QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) That's bulls*** you can slam the UN all you want but I'm sure they've played a played a large part in the rebuilding process and as a spokesman for the UN Kofi is outlining what they have done. He's not lying about anything here. So basically what you're saying is he has lied about basically everything the UN is doing, f***ing bulls***. And he doesn't say anything about including the terrorists, gosh. I'd like to see the f'n mess Iraq is left in if UN just pulls out of that hole and leaves everything up to the Iraqi government. Take the words "UN" out and put "US" in and you have it about right on your last paragraph. For once, I really wish we WOULD stay out of everyone's business, including that great country to the north of the United States, and see how long you people last on your own.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:53 AM) Yeah -- I mean, yes Clinton lied under oath and should have gotten some s*** for it. Cuz, I mean after all -- he's the f***ing President, he should be able to go about a sexual affair and not get busted. I'm just saying, to me, a lie that screws up national security is more important than the 10 times Clinton got a BJ. I don't disagree... but a lie is a lie is a lie is a lie under oath. And so if you Clinton backers (not saying you, Apu) think Clinton got the shaft "about lying" then you have NO room to b**** about Bush. As I've said many times, they all do it to cover their ass, it doesn't matter WHO is running the country or what it is about.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 05:50 AM) One lie regarded a sex act. This lie undermined CIA operations. Seems there is a little bit of a difference there. Oh no... you can't have it both ways. It's the same thing... one gets off, the other does too by the same twisted logic. Looks like Dems finally have their smoking gun to go after these guys lock, stock, and barrel... just in time to debate the Supreme Court nominee.
-
Damn I would LOVE to do this but being that I am having to read my ass off for school right now....
-
Damn Milkman, what a thread.

ok... I closed this for a few minutes to let everyone digest it without the rapid fire responses. There's some good discussion on here about a lot of things. Calling each other out is probably not what we want, but let's face it, there are a few who continue to be a problem with the community at large here. I don't like to lock things, PM people about attitudes, or generally be an ass, but damn, sometimes you have to just be better about a situation and let it go. Usually, there's two sides to everything. Let's all take that approach and life will be better around here, right?
-
TIME OUT. OK? All of you. MOVE ON. Edit: I probably shouldn't have said it that way, but damn I get sick of reading this s***. I've said that people need to be above this stuff, haven't I? Be a better person and walk away, but it's like two year olds in that people have to have the last word about EVERYTHING. There's a LOT of people at fault, and enough's enough. Let's walk away, please?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) Alberto Gonzalez would probably make both sides pretty unhappy, and that should scare you. I would hope that this doesn't happen. Like I said on another board... I don't care if Bush puts a liberal judge up for nomination, the Dems are gonna rip this person a new asshole just for the press coverage. That's what's bull s*** about our system. And the Repblicans will fight just as hard, all for the press coverage. Bunch of power tripping bastards. That's all they ALL are.

QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) What kap has been trying to say is, fighting is not the reason people go to games. Fights dont happen every single game. I'd probably they happen in a quarter of the games that I've been to the past 3 years. That's sort of what I'm trying to say. The *real* fans don't go because of the fighting, but the fan that knows nothing about hockey goes for that reason, which is Rex's point. As I said, hockey is VERY misunderstood and if more people understood it, I definitely think they could close ranks and become a "major" sport again instead of the distant fourth sport that they are now. -
QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) I have really enjoyed reading this thread. Pretty calm cool and collected on both sides of the argument. I too get very tired of reading the constant griping but I think its keeps things interesting. I honestly don't think this place would be worth coming too if we just patted each other on our collective backs for great posts. Some of the biggest whiners have been singled out but I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever that they would weep tears of joy , as would I, if the Sox went and won the whole damn enchilada. I think the mods have shown the correct amount of restraint. Sure it's frustrating reading crap but it has A+ entertainment value as long as the older wiser members speak up. One last note. Just because you've been around a long time does not mean you are incapable of being obnoxious. Some older members take advantage of the fact they can be as surly or b****y as they wanna be. Then we chalk it up to "thats just the way they are" or he/she has earned the right to be that way. Please keep banning to a minimum. Only one of 30 teams can win it all every year and until they win it, there will be worries and its the American way to discuss what troubles us without chopping off their heads. Good call, Cali. Thanks.

Oakland has certainly been the abyss for us. KICK SOME ASS, SOX! It's time to turn it around.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 07:19 PM) By the way I have zero problem with a healthy dose of skepticism, "oh no, oh s***" mentality/comments in the game thread. After all this franchise hasn't won the big one since 1917. No one expects sunshine and flowers during the game thread or on the board for that matter, but a big issue is when people use this board or those particular threads as their personal roadside to throw up on. That gets a little old, but they dominate the game threads and the silent majority just says "screw it" and doesn't hang around. Which is too bad. But I guess that is the nature of boards like this, people will come and go. Some might go faster than others. EXACTLY. And, the admins and mods have started to make a conscious decision to clean s*** up. Fasten your seatbelt, boys and girls. Edit: It doesn't mean we're going ban happy. But it does mean, like we talked about around a month ago, THINK BEFORE YOU POST... MERCY... it's not that hard.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 06:51 PM) It's pretty f***ing sad when I feel like I'm in the minority for ENJOYING a 53-24 team. DING! And circle gets the square.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 02:37 PM) Neocons sobbing with joy, Christmas in July. Actually, they're not. They wanted her to stick around. I'm surprised by this.

Yea and I had business with Canada today... and the damn people aren't working. Wazzup with that?

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 08:13 PM) Booooo! I just found out the guy I'm going to the movies with on Friday won't see War of the Worlds because of Cruise's idiotic remarks about prescription drugs. Curses. Well, I'm sure he'd like Bewitched muuuuuuuch better anyway. *evil laugh* Ahh yes, punish him by taking him to a chick flick.

You're still measuring sales, dollars, and the like. There has to be a way to show other improvements, other QUANTIFIABLE improvements, to effective leadership. Edit: Wait, that was my question, wasn't it? I've slept since then, only a little though. PROFITS... PROFIT MEASUREMENT is what I'm after - directly attributable to leadership style.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) And has been doing much more public posturing. The Daley administration is one person turned states evidence away from falling. I'm SHOCKED, I tell you, SHOCKED.
-
Isn't $10 per dog visit more then some trading companies in downtown Chicago are paying?
-
The problem is, and will be, until someone comes up with a different measurement system, you don't have a tangible effect on your company's results by different leadership styles. Leadership styles DO have an impact, but the measureables are not in place to say HOW MUCH of an impact. /need to become an Organizational Behavior geek to invent kapkomet's measurables of leadership styles

That's taking something not so good and turning it into a beautiful thing. Whoever marries this girl for real has a winner, both because of her and her family.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) The Sox want to make sure you all have something to b**** about, since 52-24 isn't enough. KW just does this s*** TO PISS YOU ALL OFF!!!! Mercy.

Jeremy Roenick sounds off about fans

It IS ironic those rednecks for beating the s*** out of each other goes to jail, but the players just skate away, sit for 5, and come back out. But what about boxing? It's legal. In fact, encouraged? Or karate contests? Oh, self defense. Hockey, in the United States, is probably the most misunderstood game we have. It's all about image, as we've touched on in these last few posts, and hockey has a terrible image. JR's comments don't help, to be sure. However, I don't want someone in the stands like someone else in this thread sitting there saying "f*** HOCKEY", and that is exactly what JR was trying to say in an absolutely s***ty way. Edit: what about baseball brawls (on the field)? They happen... do these people go to jail? No. It's the same thing - "it's a part of the game sometimes" is what you hear, so why is it different (besides you think that hockey is marketed that way)? -

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 05:05 AM) If a sport relies on activities that would get one thrown in jail if done on the street, then to me the sport itself is not strong enough to stand on its own two feet. That's an ignorant view, and one that clearly states the image problem hockey has. You said it well, Rex, and that's hockey's biggest problem. IMO, hockey has more nuances behind the game to be appreciated then any other sport - altough I will say that baseball nuances come close. There's so much of a "game within the game" in hockey, and 99% of the people don't get that. Most true "fans" don't either. The NHL has a huge problem on its hands, it did before the lockout, and it has even moreso of a problem now. It's statements like Rex made that have to be overcome. The "the game is about fighting" thought has to be eliminated. Hell, I promote a site that counters everything that you know about a "goon". On the ice, that is what he is perceived to be, but he's anything but, and is probably one of the most charitable guys you will ever see. BTW, where was Roenick when these statements were made? AT A CHARITY EVENT. These people have little or no money, yet they still give what they can. Oh, but hockey players are assholes. Whatever. -
And we thought the 120 pounder from the Mississippi was big :o
