  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 12:52 PM) Quite simply, you're wrong. The science is politically charged...because the natural conclusions of that science are going to cost a lot of very powerful people a lot of money. Basically that is the only reason there is "Debate" on this. The science about whether greenhouse gas emissions are driving a warming trend that will be bad for man is in, and has been for years. The Scientific community really has moved on to looking at things like mitigation and what the impacts of the changing climate on parts of the earth will be (did you know that melting ice caps will cause a decrease in volcanism at the mid-oceanic ridges?) And really, you're also wrong on how the government works. People are allowed to have legitimate disagreements on the best way to make policy going forwards, and people are going to disagree on bills. Were the Bush Tax cuts bad because Bush had to whip hard to get them through, and then did so in reconciliation where the Dems couldn't filibuster? Was the Patriot Act good because it was 99-1 in favor of it? And the opposite is true of the bolded part as well.
  2. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 08:41 PM) I only know one, and he ain't bad... but he's still a democrat, so I naturally hate him However, otherwise, I'm done. I'll believe in a good politician when I see one. Every day you find out about another cheating/lying/stealing politicians and it's getting really old. And there are plenty more with a lot of smoke around them, and you know the old saying. Plus, you can't forget about the completely, insanely, idiotic ones. I've given up. There seems to be more corrupt politicians who want to pass their own agendas and help themselves rather than doing their jobs and serving the people! MOST local politicians are pretty solid. The national dorkasses? Hell no, MOST of them are assballs floating in the toilet that is Washington DC.
  3. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 04:12 PM) If done the wrong way. I'm thinking that current plan will die before the bill comes out. I could be wrong. We can only hope. The only thing I can agree with is pre-existing stuff - but you can get coverage on non-preexisting and that preexsiting clause usually expires after six months anyway.
  4. I'm glad "tax and kill" passed the house...
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) By the way, I'm sorry but I just have to. Rush Limbaugh Yesterday blamed Sanford's affair on sorrow relating to, I'm sure you guessed it...Obama. Michael Savage...of course, one-upped it today. People actually believe and listen to this. By the millions. Anyway, sorry, I just had to. They were just too damn ridiculous. These guys can't keep their peckers in their pants (outside of their marriage) and that's Obama's fault? What bulls***. However, there is a word called satire that a lot of people here don't seem to get regarding any comment like this.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 09:02 AM) I'm looking around at articles on the health care bill right now, and not seeing this. I would highly doubt they would do this. What is your source? And if you are right that it is being proposed, you are also right in that it would never pass. This has been the rumor all along, my bet is this is a trial balloon to see how much flack they will get. Also, if this health plan is the BEST THERE IS, then why are senators, representatives, and the president exempt from it? If they legislate this healing pile of s*** on us, they need to live in the same health care system.
  7. QUOTE (EvilMisquoter @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 07:39 AM) I was starting to choke my chicken.
  8. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 25, 2009 -> 11:58 PM) When Soxtalk goes down, celebrities die. That is all. And Kap almost died due to high blood pressure. I was about ready to kill some "support" people.
  9. How about that CWS MVP Jared Mitchell, anyway?!? The guy's got talent.
  10. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 25, 2009 -> 11:37 PM) That was brutal. You're telling me.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 25, 2009 -> 11:36 PM) It is and on a much faster machine!!! We hope. Wait until everyone floods this bastard tomorrow.
  12. One bug I'm sure that we will have is uploading of avatars and signatures and things like that. If we can make it through the weekend without that, I will fix it as I'm travelling this weekend.
  13. I can definitely post updates to that. Right now, we are absolutely going nowhere on the install of all the other sites. I saved soxtalk for last... so at this point I don't have an ETA on when things will go down.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 02:40 PM) I don't get the joke...everyone in washington is blind? Yea. I guess it wasn't funny. I better go back to Letterman's writers and tell them they suck. It's the saying "the blind leading the blind" in DC... Bud dump bump bu.... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzt (fizzle).
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 02:34 PM) I think that by court ruling our money actually has been determined to be broke, because the blind have no way of knowing what denomination they're holding if everything is the same size. I think the reason they're constantly trying to add color has to do with the difficulty of copying it as well, which would be another type of broke-ness. No one in Washington has any money?
  16. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 01:22 AM) One important question... will the clock be fixed (working right now, actually)!?!? Nevermind.
  17. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 11:12 PM) This is where us bleeding hearts have one up on "family values" conservatives. Since we're always apologizing for everything anyway, forgiveness is much easier to get. So true. That's a good one.
  18. UPDATE: We've ran into some issues - which means our original timeline is pushed back a day at this point. Soxtalk will be on line until tomorrow afternoon, most likely, and we're hoping for an ETA of Tuesday morning of being completely moved.
  19. This is where the GOP steps in their s*** all the time. They want to be the "moral" party because of their evangelical ties, and what they don't get is morality shouldn't be edicted from the government. Humans are immoral beings, period, and the second you start judging another you're in the wrong. Now... I may have issues with a person, but I shouldn't judge them. They could be served this little dose of reality once in a while.
  20. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 10:37 PM) The numbers aren't important. Don't get sucked into arguing about petty crap. Yes, they are, because the "numbers" is why they are trying to force this down our throat.
  21. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 08:16 PM) At this point, who cares? There's MUCH bigger issues the media needs to be covering. Because GOP people are hypocritical douchebags. Haven't you understood this for years now?
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 04:00 PM) 45-50 million are uninsured at any given time, and 80 million go uninsured for at least part of every year. Over 1/4 of the population of the country will spend at least some portion of this year uninsured. And that number could skyrocket given the job losses. How many illegals? How many opt outs? How many actually get insurance and now you're double dipping counts to make it look higher and higher?
  23. It looks like tomorrow we will move, if things keep at the current pace.
  24. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 10:30 PM) what are you talking about? 80 million US citizens have no health coverage? Yea, that number keeps creeping up every few days, it seems.
  25. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 04:20 PM) Well, see, they know that if they really start a revolution, the American military will come rolling in to help out! Which makes perfect sense because 1) We'd actually do that 2) They'd actually want foreign military intervention It was really just someone trying to ad hoc justify the Iraq war still. Um, that's stupid, if someone was trying to say that.
