As much as I've appreciated Crede's efforts the past few years, I really hope Kenny is looking at Aubrey Huff. I hate doing this, but theoretically -- would you guys do Crede/Anderson/Diaz (or Munoz) for Huff? -

What's Buehrle's pitch count at? Just, 'cause, Neal Cotts is warming up. I didn't think Buehrle was already nearing 90-100... -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 4, 2005 -> 12:54 AM) Not to brag, but I predicted Tads' first ML homer on another forum. But, I agree. Well, it was a good night to pick it. Tonight was the night, if ever. Iguchi has been stellar against soft tossers -- or, pitchers who have a slow changeup (like Santana). Anderson doesn't have enough on his fastball to blow it by anyone, so, when I saw the catcher sitting on the inner half of the plate -- I got real, real happy for Tadahito. -

No one is going to believe me, but my eyes widened when I saw the catcher lining up on the inside corner. I was saying to myself, "mistake right here", and sure enough -- bye bye. Congrats, Tadahito! -
QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ May 3, 2005 -> 09:10 PM) i dont like jamie burke, why couldnt they bring up some other infielder, that would have been the smart thing, or BMAC to use in relief Yeah, let's get the arbitration clock rolling on B-Mac just so we can use him for three days of relief pitching. Real smart... :rolly :banghead :banghead

Sheesh -- 2.50 ERA, Cy Young award winner? GMAB -- he's off to a hot start, and he'll most likely do better this year than in past year's, but that's awefully high praise for a guy who's been average his whole career. I'm excepting better things out of Jon this year (as opposed to years past), but I highly doubt he's in the top ten in AL Cy Young votes, and I doubt he's within a run of a 2.50 ERA...

Solid pickup. A-Train was awesome for us whenever we needed him. If used correctly, he's a really good back, as he showed in 2001. He's not gonna break the big runs, but man, he'll get ya a good 3-6 yards everytime. And, when the fourth quarter hits... I guess that's a little biased, I liked Train a lot, and thought the organization treated him like s***. Best of luck to him in Dallas.

Konerko contract year....want him back?
CWSGuy406 replied to Hideaway Lights's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ May 3, 2005 -> 03:50 AM) last april and may all everyone talked about was Ordonez' contract situation....why is this not appropriate to talk about now in comparison? Don't get me wrong -- I'm all about talking about the offseason. Funny, I b**** in the offseason how I miss the regular season, yet in the regular season, all I want to talk about is the offseason... :banghead Anyways, I love Konerko, but I really think he might ask for over eight million per season -- which, IMHO, is too much. I guess, I should also say that I'm a fan of Thomas staying here as the DH, too. I just think that Konerko is going to be one of the better hitting free agents out there, and might be able to ask for (and get) eight digits from someone. As far as replacements -- Cheat mentioned one in another thread, his name is Ryan Howard. He's a first-basemen who's blocked by Thome. He put up a career .373 OBP in the minors and a .901 OPS. He's a lefty, too; don't know much about his defense, though. I figure that Philly is always wanting pitching, so hopefully Contreras is able to have a pretty good year. 'Cause I think some teams might come knockin' if he does. Another guy I like is Durazo, the DH for Oakland. Oakland fans have said that he's really not a good firstbaseman, but he has a career 129 OPS+. Oakland probably isn't going to resign him (or so I've heard), and I'd love to see he and Thomas in the middle of our lineup -- two OBP machines hitting third and fourth would be excellent. Like I said, if he's that much of a butcher defensively at first, then it's dumb that I even brought it up... The last couple are just guys that I've had my eye on for awhile. Nick Johnson and Aubrey Huff are guys that I've liked. Unfortunately, Johnson's been oft-injured, so he hasn't really gotten a chance in a full season to show himself, and Aubrey Huff -- well, I just like him a whole lot. The past three seasons, he's put up OPS+ of 132, 139, and 124. He's another option who I like a lot -- and will probably take a lot to get. But, call me crazy, I'd probably give up Anderson to get him. Not Sweeney or McCarthy, but Huff is just about a budding star... -

I haven't looked, but I think the best FA 1B-Man besides him is Erubial Durazo. Meaning, if he hits the market, he might just be the best FA 1B-Man out there... I hope to talk about this topic on my blog as the midseason approaches -- it's a topic I've wanted to talk about, but I really don't think it's appropriate at this time. -

Sheesh. You guys are overcomplicating things. A strikeout is the only type of out that a pitcher can control. It ensures an out. Does a groundball ensure an out? No. Jackie isn't saying that Jon needs to strike more guys out (though it would be nice). Jackie isn't saying that Jon is a bad pitcher because he doesn't strike guys out. He's saying (and if I'm off base, then just give me an internet b**** slap Jackie ) that a strikeout is the best thing a pitcher can do. -
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 3, 2005 -> 03:15 AM) So, for example, the 4 gb iPod will hold approximately 1000 'average length' songs if you have them at 128 kbps quality. Higher or lower quality, adjust the number of songs accordingly. And like soxnbears says, you should be sure that you won't want more songs later on. I don't listen to that much music, but I have over 2100 songs on my iPod. I'm happy that I have the 20 gb. Average length? I assume that means three minutes or so? I think that evens out -- I have some songs that are about a minute and a half, and a bunch that are four minutes...
-
QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ May 3, 2005 -> 03:13 AM) I have 400 beatles songs. I have about 30-50 that I know I want on there. 1000 will be plenty big.
-
QUOTE(Cy Garland @ May 3, 2005 -> 03:09 AM) Thats exactly the way i felt when i got my mini and i have just about 200 songs and am perfectly happy. Ok -- that's what I needed. I'm really not trying to make it complicated, even though I am. Believe me, Steve, I doubt I listen to half the music you listen to. I'm really not a big music at all, but the CD's I do have are all over the place. I think a thing like this will last me at least through college. EDIT: Like I said -- Beatles, DMB (and not all of it either), and some random stuff, which is few and far between. I'm not really a music fan.
-
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 3, 2005 -> 03:01 AM) You rip the songs onto your computer's hard drive, then transfer these to the iPod's hard drive. Edit: Not a removable drive, nothing like that. Ok, I understand that. But say I buy one of the iPod's shown here. Other than how much music I can hold on it (which, fwiw, 1000 is plenty for me. I doubt I'll even use 500), is there any reason that I shouldn't buy it?
-
Wait, I'm confused. Is there a disk within the iPod that you save the songs on? Or, do you get 1,000 songs -- period?
-
QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ May 3, 2005 -> 02:53 AM) ipod mini's are cheaper, but hold alot less songs. Not sure of the exact stats and too lazy to look it up. I saw the mini's hold 1K. Which should be enough for me -- I have less than 100 songs in mind right now that I want to put on there. I'm not a big music guy -- I like Beatles, Dave, and some other random stuff, but that's about it...

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ May 3, 2005 -> 02:46 AM) ITrip works fine usually. I'd also go with the normal IPod instead of the IPod mini, if you can afford it. Any reason why? I'd rather save $100 bucks, but if it's really that important...
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 2, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) Yeah, that's the iTrip. Ick -- the reviews for the iTrip don't seem to great. People complaining that the slightest movement causes bad sound, etc etc. Damn.
-
Hmm -- Harris, I know you're watching the Bulls game, but if you see this -- I like that mini- I-Pod, that holds 1,000 songs and is $200 bucks even. But, do you by chance know if iPod hook up to car's CD-players?
-
Alright -- I need some help here. I think I want to get one of these things, as I'd like something compact that would allow me to not carry my CD's around. Here's the problem -- I know jack-s*** about either of these two things. First, let me tell you what I'd like, then maybe one of you guys would be nice enough to direct me to a place where I can get one. I probably need something that can hold just about 1,000 songs. One of my friends has one that hold 2,000, and then I saw on BestBuy.com, one holds 10,000 -- well, I don't need one with that much room. I don't even think I'd use 500 of the 1,000 spots, but I figure I'd round up -- by a lot. Next, I want something that will allow me to hook it up to my CD-Player in my car. I don't know how exactly that would work, but I've seen people who've done it, with CD-Players not too much different than mine. I assume that might be a seperate hook-up, but whatever. And, finally -- what's the difference between an MP3 Player and an I-Pod? If someone can help me out with any of my questions, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
