  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 11:01 AM) No, that's not it at all. The penalty would be for not being insured at all. Doesn't matter if it's through the private or public system to me. Well, those I-Phones are more important to buy and have plans for then health insurance. Think about it.
  2. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 07:52 AM) No one said welcome to soxtalk...I remember feeling very hurt and unaccepted. This is the best response...here is your get out of jail free card sir. Oh sure. I go to all the trouble and HE gets the card? Plllluuuuhhhese. And I KNOW that was your first post (at least on this version of forums), without going through all that junk.
  3. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 02:43 PM) For anyone that can find my first post I will issue you a get out of jail free card. I am f***ing tired of looking for it. Imagine this - note the topic... We should have known then what kind of poster we had on our hands. Oh how enlightening it was... http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...t&p=1271809
  4. I only want enough to pay my college loans and my house off. The rest I'd invest.
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 11:28 PM) I'm not blaming anything on anybody, I'm just saying the fact that a filibuster or the threat of a filibuster being automatic makes the statement that the minority party has zero control inaccurate. Otherwise the Democrats would just be ramming through whatever they wanted. They're pretty much worthless in the House but they can still kill legislation in the Senate if they want to. Or they can just pretend they'll kill legislation and not really do it, same effect. They are.
  6. QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 08:31 PM) Sorry . . . But at least you just ask if the board's down, not that you get unbanned.
  7. I got IM'd by three different people this time when we moved servers. Can you unban me please? WTF?
  8. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 07:44 PM) I realize I was wrong and tried to add some comic relief... I guess it didn't work. Um, ok, I got it now. Shut up!?!?!
  9. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 07:41 PM) Shut up. Dude, seriously, get real. If you're going to mock crap, at least have your facts right.
  10. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 07:35 PM) As south park clearly stated... if it wasn't for us pro-war people, America would be viewed as a bunch of pussies. However, as south park also stated, if it wasn't for you anti-war people, America would be viewed as a bunch of mad, gun crazy assholes. It actually is a perfect balance. That's the most sensible post ever.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 07:36 PM) Of course it's bunk. Its working, but I totally agree it's bunk. It must be a cold day in hell. This is twice today.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 07:31 PM) If the goal of TARP was to convince everyone that the government will do whatever it takes to keep the banks alive, it's worked. Well, yea. I guess. But it's bunk.
  13. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 07:33 PM) It would also make the dollar and the gold standard not matter. You do realize that is where we're heading towards, right? I think that's part of the deal here.
  14. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 07:31 PM) Fine, but you now know this means war.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 07:26 PM) I found it funny. And there's a lot of speculation that exactly this is going to happen, funny or not. Maybe Michele Baughmann (or whatever the hell her name is) can join her. What a circus act that would be.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 07:27 PM) Frankly, it'd be the right move. Well, I agree, and I disagree. Wages, employment, and all of that is running down, yet, our costs of things are starting to run back up. That's the issue. In the short term, we are going to see a deflationary period - followed by VERY sharp inflation. I don't see a long term deflationary cycle, except in the wages and employment areas.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 07:10 PM) I think you are confusing TARP, which went to banks, and the Stimulus bill, which did not. In this case, it's pretty much the same. Wasted.
  18. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 05:46 PM) John Weaver, close McCain confidant, "We've seen some nutty things from governors in the past few weeks, but this takes the top" or something like that. He basically called her nutty. And this tells you why she's leaving. No matter what she does, she will be "nutty, stupid, an airhead, etc.". They have been smearing this woman from day one. Note: I don't like her, but they've smeared the s*** out of her at every step.
  19. Someone's got some juicy crap on her and told her to get lost. Obama?
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 04:00 PM) Quite frankly, there should be penalties for people who don't join in the system. That's the whole point of universality. You can't have people opting out when they're young and then opting in when they're old. It breaks the system. Oh goodie. Yet another mandate from our federal government. Pretty soon they are going to tell us when it's ok to take a s***. Oh wait, they already do that - 1.7 liters of water, anyone?
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 01:54 PM) So let's see...we shrink the stimulus because we need to get the Republicans on board, weaken it by switching a good chunk of it to poorly stimulative tax cuts, cut out the aid to the states (which is among the most effective parts), and it's too bad we didn't do it correctly so that we had some bullets left? The only reason we don't have any bullets left and that we cut out the effective part is that we tried to get a couple of the "Hoover was right!" crowd on board...and we'd have a good number of bullets left if we didn't have to listen to that crowd too. Bond yields are still very low, the Fed interest rate is still at zero and the Fed is still attempting its "Quantitative Easing" policy of trying to push us back the other way by buying up those bonds. And I've been screaming for years that the unemployment rates as presented are garbage and have been for years. Y'all didn't listen to me when it was just the media trying to make Bush look bad by saying the wonderful economy was worse than it really was (look at the increase in people's total wealth thanks to real estate appreciation! The economy is great!) The number of people not counted by U3 has been going up steadily since the early 1980's as the government finds more reasons to exclude people from the numbers to make them look better. U6, the measure counting unemployed, out of the labor force, and underemployed is closing in on 17%. Yet again, Republicans bad on all things. THEY MADE THE DEMS f*** UP THE STIMULUS! The stimulus doesn't spend the money until next year, mainly. Why? Because that's election time.
  22. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 01:18 PM) I'm just saying it will be used as a partisan attack piece. You of all people should recognize that what Obama said during the election campaign may not become reality once he became President. Can you provide link for that quote too? That's laughable dude. So he LIED about that? LMAO. Please. Google the San Fransisco Chronicle interview from January 17, 2008 - the one about him going to bankrupt the coal industry. It's in there.
  23. QUOTE (ObamaKnowsBest @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 09:24 AM) Tried that. I know how to change it, it's just not working. Says this....The upload failed. Please contact a member of staff to help rectify the problem I will check into this... the permissions appear to be right, so I'm not sure what's making it fail.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 12:08 PM) Was that Kaperbole? Were you actually agreeing with me and Krugman? I can't tell. I'm agreeing with you.
  25. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 11:09 AM) No way your electricity bill will skyrocket. Maybe over 50 years but not at all in the short term. But that video will be a great partisan attack piece to use. And I would really like to see where in the House bill it says that you could be stopped from selling your home. The bill hasn't even passed anyway. Oh, and lol about those lights. I've got them in every room in my house and they last bloody forever. Barackus the Great told us - HIS WORDS. It's not a "PARTISAN ATTACK PIECE". "...uhhh, you know, under my plan, uh, of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket." - Barackus the Great on the campaign trail. So, is he partisan attacking his own plan? From the bill amendments: Now sure, it doesn't EXPLICITLY say that, but if it doesn't meet the "energy requirements" that are set, a person will not sell their home.
