QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) Because I see the same thing every season. Hawks fans get all excited about this that or the other thing only for them to suck worse than the last year. Since 1996 this has been the trend and it isin't about to stop now. Fine. We get the point. Don't watch 'em, I really don't think a whole lot of people care whether or not you watch them -- no offense. I'm going to continue watching them. Is Wirtz a bad owner? Yeah, fine, but that doesn't mean I can't like the players, and there's a whole lot of likeable players coming through this organization, whether you realize it or not. -

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) Where are the schedules at? I looked at the Canes page and it just says to be released today? Blackhawkzone.com is releasing bits and pieces. The founder of the site seems to get info hot off the presses, so I'm just telling everyone what I see there. IIRC, they should be out within the next hour. I thought I heard 11:00 AM Wednesday... Full schedule right here: http://www.nhl.com/teams/chi/schedule.html Lots of home-and-home games. Good. Those tend to get the blood to boil a little bit, makes for a real good game. -
Meh. I don't mean to be the negative one, but I don't think he's that good at all. He's a little too "looking at things through the black-and-white specs". I agree with Tony about Defalco.

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:34 PM) Is it me or has BA really been tearin it up at the plate about the past 3-4 weeks? No, you're right. He's gotten extremely hot. Was recently #8 on Baseball America's Hot List...

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) I stand by what I said. The Slacks havent done anything to put themselves in a position to contend for anything but tee times in florida in April. Are you going to ever say something about hockey that, you know, isn't "Wirtz is teh sux0rs!"...? For those who care, the 'Hawks open up on Wednesday, October 5th, against the Mighty Ducks. -
I've been getting the Baseball America Prospect Report -- I signed up for it, and a couple names caught my eye. Carrillo seems to be doing pretty well. 2.79 ERA in the California League (that's a high-A league, right?). Stephen Drew is raking in the same league. He's hitting .366. Dan -- any chance you have the April/May/June/July stats that you've chronicled each month archived somewhere? I'd like to look at some numbers, I'm not too busy over the summer. I just want to get a grasp of who's really improving, and who's just treading water.

That's the Felix that I loved of last year -- 9 K's, 0 BB's. I still hold out hope that he can become a decent bullpen filler/fifth starter. But, before I my hope gets back to that, he's gotta get those ridiculous K/BB numbers back. Nice job by Anderson -- 1-for-3, but 3 BB's. Schnurstein with a nice game, too. Dbaho, Jason -- I think I got a foot on the bandwagon...

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:50 AM) First if you were in gamechat or anything you would know I have been high on Jenks since we picked him up. He is not my flavor of the month. Plus when I was down in ST I got to see him in a few games and was hoping the kid would get his act together. He might not turn out. But thanks for the concern on the sig :finger . I'll believe it when I see it. But, if you're not going to do that, then more power to ya. Iguchi was coming off of .330/.450 (or thereabouts) seasons in Japan. Of course he's an upgrade over Harris. He had a .342 OBP last year, and was something like a .360 OBP against righties. Plus, he gets to just about every ball hit (and tonight doesn't sway my judgement) -- he's got excellent range, and I think Rowand44 will tell you that. And he's not exactly one of Harris' biggest fans, but he's objective about it. This is one of the biggest lies going around on this site. That Harris can't steal. Even though over his career, he's 81% on the basepaths. In comparison, Scott Podsednik's career percentage is 82.4. -

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:43 AM) He would of been sent down if it wasnt for Credes back. That is well documented. But hey maybe we can start him in front of Gooch. I think he is a difference maker. Hey -- flavor of the month, it's all good. I hope for Bobby that he doesn't have a couple of bad appearances in a row, though, or else someone's gonna need a new sig. I've never wanted Harris to start. I've felt all along that he'd be a decent fill in for an injured player, and would do Ok in a platoon role. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:28 AM) I find it hilarious how you overreact to every game, very laughable. And spell common 'sence' with a "c". I'm sorry JPhat, I'm usually not picky with spelling, but even you gotta find the irony in that mis-spelling a wee bit funny. -

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:26 AM) Willie Harris is not a major leaguer. Neal Cotts wasn't a major leaguer to you, either, earlier in the season. Thank goodness we rushed his ass to Charlotte, huh? -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:21 AM) How can anyone defend the way Willie Harris has performed this year? I don't think he's defending his play. I'm certainly not. He's been awful this year. But Sox fans tend to come up with a scapegoat for every game, rather than a team failing. Harris was awful tonight, but he's not the only one... -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 02:56 AM) And he has accounted for 100% of the opposition's runs. Oh, Ok -- didn't realize that he was pitching tonight, too. I hope they show a replay on Comcast tonight. It seemed fairly deep to me. You'll get no argument from me that he misplayed it horribly, just want to see how far it was hit. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 02:54 AM) He's also cost us the lead. He's struck out twice where he had a 2-0 count in at least one at-bat, plus he's screwed up twice in the field. Hey, I'm just sayin'... He's been bad tonight, no doubt, but you could give him credit for what he has done -- seen a lot of pitches in the 8th spot of the lineup. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 02:49 AM) Come on, this is aggravating as hell. This is Jose "I really f***ing suck" Lima. God damn it, I hate Willie Harris. What's the pitch count on Lima? I believe it's at 82. And the man you hate has accounted for almost 20% of those pitches. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 02:44 AM) It was, mostly, a joke. I'm sorry I didn't thrown the green in there. CWS just seems like he really likes Beane and Oakland so I thought he might be a big fan equal with teh Sox. I dunno. No, but when people who have absolutely no clue about it, and make baseless comments about it, that pisses me off. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 02:36 AM) I hear the Oakland TV guys are pretty good. And you seem to like them a Billy Beane a lot. Maybe that would be more enjoyable? Why, because I defend him? Don't try and question my fanhood. 'Cause that pisses me off more than anything else, when someone tries to imply that I'm an Oakland fan over a Sox fan. Oyyy vey, Willie... -

QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 02:32 AM) Anyone find it ironic that what Hawk just said about Oakland (maintaining their streak) is the exact same thing that people said about the White Sox earlier this year? It gets harder and harder every year to listen to Hawk. It tends to get sickening, really. -
Make a GOOD deal, Kenny, or don't make one at all

QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:37 PM) Wow is that overpaying. First basemen who can't hit for power are not very valuable in my book. Sure Overbay would be a slight upgrade this year, and is a lot cheaper than Konerko and is a lefty. But I wouldn't swap the farm for him. If they're interested in Overbay, I think that they should just go the extra mile and go for Dunn. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 02:11 AM) Yah, I'm really worried about perfect English on a message board. Way to stick up for your boy. Willie absolutely sucks. Does that pass your grammar test? Honestly, I can really care less what you think about Harris. He's been terrible this year, and I've been right there ripping him when he deserves to be ripped. I don't have a "boy". I stuck up for him because he had a .342 OBP last year, and a .360 some odd OBP vs. righties. Is he perfect? No. But you could do a lot worse.
