SS2k, you suck ass. Bastard. I'm jealous, and that don't happen very often. I would LOVE to see that thing. One of these years (way off topic) I'll get to party with Stanley.

This is a good thread. Thanks a bunch for the info, everybody!

So... I'm sure this doesn't make it any better (the part about foreign soil having to be a part of the criteria). But, again, if the bigger picture saves lives, isn't it worth it? I mean come on. OMG *MY* personal freedoms are GONE now. Yours too (whoever is reading this), all because we have a Penis-In-Chief . (thanks Mercy... ) Oh by the way, I'm playing devil's advocate here. I'm still not sure of all the details yet...

I can't find anything that says 7 disc set. At least so far. The IMDb I can't get in... grrr.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 04:07 PM) Sounds like it will be all the playoff games. Booya! How do you know? I can't find anything on that ad that says this. What about the postgame stuff? Edit - I think I see the link now.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) Couldn't be farther from the truth. Sorry Kap. Well... I saw an article about 3 years ago saying that. Gee, it must be out of date.

Agent: Artest wants to remain a Pacer
kapkomet replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Two words. HE GAWN. And greasy said it best. Ron Artest: -
I'm in the championship game. And the guy I'm playing is loaded. I'm going to have to have a miracle to win. I'll post the matchups later... and ya'll can help me construct a miracle.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 02:43 AM) It seems that the wind is knocked out of hypotheticals like this when you take into consideration everything that has been said about the ease in which emergency sire taps and such can be procured just as long as the peperwork seeking formal authorization is filed within 72 hours. Why would protocol, the law, and the Constitution not be upheld by the President if he could still have accomplished what he wanted to within legal/constitutional channels? Unless he has decided that the law and the Constitution are beneath him. So he's just being a f***ing asshole? That's it? No other reason? Conversation's over, I think, because that is what this always turns into. (paraphrasing)... George Bush did this because he's a f***ing prick asshole who takes a f***ing s*** with the US Constitution. No other motive, just wants to piss and s*** on it. (end) As I said, I'm not sure what to think yet, because truthfully I haven't read up on it (been away a lot)... on the surface, it's BS... but I'm really disheartened by the rhetoric that says he did this for NOTHING but to be a dick against the US Constitution.
-
Hey... I missed everyone. I'm not sure what I think of this yet. I hate the thought of it, and I'm against blasting through the Constitution for it. But Flaxx, hypothetically, what if you or your family were a target, and they could glean information to stop it? Meaning, say your favorite mall was a target. And your wife was shopping in there, and through a wire tap, they gained information and arrested the assholes who could or would do this? What then? This issue has happened 30 times... out of how many TRILLIONS of phone conversations since 9/11? Yet, the left wants to make this the biggest issue since ... 9/11. It's wrong... but how wrong is it? I can't quite wrap my head around that yet.

You'll be happy to know that the same company makes almost all of them, no matter what the name on the package says. Just thought I'd share this. And they all have bad sectors of discs every now and again. I had damn near a whole package one time that was bad. Pissed me off.

QUOTE(Mercy! @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) Philosophically, I’m against popular election of judges. So I usually refuse to vote for any of them unless I’m aware of a particular one who’s really qualified. In Chicago, no matter what their color or creed, they always seem to magically have Irish names anyway. Interesting. I think I know why, but I'll ask anyway. Why are you opposed to that? I have a hard time with that as well - because they really aren't in a position to be elected IMO. If they are elected, special interests (definitely at the local levels) get in the way. Also, if a popular figure gets arrested, their "electibility" can be hurt if they throw the book at someone. I think that is asinine, but I have seen it happen a lot.

QUOTE(Mercy! @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) I think voting in national elections should be compulsory in the United States. Minimum $25 fine for failing to do so. It’d be interesting to know how many of the opinionistas on this board cast ballots in every local, state and federal election. Local elections generally are way more important then national ones. I go... even if I don't vote for EVERY measure...

For you Beatleheads on here: 24 hour a day streaming: http://www.beatlesarama.com Pretty damn cool. You may have already heard of this site, but if not, happy listening.

QUOTE(Mercy! @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 01:57 PM) Whew! Thanks for the penetrating, incisive, fact-filled analysis. And I sure don’t see any need to keep things “balanced." I appreciate a carefully-crafted argument that can stand on its own. You're right, I didn't add anything by saying that... other then the fact that I can't stand Ted Rall. He's a political hack asshole, and nothing more. However, on the issue, Barons said it best. He's right on, so I don't have anything to add to that.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) Carlos Lee went a full season without one. Left Field and 3rd base are completely different. Edit: holy s***, I'm only 25 pages too late. Nevermind.
-
Ted Rall is an asshole. That's all. And so I can keep it somewhat "balanced", Ann Coulter is about the same on the other side of the spectrum.

QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 07:58 PM) I got something in the 70's. 77 I think... holy s***. you all got some low #'s. Mines in the 1000's. I got mine three days ago tho. -
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 12:43 AM) Hey guys, I've got a question. I've been working at Blockbuster part time (for the 5 movies a week.) and I'm cutting ties so I don't have the extra w2 for '06 tax year. My question: If I work Dec 26, but get paid on Jan 6th 2006, what tax year will I put that under? if it's 06, I'm not working. if it's '05, then we're good. 2006. For sure. It's pay date, not service date.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 01:24 AM) Tell darcy that first penalty was a nice dive... karma got his ass anyway with the Hawks picking up the shorty. There could have been about 5 diving calls in that game. It was horrible. Anytime the skates got knocked, it was "tripping".
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) That was terrible. The kid ends up in the hospital, and they let the game play on. It was a hard game to watch, as they called EVERYTHING even remotely close and it really kept the game uneven. The Hawks are close, they are just so young, and they have got to quit giving up so many odd man situations and taking so many penalties. I saw him get knocked down but I couldn't tell what happened... I was watching him while the play went on and they scored off of it. Then... the ref who was behind the play just acted stupid. What happened?

Remember that the Preds basically have the Milwaukee Admirals tandem in net tonight.

Nice thread title, eh? Those of you OUT of the Chicago area that get Comcast Sports Chicago, the broadcast of the games is being BLACKED OUT. I just went to set my recorder for this, and it said "blacked out in your area". f***ers! So... whoever planned on getting these better become nice friends with people IN Chicago. FYI... now... as opposed to cursing on Sunday.

Congress Banks on Dollar Coins Depicting Ex-Prez's
kapkomet replied to greasywheels121's topic in SLaM
QUOTE(Soxy @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 02:13 AM) Mostly because nut jobs like my parents collect the new coins and just stash them under their bed. Here's what my parents will do when the new coins come out: annoy every cashier, bank teller, and, possibly, homeless panhandler to see if they can get some of the new coins. Then, they will hide these coins (rolled of course) in shoeboxes under their bed. I feel relatively confident that 70% of the Sacajewea coins that were put into circulation ended up under my parents' bed. They're insane. Is your real name Sacajewea?
