  1. Way to show off that electric arm, Luis. f***...
  2. Neal Cotts pitched a third of an inning last night. He is allowed to go more than an inning, right? So, then why the hell is Luis Vizcaino warming up?
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 08:26 PM) He may of gotten out his 1st AB, but I already saw enough. He's gonna be really good down the stretch for the club. His approach at the plate is just great. If Gload is sent down when Thomas gets back... :angryfistshake
  4. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) I would appreciate if you could point out for me where I said that. Really. I must be slow today. If you could do that, that would be greaaaaaaaaaaaaat. Thanks. My bad. I misread the part where you said, "If the Sox can win a pennant with Burnett on the roster..." I took it as meaning something else. I apologize.
  5. Warning -- warning -- Hawk about to rip Oakland. Good job, WGN cameramen. Keep zooming in on those beautiful blondes.
  6. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:57 PM) all of you should come to the chat and talk I watch 90% of the games in HD. HD is behind the normal broadcast by about three-five seconds, depending on where the Sox are playing (home or away). I really don't like knowing what happens before it happens.
  7. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:30 PM) That trade was good, but c'mon you know how I feel about Reed.. I think Seattle is pretty happy about what they got -- their CF'er of the future, as well as a good hitting, questionable fielding SS/3B-man. Worked well for both teams, it looks like.
  8. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:19 PM) Nicely done. If the Sox can win a pennant with AJ Burnett on the roster, no one will be calling for McCarthy in 2006. FWIW, I'm starting to get the notion this is all about to happen. How does acquiring AJ Burnett guarantee us a pennant?
  9. Can we get a definition of "dramastically"? DJ?
  10. Damn... I didn't realize how good of a season Floyd is having -- .279/.354/.520. Those are some pretty good numbers for playing at Shea...
  11. Three way deal. Mets get Konerko. Cincy gets... people. Sox get Dunn.
  12. Ick, no. We need a top-line guy, and he isn't it. His points have been in a steady decline. He'll be 35 when the season starts. No thanks, IMO.
  13. Charlotte loses 4-3 in 11. Anderson 1-for-4 with a walk, but two K's. Not a whole lot to talk about in this one, though. Fields took the loss, but it's good to see he's doing well -- 2.87 ERA at Charlotte this year. Box. Birmy loses 5-3 in 11. Lots to talk about. Owens 1-for-6, Gonzalez 1-for-4, 2B, 2 BBs. Rogo 2-for-6, 2 2Bs. Fields 2-for-5, but 2 more K's. Sweeney 1-for-3, 2 BBs. Haigwood a decent start. 5.2 IP, 1 ER, 4 Ks, 3 BBs. Box. Winston-Salem loses 4-2. Not a very good night offensively, only five hits. Schnurstein had two hits. Valido 0-for-4. Box. Hurray for a win! Kanny wins 2-0, behind Liotta's pitching. Went 6 innings, 5 K's, 7 Hs, 2 BBs. Getz 0-for-2 with 2 BBs. Ricks 0-for-3 with a walk. Lucy 0-for-3 with a walk. Box.
  14. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 04:12 AM) THE Darrin Erstad? That of the sub .390 SLG% family? But he's got 'heart', is a 'proven winner', and would run through a wall for the team. INTANGIBLES, MAN!
  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 03:58 AM) This is so hypocritical it's ridiculous. I respect Bill Melton as much as anyone does, just cause he's an ex major leaguer doesn't make him always right. I called you a hypocrite cause Hawk and DJ were talking about how good Miller was tonight but you won't admit that, so I guess you know more then them too right?? By the way, Keith I see you reading this thread, I'm sure wanting to rip on me for the A's comment. We've had this discussion already so you don't even have to bother. Though I do enjoy are banters back and fourth since we never agree on anything. Chill, chill. I'm not gonna rip anybody. I have a pounding headache and am basically browsing. And am really pissed about the s*** that happened on the basepaths tonight, about squandering the bases loaded with one out, and about screwing up a damn good outing from our #5 starter. No need to talk about the A's. They keep winning, I'm happy that they're proving everyone wrong, but am pissed that they have a potential shot of winning the WC.
  16. Rowand is currently posting a line .289/.342/.410. Find me a better defensive centerfielder who's posting a better line in the AL. Key being -- better defensive player. I see Torii Hunter posting a better line (.040 more SLG points, but about .010 less in OBP). Johnny Damon is, too, but I think Damon has lost a lot defensively. Anyone else? It pisses the hell out of me when people look at the better players on the team and use them as scapegoats, rather than looking at the guys who are actually sucking.
  17. Umm, Ozzie, please stop sending Iguchi. And, just because a guy has two working legs, doesn't mean he can steal bases. And Carl Everett's line is .257/.302/.466. If Thomas is out for a prolonged period of time, we need to find ourselves a guy who can rake.
  18. Alright fellas, I'm out. Heading to the game in a few with Soxnbears and IlliniKrush, and we're gonna see Greasy up there. Go get 'em, El Duque!
  19. I really don't like a deal that sends Cotts/Politte/Marte/Jenks to Florida... Not one bit.
  20. QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 06:41 PM) Sorry, but the fish aren't going to take a prospect and Marte for Burnett. Someone is going to overpay for him, as well as take on Lowell's fat contract. Burnett won't be coming to the southside. The Marlins are backing off on making a team take Lowell along with Burnett. That's what was reported earlier by ESPN.
  21. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 06:07 PM) Tony, I really believe we just won the Burnett sweepstakes. Kenny's probably just going to wait it out until Florida comes to his terms. I'm 99% sure that Kenny won't move Marte. That's way too much shuffling, trading Marte + B-Mac for Burnett. Contreras + Sweeney for Burnett, OTOH... :thinking
  22. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) I'd rather give up Contreras than give up Marte... Ditto. I'd do Contreras + Sweeney + Gonzo/Lopez for Burnett, with us eating part of Contreras' salary. And like I said, no need to offer him a long term deal if they feel he's not worth it -- offer him arbitration, and if he declines, the Sox get two first round/comp picks. I just don't want to lose such a key part of the bullpen in Marte...
  23. DBaho, I assume that Vandermeer/McCarthy/Berard/Cullimore are locks, and then it'll be a battle between Robidas, Duncan Keith (rave reviews from both Tallon and Yawney -- if he made the team, I doubt Robidas would make it too. IIRC, he's undersized), Anton Babchuk, and even Brent Seabrook. The folks who watch the Norfolk games said that Seabrook came up and immediately became the Ads best defenseman. It's a longshot, but it could happen. Ideally, you have those top four, along with a #1-#2 defenseman brought in -- as Tallon and co. hinted at. Then, you have competition between Robidas/Keith/Bab/Seabrook for the final spot.
