  1. Who the heck could we be grabbing? I can't think of any big name guys out there. Would the Indians deal us Carmona? Are we about to acquire Prince Fielder for Hudson and other pitching? Please tell me Bautista isn't the guy we are gonig to get? All I know is, if we trade Huddy for a bat, Kenny won't be done and than we have to wonder what pitcher is on its way. The one thing I like about getting a pitcher like Jackson is that I think he could be effective in the post-season, when power pitching becomes more king. I just wish we would be able to acquire him without giving up Huddy, thus allowing the Sox to package Huddy for a big bat.
  2. Sounds like Huddy is gone. I wonder what we get. We have to get a pitcher if we move Hudson (even if he is moved for a bat). There is absolutely no one in our organization that could fill that rotation spot.
  3. We might as well have went after Oswalt or Haren.
  4. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 07:57 AM) Not so much: BNightengale #mlb # If deal gets done, the White Sox would send Daniel Hudson and prospect for Jackson, and take on Jackson's entire $8.75 million salary 1 minute ago via web The D-Backs are in no position to include cash. What the heck. This really just doesn't make sense, unless the Sox somehow think very lowly of Dan Hudson. And if they do, I think that is a mistake.
  5. I have to imagine, if the Sox did give up Hudson, we would be getting some decent amounts of cash back.
  6. I'm completely confused. I don't see how we would trade Huddy plus prospects for Edwin Jackson. I"ve long liked Jackson, but I'd be the first to admit that you have to be concerned at how Arizona over-worked him on the no-hitter as well as the fact that stastically he has never reached his potential. Does he have great stuff, absolutely, but can he pitch, not exactly great. Would he look good in our rotation, certainly, but not at the expense of Hudson. Hudson could get us better pieces. And I will say this, I'd rather keep Jackson than go out and spin Jackson for Dunn if it meant adding additional prospects, unless of course Kenny has some brilliant deal lined up for another starter. I'm curious to find out what Kenny has cooking? I wonder if it is Andre Ethier.
  7. Uh oH....I might have spoken too soon. Could be a good time to go to the pen.
  8. Quentin is at his best on pitches down in the zone. A major bright spot tonight is that Garcia has shown good velocity and is pitching a good game. We needed that after a couple rought starts. As I type that, Kochman smokes a double.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 06:35 PM) Ugh. How many DPs is that tonight? 3? Rios = 2 Quentin = 1
  10. Nope...he seemed to be seeing the ball well tonight, but hit into a DP after some ferocious hacks.
  11. Were going to spin Adkins for Lincecum. I can feel it. And than trade Huddy for Ethier, who evidently the Dodgers are potentially listening to offers for.
  12. Easily one of the worse trades Kenny has ever made. I realize at the time the compensation was in question, but we traded Ray Durham for Adkins (who had horrendous minor league numbers) and than the A's received valuable picks.
  13. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 06:20 PM) I love how they still play Your Love whenever Beckham gets a hit. I love how we are hearing it more and more as of late.
  14. Its so nice to have Gordon hitting. I'm really glad the Sox stuck with him, despite all of us at different poitns in time thinking it was time to send the kid down.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 06:15 PM) Completely agree Hell, outside of Quentin in RF, we have one of the best defenses in all of baseball, imo. I think with Jones in RF we do have the best defense in the majors.
  16. Castro freaking killed that. Probably the hardest hit ball I've ever seen him hit.
  17. My eyes tell me Omar is pretty freaking good over at 3B.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 06:09 PM) But you're trading for a guy who will play here 2 months and then leave. As I've talked about before, if the Sox aren't willing to break the bank for draft picks, then supplemental picks are likely to be easy college signs. I'm ok with that. I'll take the picks. I only say this because i think both Viciedo and Flowers have some major flaws. FLowers has a long swing, despite massive power, where as VIciedo has massive offensive skills, but does lack good discipline which could limit his offensive effectiveness. Basically put, neither fit to me in the elite prospect group so I'd take a Dunn and the picks and move on. I highly doubt we will end up with that. I just don't like the idea of moving Hudson, especially with the dearth of pitching prospects we have in our system.
  19. If we acquire a big left handed bat, it will be Viciedo who heads back down to the minors. The question is will Kotsay be DFA'd when Teahen comes back.
  20. I have thought about it and I'd endorse a trade with Viciedo and Flowers for Adam Dunn. I question where Viciedo will play defensively and despite our current struggles at the DH position don't see a ton of difficulty in finding a decent DH. Hence, I don't feel as though we should put a significant premium on Viciedo, even though he might turn into an absolute beat offensively.
  21. I wonder if Torres has been traded.
  22. They didn't pull him for a value standpoint. If he was pulled, it is either an injury or the possibility of a trade. I think if I were a team out of contention I wouldn't mind getting a Carlos Torres who might actually turn into a relatively solid innings eater at the back of your rotation or a long reliever.
  23. Mariners going to the pen early. Bringing in a lefty to face Kotsay.
