I see no one is touching this with a ten foot pole. C'mon people, debate it!

We had a debate in one of my classes tonight and I wanted to open this up for discussion here... since there's quite a few damn good thinkers around here. Today's business world emphasizes returns, profits, measureable and quantifiable results. There's a relativiely new management/leadership type (known as servant leadership) that empowers people. Managers are viewed as facilitators/helpers, and not as a role or power person "in charge". This type of "leader" is meant to promote team building in companies and several companies are starting to go toward this model. Here's the question, then. How do you place value, real, every day bottom line, value on this type of management/leadership? (I hope that this is enough information to start a good discussion).

Roenick is getting a bad rap - although again what he said was stupid. However, taken out of context, it's HORRIBLE and the hatchet job of his quotes make it FAR worse then it really was. -
DUDE... good question.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) No, a company called SkyRide. I bought it for him last year and we've tried 4 times to do it but the weather didn't cooperate. So now since the weather is good - other than being hotter than hell - we've decided to do it. He's been making excuses too.. I think he's scared.. He's not too fond of not being in control. Neither are you... Dang, steff, you're slipping. That was too easy...

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) There was a He-man movie? I missed that one. The GI Joe movie was pretty solid, even if a little weird with the whole Cobra-la thing. Are you talking about the GI Joe movie that was just out on DVD in the last year or so? Or an older one?

Wow. I hope they take it. I really do. They won't, though.

I have a... canon I think and it works well. It does still pics and does camcorder... the price has come down significantly on these even in the last year.

QUOTE(Stephen @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) Most definately. North. I live off of Greenoaks. Were you at any of the Sox games last month? I missed the Friday game that Bmac got shelled in and then sat in the drizzle for 5 hours waiting the Saturday game out only to have it postponed. So I only got to see the Sunday game and unfortunately, that game was brutal. I went Sunday as well. You're right, it was brutal. I think Garland still has a crook in the back of his neck from turning and watching that Mench shot. I used to work on Industrial right south of 183 in Euless. Went to Al's Hamburgers quite a bit for lunch. Sounds like you're pretty close to there. I'll be at a game or two in August when they come back. We'll have to hook up then, if not before.

I'm curious to know how many people on here who b**** about hockey have actually gone to (at least) two games? It takes a couple of games to get the rules down and what not, and after that, I think in terms of a team sport, there's none better. It has action, the agility, skill, endurance, speed, finesse, and good hard nosed activity all wrapped up in one. If you don't know the rules, it sucks. If you watch it on tv, you miss a LOT. I get the feeling that most who b**** on here have only watched on tv, or been to only one or two games and are too impatient to appreciate what they were watching. -

QUOTE(Stephen @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) I absolutely hate Texas summers. Grew up in the hot, spend 3 years in the army stationed in the desert and now 100+ temps here in Dallas, no thanks. I love the cold and despise the heat. In fact, I usually take vacations in the winter to colder places like Colorado, New York, etc, lol, I'm weird like that. Thanks for the input guys. I do have a car and commuting wouldn't be a problem. Dallas mass transit is awful, so you have to have a car here. With traffic, it takes me over hour to get to work (work in downtown Dallas) but without traffic, I can make it in 30 minutes. I may rent a car next trip up to Chicago so I can drive around and see if I can find an area that I like so I can have a better idea of where I want to move to. Summers suck (this one is starting to - bad) but I woud rather live in this climate then Chicago's in the winter. I will say, though, that I miss the falls. Where abouts do you live? We're within a stone's throw of Texas Motor Speedway...

You all are lucky. Last rain we got was May 15th, that was an inch at night. The time before that, it was April 10th. So... translation, an inch of rain since April 10th. It's f***ing DRY, and my grass is starting to really burn up. Even when I water it, it's not doing too well.

I know what he was trying to say, but he's an asswad for even commenting on this. Him and Brett Hull both can go hang off a few people's nutsack. -
Suck in that "clean air", baby.

QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) By making overarching statements like those...it just breeds more contempt for the government and its officers. It's about time we got someone in there who is looking out for the best interests of the country...not their party or themselves. Agreed, but DREAM ON. This country is attached to special interest's balls.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) -The Supreme Court also Monday overturned a ruling that required cable operators to open up their high-speed Internet lines to rivals. HELL YA. (job security)
