AM) Me thinks SAS is just milking a little more out of this story. Melo is staying in NY. I do love Gage's posts though. They make me happy. He probably is, but this is still best place. Somehow Bulls got to get that S&T option engrained in Melo's camp and that it is realistic.
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 08:15 AM) Who is SAS? Stephen A Smith.
  4. Sun-Times Basketball ‏@suntimes_hoops 1m Outside shot has been lethal, but explosiveness at the rim is way ahead of where he was in training camp last year. #DRoseReturns Sun-Times Basketball ‏@suntimes_hoops 2m This just in - extra body bags sent to the Berto because DRose is killing people. Sure, it's rooks and young guys, but no answer for Rose.
  5. SAS was on Mike and Mike and said that when the report came out from Isola, he got a call and was told to hold your horses, Bulls still in play...Carmelo still considering Bulls.
  6. My plan is as follows (if no Melo): S&T Boozer for Gasol at 7M. We get a TPE and the Bulls trade Boozer (plus a pick or something) for Gasol(signed at 7million) + TPE? That TPE + Dunleavy (unless they prefer Snell) in a S&T for Lance Stephenson (~10-11M per for 4 years). Then sign Mirotic to the MLE and go with DJ Augsustin or Ramon Sessions at the BAE. Bring back Kirk at a veteran minimum. Call it a day. Note: I've seen mixed things on trading a TPE + a player in a S&T. Some things I've read say you can, others say you can't. That would be a deep team with some good shooting. Ideally we'd have one more proven shooter but DJ, Mirotic, McBucketts all good shooters. Lots of depth in the post game, which should hopefully minimize Noah's minutes. Great defense on the wings. Stephenson will be a signficant upgrade to defense. Pau provides us with a nice post game and provides a great role model for Nikolai. Oh and we also have Snell still, who looks like he should be a good shooter and Thibbs has continued to praise his work ethic. Hopefully he makes some strides. Hard part is spacing will be limited with our starting lineup with Rose, Lance, Jimmy Buckets, Taj, and Noah. However, throughout the game significant options of guys that could come in and open up the spacing with Gasol, Mirotic, Dougie McBuckets, Snell, and DJ (plus even Hinrich who I think will be fairly productive as a 3rd stringer with more limited minutes). That is a team that could contend, imo, and a team with a lot of young assets that we'd have going forward as well (which is a major plus).
  7. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 07:38 AM) I heard on the radio this morning that he was under contract with Houston for 900k for another year. THEY allowed him to become a restricted FA. And now they're either going to lose him or pay him 14-15 million/year. What a dumb ass move. Yep; However, I think they did this alternative because they figured he'd get his fair contract and then they would match him anyway. They are going to match. Just shortens the window to 3 days that they have this other cap room for Bosh before his cap hold jumps another 13M.
  8. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 07:14 AM) Not sure if Gasol and Ariza will be an upgrade over Boozer and Deng we had for the past 3 and 1/2 years. I'd rather target Born Ready and another backup defensive big rather than Gasol to give Mirotic more playing time Ariza doesn't sound like a good idea to me. He's been good in all of 2 years, being contract years.
  9. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 04:42 AM) They didn't have to. Rodon wasn't going to turn down $6M to go back to college, and if he was going to turn down $6M then he's an idiot and I don't want him. It isn't so much just this signing as the precedent it sets. Now that the Sox have gone over slot once, every first round pick from now on is going to expect it. Setting a bad precedent. Situations are different. This was the consensus #1 for most of the year and many still pegged him as that. Different circumstances. Every negotiation is unique.
  10. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:04 PM) "More than 6.45 million" Fantastic. I really don't care. A few hundred grand more or less, doesn't mean a difference to me and doesn't impact the Sox long-term either. Glad this got done and timing seems good as it means Rodon got a nice little break and now can slowly get worked in and get his feet wet. Unlike most, I still expect him to spend most, if not all of next year in the minors.
  11. Broussard / Wojo saying meeting just ended. Broussard says no decision made yet.
  12. https://twitter.com/10TVNEWS/status/4869827...2477056/photo/1 No clue if true or not.
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 02:57 PM) Kobe Bryant having a live press conference coming up now. It is related to a charity thing he is doing.
  14. ESPN continues to report no deal done. KC says Bulls have not been informed that Melo has made a decision.
  15. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 01:54 PM) Still waiting on that legit source to confirm the report. No one has confirmed anything yet. Lots of misinformation. Might be real, might not. Real GM makes our board look so good. I thought Soxtalk overreacted but I've never seen anything quite like them.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 01:51 PM) No coach, Kobe, nothing else around them, but the ability to offer like $8 mil more a year. That should be irrelevant. I could see if the options were only Bulls / Lakers, but Knicks can offer significantly more and have a brighter future outlined for them. But if the option was money....clearly Knicks...if it was talent, Bulls is fine...plus you could work S&T for Laker / Bulls money to be the same anyway.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 01:43 PM) And she needs clicks since LA is literally not in the news whatsoever She is a good local reporter but LA centric and I think the Lakers are dropping all kinds of reports to make themselves relevant and make people sound like their organization has it together again. That is all. I don't for one second believe the Lakers were the 2nd choice for Melo. If somehow that is true and the Bulls were the 3rd destination, people should lose jobs. Cause with this roster if you lose to a team with no coach, Kobe, and nothing else around them, that is just sad.
  18. This ain't ever yet fellas. Stay patient peeps.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 11:43 AM) I would expect the Sox to explore this ASAP. My presumption is a contender comes to him as well and maybe he considers that, otherwise would be surprised if the Sox / him didn't see a nice fit. He could be a good mentor for Nieto too, imo.
  20. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 11:43 AM) He don't have a whole lot left in the tank, but it's certainly more than Flowers has. Exactly.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 11:37 AM) AJ Pierzynski DFA. Let it begin... And for good reason. There is absolutely zero reason we shouldn't at least make an offer to him. I think he'll find his way to a contender as a back-up, but still, no reason not to at least reach out to him. It isn't like Flowers is some guy of the future. I'd rather have AJ around working with Nieto then Flowers.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 11:30 AM) Well, couldn't he announce Bulls just like LeBron did with the Heat? Dan Gilbert swore up and down he'd never let LeBron get his money by participating in a sign-and-trade. LeBron announced Miami, then Cleveland did the deal (because you gotta get something). If Carmelo wants to be signed-and-traded to the Bulls, then he'd just announce he's chosen the Bulls. Then the deal gets made. Of COURSE the Knicks would take Boozer to get a couple of 1sts and Mirotic. It'd make no sense not to. So, if he really wanted to come to Chicago, which I'm growing increasingly doubtful, he could just so easily announce it and still know he's getting paid. Could, but I think he does want to get paid where as Lebron truly didn't care. He was going no matter what and I don't know that Melo necessarily is 100% that way, that is why he'll play more of the leverage. Either way, I think Chicago is where he's headed, as long as Bron Bron really is going back home to Cleveland. If not, we are toast, but we are a Lance Stephenson signing (+ Nik) or other potential moves from being right there with the Heat as the best team in the East. Either way...moot point...Melo is coming. And I just got an offer for free lunch at work from some old consultants...even sweeter. When I get back maybe there is some news! Thank goodness I've been on a lot of conference calls the past few days.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 11:27 AM) Pretty valid point. W/Lebron on board, they'd have done better then Riley has done. Probasketballdraft ‏@Probballdraft 58s For the naysayers if LeBron was coming back to Miami he would be recruiting free agents instead of staying silent. #ignoranceisbliss Also to a similar point; If Bulls had received any sort of indication from Melo they were out, we'd have heard them moving on to a few different more significantly priced plan B's. Instead all we have heard is Pau and then the fact that they at least made interest with some lower priced guys (who wouldn't really be impacted regardless of their plan). Reality is Bulls feel they have a chance too and the lack of any other scenario's points that out. And before someone goes well Pau is that guy, yes he might still be that guy, but he's also of interest to Melo, potentially. If we do a S&T we will have the BAE and MLE and that MLE can be used on Nik or Pau. If Melo wants someone more experienced, we use it on Pau (plus it then frees Nik up if Phil really does need a better asset to sweeten the deal). Everything we have done thus far has been with one thing in mind...sweet sweet Carmelo and it will happen my friends...it will happen!!!
