  1. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) I dont have a problem with it. I think if he left the personal attacks/name-calling out of the article, it wouldve been regarded as a better piece in my eyes. Mariotti was making fun of Hawk for not following superstition. He made fun of WGN too. Because he dumbed down his article with the name calling, I just laugh at this ........... move on. Think Jay was bored LMFAO. Now you're on Mariotti's side?
  2. It's a superstition, nothing more. Good grief. So it's 100% Hawk's fault Garcia didn't get the no no? /rolly
  3. Yea, what they have just done is they have totally taken the casual fan out of this. And that was supposed to be the whole point, right? Now, it's a "if you have money" event to see the Sox, and that's a shame. This is the price of success, folks. And I don't like it.
  4. I'll add a comment here. I love it when people hide behind the policies of the site to hide their own agenda. Two things get my dander up. 1- "freedom of speech" posts... just to be clear, "freedom" on this board is what we say it is. You don't like it? Go somewhere else. 2- When someone goes around s***ting all over the Sox, and then hides behind the "personal attack" policy when their posts get singled out. Hell yes, you deserve to get called out. Be careful, though... your POSTS deserve to be called out, not you personally. I have to make that clear. You see, it amazes me how many "fans" we have here who run around and just piss all over these guys. Oh WAIT! Now it's the "we're no less of fans if all we do is criticize!!!!!" crap. You know what? You're not a fan that I would want if I were a player. Be critical, sure. DAY AFTER DAY AFTER DAY AFTER DAY of the same s***? Get the f*** out of my kitchen, because you're not someone worthy of supporting MY team. That's pretty much my feeling on this. It's FINE to be critical of things... but there comes a point where all you are is being a machoistic f***tard to demonstrate the same spew over and over. What the hell purpose is there of saying "oh... when are we going to be eliminated..."? There's not one. I'm as optimistic as they come, and yes, it's frustrating sometimes watching these guys, but you know what? They have my support, at least as much as I can give them being 1,000 miles away. That's the bottom line.
  5. Post here? GP, best of luck... it's not going to be a fun couple of months, but as many have alluded to... take care of yourself for the long haul, and try to not come back too soon, even when you're feeling better.
  6. QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 12:01 PM) Why would they have him as a risk in the first place? From what I have read, seen, heard, the g'ment had him pegged but did not communicate that info out. In reality, airlines see how many people pass their gates daily? Millions? Are they to be held responsible for knowing who possible terroists are? At some point the government has to have better communication with the airlines in nailing these people, no? You're right.
  7. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 10:05 PM) If that was the "real" plane. I've read accounts that the transponder was a red herring. But my guess is, it was a mistake and they have since corrected it. It was (the real plane), it had to be, because he went from Florida, to about over Dallas, then went back Louisana... 15 minutes later, he did his quick bit from Louisiana, then went back on the plane to what ended up Nebraska, but they turned off the transponder after they left Louisiana and was over West Texas, turned north, and poof, it was gone. Now, none of that is available.
  8. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 02:40 PM) There is a terrorism lobby? Poorly worded, but yes, there's defense lobbyists all over the place begging for this war to continue forever and a day. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
  9. QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 09:05 AM) Frank Thomas was a cancer in the locker room and I am glad he is gone. You better back s*** like that up around here. Oh wait, you can't.
  10. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 02:22 PM) Kap, the last time I checked - Balta is a geologist. Not a policeman, elected official, first responder, soldier or counterterrorism expert. He'd have no say in starting a war earlier. Come on Rex. You can tell where people stand. You all act like ANY of us have a true decision in this s***. The truth is, we don't. Not any of us. It's controlled by a small number of people, the American public be damned. And, BTW, the party doesn't matter, it's still controlled by a small amount of people, and not necessarily Americans, either.
  11. I have found this to be a very insightful piece on the REAL issues of Iraq. It's very candid and I think more accurate then most things I have read. What do you all think? Source: Sratfor.com
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 01:56 AM) Only because it hasn't gone on for as long. Because people like you want no part of it.
  13. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 03:38 AM) It's not downplaying it. This anniversary gets me so angry every year because what I see is the politicization of it. What I see is the commercialization of it. And ultimately what I see is the terrorists winning. Terrorists sow terror. That's what they do, by definition. They want us to feel that our way of life is jeopardized by a few thousand people who live in caves - literally. They want us to change the way we do business as a result of what they do to us. If we're fighting for freedom, we ought to be letting people fly on planes with t-shirts that have arabic writing on it. Someone flying two weeks ago was denied that. If we're fighting terror, we shouldn't be diverting planes because someone's Blackberry fell out of their pocket on the last flight. We shouldn't be closing airports for two hours because someone left an empty laptop carrier bag in a returned rental car. All of those things happened today. You can say it's just an abundance of caution, but what it really is, is an abundance of fear. You can't carry Shampoo in your baggage anymore because it might be a liquid explosive? How about screening the cargo that flies underneath the passengers? We don't do that. And that's a much more likely terror possibility. It seems like we do ridiculous, over the top "protections" on our safety - some of which are really a restriction on the freedom we're claiming to fight to protect - and the common sense ones that may bear fruit on a regular basis are never put into place. In my honest opinion, every time our society panics needlessly about a non-existent Rube Goldberg like threat, we cheapen the loss of 3000 lives on September 11th. Every time we ignore real ways to increase our safety without sacrificing the freedoms we claim to defend in place of ridiculous restrictions that bear no fruit, we cheapen the loss of 3000 lives on September 11th. Being free means a certain degree of vulnerability exists. It's the price you pay for freedom - and not understanding that - and giving that freedom up to your government cheapens the loss of 3000 lives on September 11th. You know, I agree with your sentiment... but, what would you have us do? Keep letting those few f***tards who seek to destroy everything the western civilization has become? It's not all roses and candy, but it's certainly the best thing we have in the modern world. So, let's have a few random acts of violence for .0005% of the world's population take out 3000 people every six months or so, just for the sake of "freedom"? A lot of people love to quote Ben Franklin, but what the hell do you do? Having said ALL of the above, the political hackery on both sides of this argument are at best, pathetic, and really just downright shameful.
  14. I've told this before, but working for an airline that day was quite weird in and of itself. The flight ops phone center was going nuts, all the people wanting to know about their loved ones who were flying. Our government ATC rep was there that morning for another meeting. I remember him getting the phone call and he immediately screamed over everyone else "get ALL of your planes on the ground RIGHT NOW"!! Of course, from there, chaos ensued, and I'll never forget watching the flight operations screen, with all the little dots of the planes disappearing by the hundreds within minutes as they landed, save for one... Air Force One. So, because it wasn't restricted info at the time, and they didn't turn off the transponder, we could see where the president was until someone figured out they better turn the transponder off, but that was AFTER he left Louisiana and was heading for Nebraska. The media was going nuts wondering where Bush was, and we all knew exactly where they were. It was strange. And then, for three days, D/FW airport was a twisted mess of airplanes parked all over the place, and the SILENCE was weird. There's more stories from some of the crews heading out east... but that's all I have time for now.
  15. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) The team lost its momentum when they decided to be incapable of hitting left-handed pitching. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 09:23 PM) It would be nice. However, he's given up a total of three runs in his last two outings. Amounting to.... 16 innings. The Sox have scored two runs in support. If your offense can't score three runs in a game, you usually don't deserve to win IMO. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 09:26 PM) Average runs/game by the Sox 2.8 QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) Some consistency? How about some f'in runs instead? QUOTE(beautox @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) Nice Work Javy 7IP 2BB 4H 2ER 10K Keep it up. Right on, people. Vaz, unlike some of these other guys, has been doing his job since August.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 08:29 PM) He pitched good, but I'm not about to start praising him like he's Cy Young. He still suffered his 6th inning mental breakdown, and with the way our offense was swinging today, we needed him to limit the Indians to 1 run or less. Yea, but you can't ask him to go through zeros every time out. Two runs is pretty damn good.
  17. QUOTE(cgaudin @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 08:52 PM) Perhaps all of you McCarthy kool-aid drinkers will sober up enough to see why Ozzie has stayed away from him. He has TOTALLY sucked the last 4 outings. Hmmmmmmm////// Could be because he's set to fail out of the pen? Just maybe. And beleive me, I'm not a kool-aid drinker here, I'm just saying.
  18. LMFAO. I just looked at the box score and thought what the hell? And then I came in here and read this. I think we just witnessed a total meltdown.
  19. And... AGAIN, Vazquez stepped up. WTG, JAVY!
  20. It cracks me up how the focus on my last post was '20 minutes' and I see 200 links refuting it. OF COURSE Clinton was worried about covering up a blow job. But none of that matter now. Southsider hit it on the head, though... Michael Moore is a f***ing celebrity, but now ABC is nothing short of political hacks. Amazing the double standard.
  21. There's an excellent piece I read on all of this earlier this weekend. I'll see if I can dig it up. It's basically an article on Iraq, why we have to stay, and why the whole thing is a house of cards. It clearly states why Bush has gotten trapped into the 'stay the course' mentality - and Iran has won a very important piece of the chess match. It's not 'check-mate', but it's certainly 'check' on that front.
  22. It amazes me how the Democrats are all in a panty-wad tight uproar about this. From what I hear, there's plenty of blame to go around, on all accounts, but the 20 miuutes of "Clinton blame" is JUST too much!!! OMG!!@#$!%!!!!!
  23. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) It's called spam. It's called G-O-N-E if it keeps up.
  24. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 08:44 PM) What the hell is it with you and all the smilie posts?
  25. You know, I don't know yet. I want to see the debate in October.
