  1. Well, to get tickets, or not to get tickets. Anyone else going? YAS?
  2. AMERICANS WITH NO ABILITIES ACT - CONGRESSIONAL ACT WASHINGTON, DC (AP) Congress is considering sweeping legislation, which provides new benefits for many Americans. The Americans With No Abilities Act (AWNAA) is being hailed as a major legislation by advocates of the millions of Americans who lack any real skills or ambition. "Roughly 50 percent of Americans do not possess the competence and drive necessary to carve out a meaningful role for themselves in society," said Barbara Boxer. "We can no longer stand by and allow People of Inability to be ridiculed and passed over. With this legislation, employers will no longer be able to grant special favors to a small group of workers, simply because they do a better job, or have some idea of what they are doing." The President pointed to the success of the US Postal Service, which has a long-standing policy of providing opportunity without regard to performance. Approximately 74 percent of postal employees lack job skills, making this agency the single largest US employer of Persons of Inability. Private sector industries with good records of nondiscrimination against the Inept include retail sales (72%), the airline industry (68%), and home improvement "warehouse" stores (65%) The DMV also has a great record of hiring Persons of Inability. (63%) Under the Americans With No Abilities Act, more than 25 million "middle man" positions will be created, with important-sounding titles but little real responsibility, thus providing an illusory sense of purpose and performance. Mandatory non-performance-based raises and promotions will be given, to guarantee upward mobility for even the most unremarkable employees. The legislation provides substantial tax breaks to corporations which maintain a significant level of Persons of Inability in middle positions, and gives a tax credit to small and medium businesses that agree to hire one clueless worker for every two talented hires. Finally, the AWNA ACT contains tough new measures to make it more difficult to discriminate against the Nonabled, banning discriminatory interview questions such as "Do you have any goals for the future?" or "Do you have any skills or experience which relate to this job?" "As a Nonabled person, I can't be expected to keep up with people who have something going for them," said Mary Lou Gertz, who lost her position as a lug-nut twister at the GM plant in Flint, MI due to her lack of notable job skills. "This new law should really help people like me." With the passage of this bill, Gertz and millions of other untalented citizens can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. Said Senator Ted Kennedy, "It is our duty as lawmakers to provide each and every American citizen, regardless of his or her adequacy, with some sort of space to take up in this great nation."
  3. Hey - I like that blanket. That's pretty damn cool. Where can I scam me one of those?

    Dog question

QUOTE(Soxy @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 08:07 PM) I'm getting my puppy tonight! Woohoo! Awesome. Take some pics. No... the dog...
  5. Wooohooo! So, remember what sleep was like? You won't. I have to admit that Alissa, our daughter, has been doing pretty well, so far - although we're only a month in. There's only been a couple of nights that were just murder. Congrats, CC!
  6. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) If the gov't would just get its claws out of marriage entirely, that would be ideal. It would fix this problem, and remove an intrusion into out lives that is just not necessary. Our personal relationships should not be regulated. That's true, but there's always some nutjob wanting to test the boundaries, through (perhaps frivolous) lawsuits to make sure that everyone knows that certain classes of people are there. You see my point? Like I said, I agree, this is something I wish that weren't discussed at all, but at the same time, it's almost forced.
  7. You know, though, there's something to raise here. You all know I'm against this. But let me spin it another way. It has become a federal issue from a "states rights" issue because of the lawsuits on all of it and the judges putting their "legislative touch" on the laws. So, until the constitution is clear on the issue, there's all the back and forth going on. If Texas passes a law banning gay marriage, it will DEFINITELY become a national issue because the federal court system will get involved. Yes, it will take years, but the point remains that this issue has forced itself unto the federal scene via this mechanism. Still doesn't change my mind on what I think of the issue, but... it's a different take.
  8. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 02:54 AM) Your tin hat is on there so tight its practically a part of your head. Practically? His ass shouldn't go out in a lightning storm - he'd become flambe Iggy. It's pretty f***ing cool to go out and link every single wacko leftist blog site and call it reality, isn't it, though?
  9. JER-RY JER-RY JER-RY...
  10. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) When those few represent the highest level of our federal government, I think that attention is warranted. Oh, really? So do you, then. Meh.
  11. Hockey is something that many more Americans would embrace if they understood it better. I blame the lack of understanding on a HUGE marketing problem. If the NHL (and to some extent the minor leagues) could fix that, the tv contracts would come in (besides OLN) and the popularity would pick up. The game last night was an awesome display of guts, action, heartbreak, and the sheer will of an athlete to be your best on the biggest stage of your sport. It had it all. The sport will continue to do well with that sort of thing as a backdrop.
  12. I know. At the same time, though, it amazes me the amount of attention the acts of a few get over the whole.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) So in other words, your argument is that it's ok to do almost anything, no matter how evil or wrong or sadistic, as long as on some level we're better than Osama Bin Laden? *sniff, sniff, ... wwwwaaaaaahhhhh ... almost brings a tear to my eye to think that these people deserve and have so much respect... *sniff, sniff* ... /blows loogey... *sniff, sniff*
  14. That guy has a man-crush on you.
  15. Do we know you? Probably. Enjoy your one day here.
  16. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 07:31 PM) Ultimately these 2 'hot button' issues shouldn't crack the list of the top 100 things that Congress should be looking at. Said in best capital one commercial clone voice... Who's in YOUR bedroom?
  17. it won't be an offseason move, if it's made. I am starting to agree that B-Mac isn't ... a part of the crowd, shall we say, ... in the world of Oswaldo. We'll see.
  18. For once, this will NOT work. And I still say it's not GWB's ideas. Rove, maybe, and if he thinks this particular charade will work, it won't.
  19. Attendance: 17,458 Oh really? 18,540 is technically a sellout.
  20. Nah. This is a Congressional move, and the president is along for the ride. It's STUPID, but that's neither here nor there.
  21. IF this is true, and I think it's BS, then say bye to BMac.
