Rumsfeld Needs to Go: Retired Generals Tell Congress
kapkomet replied to IggyD's topic in The Filibuster
Let's see here. Bush says that "mistakes were made" but that isn't good enough. We CAN'T leave now, as much as you people would want us to. So instead of throwing s*** out there and waiting to see what sticks, how about a REAL plan besides running away? -
Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States
kapkomet replied to IggyD's topic in The Filibuster
Pass the crackpipe while you're at it. It will never pass, which is why there has been nothing happen on this bill since 18 months ago. -
blah blah "This is a timeline" blah blah If there were a "timeline" NOT supporting your stance, you would never have posted it. Give it a rest. It's bulls***.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Oct 1, 2006 -> 03:43 AM) I'm just saying people who have done just as bad and/or worse have been welcomed by the Christian Right. And please tell me that the far-religo nuts like Robertson, Falwell etc. aren't going to turn this nugget into a "See, our culture of Satan's deception can even tempt and destroy a pious Christian conservative man." to somehow spin this as anti-liberal. The man sexually harassed a child and should pay for it with criminal sanctions. But with his connections, he'll likely do little time and (sadly) be welcomed back by the Christian Right who is more interested in theocracy than the actual precepts of their religion. We're supposed to be taught forgiveness. But, this kind of stuff shouldn't be forgiven, IMO, which makes me a "bad Christian" I suppose.

LCR, that post was horrible. Before you start spewing crap on it, let's see what happens. This asshole deserves to get everything he has coming to him. And furthermore, IF this was covered up, those people deserve to get ripped as well.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 06:23 PM) The only game he's looked real bad in is against C.C. C.C. makes a lot of people look bad, so that's not terrible.

Was our best hitter on the bench most of the year?

Good lord. Gload over Konerko? Stop the insanity. Konerko didn't have THAT bad of a year. -
Wow. That tells me that there are more over there then we even think... which explains a lot.

What's even more strange is Bill Parcells saying Monday that he gets sick from his pain pills... so there could be truth to it, actually. Scary, huh?

I hate living in Dallas (for sports reasons) now. I HATED this signing and now I REALLY do, especially after the media went orgasmic all over this this morning. It's news, but not worth stopping the friggin' earth for.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 12:53 AM) Have you read See No Evil by Robert Baer? I'd recommend you do, if you have not. There is a lot of complexity there, in Beirut and around that incident. But ultimately, I agree with you, and in fact said something similar in an earlier thread - this terror thing is not new, nor did it start under Clinton, either Bush, or even Reagan. But it swelled to something worse on all their watches. I don't have a lot of free time, unfortunately. Do you have a paragraph synopsis?

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 06:12 PM) You have GOTTA love how there are certain circles who say the Bush Administration is the biggest bunch of boobs ever to inhabit the White House, how they were so totally clueless when it came to dealing with Katrina, yet they allegedly pulled off the grandest conspiracy in world history by "perpetrating" 9-11. You have to laugh at the irony there. Exactly. There is NO WAY that they could have pulled this off, because there would be WAAAAAAAAAY too many people who were "in" on the deal.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) That's a stupid game plan. How insightful.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 02:56 AM) Some of it goes over the top, no doubt, and I think we both know who has been guilty of that. I personally think I am fair with my criticisms, but to each his own. Yea, you're right. I didn't mean to single you out in this instance. It *is* frustrating watching your team get slaughtered when it counts, and this team did. I'm a huge hockey fan, and I have had season tickets here in Dallas for quite some time. And they choke their asses off in the playoffs every year. Baseball is MUCH harder to make the show... but I always try to remember that this is for my entertainment and to get me away from every day stresses and to have fun. If you're that frustrated, it might not be a good idea to pony that kind of money up is I guess what I'm saying. (edit- not YOU per se, Tony, but the idea...)

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 11:03 PM) I will say one thing, your right about Cub fans, and you really would fit in perfect on the North Side. If you want to accept mediocrity, fine, you seem happy with this season. That doesnt do it for me. This "cushion" you speak off, thats a freakin' joke. We won the World Series. Good, thats what were supposed to do. Now do it again, or at least get back to the post season. I love this franchise, but im not going to let a World Series give them a 10 year "pass" on winning. Oh, and please spare me on quoting me, then putting "You Sox fans" in sarcastic quotations, insinuating some of us are bad fans. I'm a 19 year old college student that was able to scrounge up over $800 bucks for a 27 game package, and that doesnt count the trip a few of us made out to Cinncy to see this club. Ironic im getting the "Your a bad fan" routine from a guy that claims he lives by Midway, and his sig claims he has been to 1 game. I guess my biggest complaint, Tony, is when a team is going to finish with nearly 90 wins, it's not "mediocrity" when they finish in THIRD PLACE with 90 wins! That's freakish, honestly. These guys had mental problems in my opinion... they just could never find the extra gear all year. We were all looking for that spark that would get them going, and just when we thought we'd see it, they would peter out. Mediocrity, IMO, would be finishing below .500, not 90 wins. Am I disappointed? Hell yes! But, I certainly think that there shouldn't be bitterness like we see all over the board.

Why the f*** do some people even post here if all they are going to do is just s*** all over a thread?

Here's one for you Reaganite lovers... Personally, I think HE was the one who started the notion of terrorism against the United States, because one of the earliest "cut and run" deals was the Betruit bombings. Now sure, he blew Libya back to the stone ages because of PanAm 103, but Beruit was DEFINITELY a mistake. He should have bombed the s*** out of who did it right there and then, and that would have set the stage for these jackass Islamists today to not mess with us. But alas... MMQB.

QUOTE(SinkingShip06 @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 04:28 AM) it's finally over. this team gave up after the all star break. i'm glad the final mathematical bulls*** is done. f*** THE SOX. they're gonna have to prove something to me next year as i have to predict them to finish 4th behind the indians... Seriously, just go away now. You've said your piece. Don't come back.

SO YOU ALL WERE RIGHT! WOOT! I'm glad it's over, so now maybe people can get on with life, or something.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 08:36 AM) Add to that the amount of traveling and being away from home, any sort of "normal" routine, and staying in hotels and I'd say it's not as easy as it seems. I'm not 100% excusing them, because every other team goes through the same thing, but when you consider the amount of innings the starters logged in October, then the shorter rest/recovery period they got because of playing longer than any other AL team, there had to be some effect as a result. I'm honestly surprised at the level of venom aimed at this year's club. Sure, it's disappointing to see them not make the playoffs, but to see what looks to me like hatred is stunning. SF1 and Critic are right on. I know some professional athletes at the highest level. It is NOT easy. The mental side of the game(s) are sometimes more tiring then the physical. If then, you have physical nags, the tired becomes that much worse. It IS an excuse, as every team has to play through it. But it STILL gives NO reason to treat these guys like a pile of s*** like some here do. These guys are still not mathematically eliminated. That tells me they played all the way through the last week of September. They are almost to 90 wins - which at the beginning of the year to some of you so-called experts now b****ing they mailed it in - was going to get them in the playoffs. The division turned out to be better then anyone predicted from top to (almost - KC sucks) bottom.

Looks like they are doing ok Saturday afternoon, they are up in 3 of 4 matches and square in the last one. They need to sweep this afternoon to have a chance tomorrow. oh s***, I read it wrong. The US is down in 3 of 4. Yikes. It's over before we even get to Sunday.

LMAO. I'm going to start calling you Jimmy.

Konerko's quote after the game yesterday

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 01:41 PM) I don't think they had a $200 million payroll the years they repeated. It was probably closer to the meager $100 million payroll that the White Sox currently have. Have you heard of a concept of "inflation"? A $150M payroll five years ago is $200M now, at least from the Yankees perspective. -
LMAO me thinks someone is a Ranger fan.
-
It also shows that the team HASN'T "mailed it in" like some like to say around here. It's just the teams around them are better this year. It's been one of the strangest years in a long, long time. Hell, Cleveland was supposed to be right there, too. This division has four INCREDIBLY talented teams - no one else in baseball can say that, and it will be a crapshoot for the next 5 years or so to see which 2 of the 4 get in the playoffs every year.
