  1. Rumor for a Bulls/Portland/Utah 3 way trade. There are fillers but this is the gist of the rumors: Bulls get Boozer, Trade Hinrich, Tyrus, 1st rounder
  2. This is shaping up to be a fun 2nd half. Now fans get your ass out there, the club is finally performing!!!
  3. First off welcome aboard. I would hope we get Morgado, Thompson, and Jones signed. Thompson sounds promising and given he was a comp pick it would be a big mistake if we didn't get him signed (as we would not get another draft pick if he didn't sign). Morgado is a very high upside arm and again a high pick. Not the greatest production but I'd love to have him in here cause his stuff is impact stuff. Goodwin and Dane Williams (a guy you didn't list) are unlikely signing but it would be good if we got one of Jones/Goodwin/Williams and great if we got two, stellar if we got three.
  4. QUOTE (baseball17 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 04:40 PM) What's going on with charlie leesman? His numbers seem pretty good, I wonder why he hasn't moved to WS I think he'll be promoted shortly. He might be the best arm in Kanny. Yes, I'd be tempted to put him over Dex Carter although Carter has a really live arm too. Leesman's is just from the left side. Either way both are guys to watch.
  5. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 05:25 PM) I think this is a big part of not hating the deal, but seriously, Pena is mediocre. Allen could have been in a bigger package or certainly netted you a better overall player than a 27-year-old reliever with average numbers. Relievers have a lot of trade value. Especially ones with set-up man stuff. I do think the Sox would have been better off using Allen in a bigger trade to net us a young corner outfielder though. But one of Phegley/Flowers/Viciedo will be at 1st long-term and I think two of the three will end up having better major league careers than Allen (if not all 3).
  6. Pena has a great arm and Allen was overrated by a lot of people. Sox have a lot of guys that play 1st/3B and Pena is a young guy that fits and can replace one of Dotel/Linebrink. I liked ALlen but didn't love him like others did. Viciedo and Flowers both project much better and one of them will probably end up playing 1B. Plus you have Phegley and there is a guy named Paul Konerko whose been pretty good and still has at least a few good years left. Oh and did I mention 1st baseman aren't that difficult to find in general so again, it isn't that huge of a deal to trade a 1st base prospect unless he's a top 50 spect and Allen isn't that.
  7. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 01:43 PM) Whomever is doing the futuresox twitter updates is doing a splendid job!! Is that you Alex? Its a group of us. Probably 4 people in general. Myself, JPN, Alex, Ozzie, Dan...might be forgetting someone.
  8. He'll get promoted shortly. He's not as mature so I think the Sox are taking things slowly with him.
  9. The Bulls would than probably resign Boozer and than either trade Hinrich or Deng or just have push Salmons elsewhere as that combined with Miller and Tim Thomas expiring contracts would give Chicago enough room to make a run at one of the guards in the 2010 class. Chicago could than of course sign Salmons or Miller using Bird rights but they'd have to be willing to pay luxury tax too.
  10. Boozer is obviously a whole lot better than Tyrus and Jerome James. The key is not preventing ourselves from getting Bosh. A healthy Boozer is a damn good player though, imo.
  11. Did you see what Hinrich did for the Bulls last year. He's a premium defender, a good shooter in a spot-up roll and as a starter is very good. Hinrich was hurt last year and coming off the bench because the Bulls had the #1 pick and in the playoffs Hinrich played a ton of key minutes. And you are comparing one seasons worth of stats. Career stats would differ, big time, and take a poll around the league and everyone will be telling you Hinrich is better. There is a reason he was invited to the USA Basketball Trials for the Olympics a couple years back and was one of the final cuts.
  12. QUOTE (dbaho @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 09:12 AM) Lemme ask this question to Bulls fans.... Would you rather AI or Nate Robinson on a 1 year deal? Neither. Oh and Hinrich is so much better than Blake.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 1, 2009 -> 03:23 PM) They have something similar at the CN Tower in Toronto. It is incredible, and I will be going to do it as soon as it is open. Yep, it was creepy stepping onto it at the CN Tower but totally worth it.
  14. Hillarious since I constantly ripped all the slobbering people did over Beane.
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 10:33 PM) Deng is unmoveable right now in my opinion with his contract, similar situation to what the Hawks have with Brian Campbell (although he might be a bit more realistic to move). Trading Hinrich would be a killer for this year because the backcourt is thin enough, but I think they might deal him anyways for the sake of the summer of 2010. Evidently without Deng the Bulls will be under the cap even if they have Hinrich and Deng under contract. They would just have to renounce the rights to Salmons and Tyrus. The more I think about this the more I think Hollinger is right. The Bulls now have 4 guys who are pretty damn solid that can play the 1 through 3 spots (Hinrich/Rose/Salmons at the 1 and 2), Deng/Salmons at the 3. You still have Brad Miller, etc down low. If Deng comes back and can produce your in good shape. Bulls will bring in a veteran to a 1 yr deal that can be insurance in case any of our guards/wings goes down. Basically put, our glut is over.
  16. Based upon what I've heard, I'm not too sure that he's going to sign. Would suck because he's got a big time left handed arm.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) I'm glad Ben is gone. I firmly believe you can't win a championship with him in your starting lineup, and the Bulls can find much better use of 11 million dollars a year for the next 5 years than Ben Gordon. I know he's a polarizing figure, and I am biased, but good riddance. Have fun in Detroit playing for a team who is going to be stuck in "basketball hell" for a while (playoff team who isn't going any further than that.) Losing Ben will hurt in 2009-2010, but it is for the best in the long run IMO. If I'm the Bulls I think long and hard about finding a way to move Deng and Hinrich for expirings over the next year and making a major push at landing both Bosh and Wade. Or trade for Bosh early and than find enough room to go after Wade.
  18. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 06:43 PM) Today is his first full day off in a while. He came in as a sub for the 16 inning game yesterday. Manager probably wanted to give him an off day, but ended up catching 7 innings. As for the Hudson talk, he sure seems like the kind of prospect Kenny would trade at the deadline. The team is playing well, they are in the race and the rotation has a lot of young guys. Allen would probably make more sense to trade, but Hudson has to have a good amount of value right now. Miguel Gonzalez hit his 2nd HR tonight. He is raking in the Appy League. Kenny watched every minute of the Hudson start that I saw in spring training and him and Buddy looked quite pleased with what they saw. I don't think they will just be giving up Huddy.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 06:15 PM) Hudson and Flowers have separated themselves from the rest of the pitchers/position players regarding being our top prospects. Jordan Danks is still very close. He's such an elite athlete, however, Flowers is really climbing up the boards quickly. Right now I'd probably have him as the 3rd best catching prospect in the minors. Posey being #1 and the Yanks Masher #2 (who might not stick at C), with Flowers at 3.
  20. Gordon made them solid but he didn't put him over the top. Losing him forces the Bulls to be serious at getting a start next to DRose. The question is if they'll be able to do that. Hopefully they can cause without Ben the playoffs will be tough (unless other guys make big steps forward). That said the Bulls might be worse off the next year or two but better off down the road. Gordon is a f***ing great scorer though with a great attitude who got better each and every season. I say good luck Ben Gordon and thanks for helping Chicago get back to mediocrity (cause it was a lot better than that s*** of the late 90's early 2000's)!!!!
  21. Sounding like BG is going to be a Piston.

QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 11:31 AM) I'm watching MLB Networks Classic Seasons for 1993 (and thankfully they didn't just ignore the Sox) and at one point Rick Peterson is talking and under his name it says "White Sox Minor League Coach" I seriously don't ever remember hearing he was hired in our system. Is it true? Haha If so, where in the system is he coaching? I assume it is an old video and that he was once one of our minor league pitching coaches.
  23. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 11:42 AM) Southsider, I would trade JD for Matt Cain straight up. Not gonna happen but what the heck. May even throw in a AA prospect for SF. Pitcher that is. They can have Omogrosso (AAA). A deal where the Sox got Cain would be huge. They would have to give up a whole lot more than Dye though. My guess is it would have to be a 3 team deal where the sox gave up some prospects to help the Giants get another piece they'd want. The Sox would than have to swing a deal for a good OF bat.
  24. Couldn't the Hawks stick Huet in the minors if they really needed to?
