QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 07:12 AM) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_W._Bus...use_controversy You just can't resist taking your shots, can you?

The timing was poor, to be sure, but there's people that are thinking it, sadly enough. That's part of the problem, actually, and why they continue to attack, is because we are so divided on this.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:14 PM) Look at the thread title ... then look at this: What's wrong with this picture? Nothing - well, that's even more why I think we're gonna get our ass kicked on this. Juggs is on the right track. And the Caspian Sea has been disappointing because they can't move the oil out of there. It's there, and a lot of it, the problem is getting it out of there.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 10:57 PM) What's all this talk about haggis, we got the Olympics! We beat Madrid, we beat New York, we beat Maoscow and we beat PARIS. The food here is as diverse and as good as anywhere else in the world, no worse no better, but just as good. For that matter my teeth are as good as any of yours ( relating to a different forum ) as is my eyesight and my hearing. However my dress sense and the overall British sense of style is far superior to the average Americans. Likewise my understanding of the word irony. (no please don't go and look it up) Anyway rant over. God it is good to be British for once, and did I mention we beat the French? That's funny. England Defeats Paris. Kind of Like Dewey Defeats Truman, except true.

I know, I know! It COULDN'T be that we are hoarding supplies for, *ahem*, a rainy day? Maybe for something like my avatar...

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 04:42 PM) Both Japan and China have huge major faults in their economic system. Japan would still be a huge world economic power, if their banking system weren't utter trash. They refuse to write off bad debts that have no hope of being collected, so those numbers sit on their books perpetually and that money can't used as new loans to stimulate spending. They also have an incredibly low spending rate, which means almost all of their growth comes from investment, which can't happen because the banking system is handicapped. China's big downfall is going to be their own rules. They refuse foreign ownership, which severely limits their capital pool for investment growth. They also still are subject to the whims of the communtist party, and all of the ineffeciencies that go with that. Their sheer numbers are something to be afraid of though, IF they can raise thier standard of living nationwide. Right now such a chunk of China is poor peasants that their growth is limited to the part of the population that is upwardly moble and has access to money. Which, by pure #'s alone is a lot more then the US population. That's sort of scary that there are that many poor people, yet, only a fraction (representing the money holders) of their population is more then our entire population.

Wow, the poo poo's getting deep around here.

QUOTE(winodj @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 12:12 PM) Private Organization doing what it wants. OUTRAGE! Are you so blinded by things that you can't possibly see the hypocrisy in this? It's funny how narrow-minded you become when it suits a "liberal" organization. Sure, they can do what they want, but don't go screaming about what your organization preaches, but what they do. And they just slammed the door shut on that one.

Chirac loves England so much, that he handed the olympics to them.

I was surprised. I'm crying over Paris. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. London is great.

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 04:45 AM) So why do you have a problem with a newscast that might lead with a good news story? You got your panties in a bunch from the get-go about it. I would think you would be happy to see news being broadcast, not for its ability to caching the cash register, but for the actual newsworthyness of it. You have your hatred for all things Conservative that you can't see that what they are trying to do is exactally what you want, news not for profit, but for NEWS! Evil, at the heart of what Kip is trying to say is absolutely correct. These "mainstreamers" report this because it is what sells the most advertising. I'm sorry it's that way, but it is absolutely true. Major corporations would not be able to sell time to anyone reporting "happy" news, because "happy news", there's nothing to report. Kip's right on the money with this one. /faints

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 04:33 AM) I agree 1000000000000000000%. I don't think they should report news for ratings. News for profit is ridiculous. I don't think that the media covers the deaths because they are pinkos, but because it makes the cash register go Ching. HELL YEA! Kip, I agree 100% with you for once. You get it.

QUOTE(Credepopsup @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 11:14 PM) French = Smelly, egotistical, garlic munching, surrender monkeys. Heyyyy.... what's wrong with that?????

There's a lot more complexity in this then meets the eye. I have a lot of work to do - I'll post more later on this. But China knows exactly what they are doing to the marketplace.
-
Answer me this. Why are they buying oil like it's going out of style when they have oil that they can tap? Answer: because they are trying to push our market over the edge because they know our dependency on it. I'm telling you, these people know what they are doing, and they are about to kick our ass because of our shortsighted arrogance.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) 15 years ago everyone was worried about Japan doing the same thing that China is doing now and they're in what their 10 straight year of recession or flat growth? China is having their moment in the sun now but they're gonna have their issues in the coming years. I think you're wrong, Nuke. China is no Japan, nor will they commit the same foolish mistakes. They are a patient people, and I GUARANTEE you they are the next superpower, and ready to pounce on our ass. I have a lot more thoughts behind this, but China will make Japan look like amateurs when they come and screw our economy.

QUOTE(winodj @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) Clinton went to an Impeachment trial over his "perjury." He was exonerated. Clinton paid for his "perjury." O'Donnell, if he writes for National Review, is by definition not a Democrat. Wino, it is not very often that I would say this, but your ideals expressed in this post is what the hell is wrong with our country today, on both sides of the idealogy front. I love how you just blow off "perjury". It stinks, it's baloney, and I'm frankly disappointed in you for just blowing it off, no pun intended for Billy C. If Rove committed perjury himself, he deserves to fry for it. PERIOD. I don't care WHO you are... you cannot be above the law, no if's and's or but's about it. And you say Clinton was exonerated, no he wasn't. He wasn't impeached, but he wasn't exonerated either.
-
Indeed. Heads, I know you're not gonna be around, but happy birthday, dude! And Tony - sounds like you're gonna be at the game? Bring home a winner... we need it!

Well, I know that an affiliation I am involved with has gotten cash money for a hockey team to train in September, right before camps are to open. I can't see any more of a clear sign then that - that would say they are damn near done with this. There's a HINT of some stupid ass players that are leading the union to NOT ratify the CBA because Goodenow has instructed them not to so he can still "win". I personally don't put a lot of stock in that rumour, but it's interesting. The players are PISSED beyond belief that they are having to play under a cap system after Goodendick said they would "NEVER" have to. However, most of the players after sitting out a year are bankrupt or nearly so, and that means that they are going to take what they can get at this point I think.

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 12:27 AM) Rhetoric praising the UN? Terrorists hate the erosion of their ultra conservative values. Don't they want to live without amenities such as heat and electricity. I didn't think it had much to do with wealth but I could be wrong. EDIT: of course there are all kinds of different terrorists, with different aims and reasons Those amenities (heat, electricity) are made available by wealth. That's what is at the heart of it all.
-
QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:20 PM) You're right I should have put US as well, but I think many people probably underestimate the UN's role in Iraq now. And the whole Canada would be screwed without the US point is getting old. As is your rhetoric about how great the UN is and how f***ed up the US is. We ain't perfect, far from it. But it seems like our system is the envy of the world. So much so, that communist China has thrown in the towel on the hard-core socialist programs and they realize that they have to play the capital game too. That is why these terrorists hate us so much is because of the wealth creation - they can't have it in their eyes without destroying us first. The whole thing is a house of cards that is about to fall.
