  1. Maybe. Seriously, it irks me when stuff like this comes up. A media outlet asks him a question - "what do you think the threat level is right now?"... and he says - (paraphrasing)... Al Queda has been known to plan attacks in the summer, and given what just happened over in London and Glaskgow, my gut feeling says that there's a hightened risk right now and we're more vunerable for an attack. WTF is wrong with that? But no,... he's just a stupid, ignorant Bush f***up. THIS is what I'm talking about when talking about "bias" toward anything Bush. This is absolutely not even worth talking about, yet the common theme here from people who can't stand Bush is what a moron Cheurtoff is. He may be a moron, but not for this statement.
  2. Again... he was asked a question in an interview, and he said as much. The whole comment was taken out of context. Mountain out of molehill.
  3. I'm sure that they could release a lot of stuff that would verify his "gut feeling", but then, everyone would say it's "saber rattling" by the Bushies to take the attention off of Iraq. It's true, no matter how you slice it, they're wrong no matter what they say or do. BTW, he was answering a question from the media - and the comments are taken out of context. But remember, he's an idiot.
  4. I like Fred Thompson - a lot. The guy is a straight shooter, something we desparately need. Of course, the Democrat war machine is going to take everything he's done for the past 50 years and regurgitate how much he's a flaming idiot, but meh, it's the same old s***.
  5. QUOTE(maggliopipe @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 09:16 PM) Not so much a word but a phrase, I can't stand 'I could care less'. And it's not just idiots that say it, even intelligent people say it incorrectly. I find myself pulling out the 'scale of caring' on my raised arm (i.e. the elbow=do not care, fingertips=maximal amount of care) to clarify why 'I could care less' is in direct opposition to what they're trying to say. I feel like a real asshole when I do that though, but frankly, I couldn't care less. My concern on this matter can be measured in micro-give-a-s***s, or I could care less.
  6. The announcement sticky above will be edited as we continue obtaining information related to the impending site upgrades.
  7. Wow. I was new to the internet in 1994.
  8. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 02:45 PM) He was helping me.. and well.. you can guess how that worked out. OH...
  9. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 01:26 PM) Oh that's nice... Apparently I was gaged last night regarding PM's. You shouldn't have been. We didn't mess with anything on this database last night.
  10. it actually is. if you read the fine print, they are basically trying to shut traditional "right wing" shows down.
  11. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 12:34 AM) That's right. Kap's a prick. Damn straight.
  12. We can tell if you take people's name... so seriously, don't even try it. Ocho, I know you were kidding, but some of you others out there... don't.
  13. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 02:29 PM) Sure why not. I just keep seeing more and more reasons to get rid of this clown. Like this: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19675580/ And I would do the same in his shoes, and it's not illegal. You all just want to hang his ass, and that's more what this is about then anything else. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 02:43 PM) As soon as the Republicans who bemoan her media presence stop making her an issue. You don't see democrats rallying for her, do you? Just a few nut cases, and then the entire right wing. This really is a good point. The only people that go ape s*** over this dingbat is Republicans. However, the truth of the matter is, someone's putting her up to this crap, NSS, and it's to float the "impeachment" stuff again. This is actually a bait and switch.
  14. The 7th entry on that search is Nuke's blog.
  15. Well, we're going to be trying our IT hat(s) over the next few weeks because of the issues that max did bring up (and don't worry, the discussions have been taking place over the last couple of weeks). So, max, your comments are duly noted. In the interim, you can search google for soxtalk threads.
  16. QUOTE(Soxy @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 02:20 PM) Nice! I liked that they also gave a shout out to SLaM. What a delightful well-rounded site we are. Go back to SLaM! Just skiddin'.
  17. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 02:16 PM) I fail to find the humor in this. Why, because you 100% support her position?
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 01:23 AM) If you should have listened to anyone, you should have known better and listened to me! Riggggggggght. Hey, most of us were wrong after the "soxfest" incident.
  19. QUOTE(Soxy @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 09:37 PM) Well, that's pretty much what it means. I think the two parties in this country are so strong they can smear people really effectively. Essentially, the voters have a VERY small choice in who goes into office--the parties hold a much stronger sway. Look at the presidential candidates. Not necessarily what the large voting bloc wants to choose from, but those are our options. I would NEVER have voted for George W. Bush if it weren't for Al Gore or John Kerry. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. If Bill Richardson were to somehow emerge as the nominee, given who has thrown their hat into the ring as of now, he'd get my vote. My personal disdain for "Democrats" are those who cowtow to the party line, much like you're all alluding to. You know, if Ross Perot ran today, I think he'd win, as scary as that is. I used to pass his ranch every day on the way to work. He owns one about two miles up the road from where live. He has buffalo grazing in the pastures... Anyway, back to the subject... the far right and the far left run things now, except for Georgw W., who frankly is in his own little dips*** bubble right now. For as right as I think he was on the war, and I still support the position, because there's no other choice now, he's a total dumbass on just about everything else, and if you notice, the base be damned. For once, the base was right (immigration), but how in the hell do we break this cycle? What's scary is, we have Mrs. Bill Clinton running for president again, and I'm not sure she can be stopped, so the cynicism continues.
  20. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 11:29 PM) You didn't believe me, did you.... Uhhh, nope!
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 09:16 PM) I don't know that I have ever been so happy to see a thread closed in Soxtalk history! And since I was so wrong, I'll close it with I was very wrong, and not afraid to admit it... WTG Sox!
  22. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 10:42 PM) Thanks to Jerry Reinsdorf and Kenny Williams for making me eat my words. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Abso-f***ing-lutely. I was dead wrong. And I'm happy to be so.
  23. I wonder if it really is time for term limits for Congress.
  24. What would it take to really fix politics today and get away from this stuff? By the way, that's a serious question.
