Phew! And, Podsednik was hitting .217 before that AB, so I dunno wh he's getting so much of a break, either.
-
And you guys can keep talking about Josh Fields like he's gonna come in this season and take 3B and be our Scott Rolen, it's not gonna happen. He struck out a lot last year, even though he did show signs of improvement -- but he's gotta make (what some call) the biggest step in pro-ball, A to AA. But, rest assured, unless Fields absolutely smokes AA, he won't be ready till mid-2006, the earliest, IMHO...
-
In all fairness to Crede, that first pitch was pretty high in the strike zone. OK -- continue bashing.
-
Oyyy vey -- 0-2... Come on Joe Joe.

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 08:28 PM) Iguchi? He doesn't seem confident quite yet with how pitchers and their motions over here yet. In fact, in a game in Minnesota, he actually jumped back on the pitch, thinking it was a pickoff move. Nice AB there, Chris.

Ozuna with a steal. There's three guys on this team who I want stealing bases consistently -- Ozuna, Harris, and Podsednik. They're the only guys I'm confident enough in who can successfully steal at a 70%+ rate... EDIT: And maybe Gooch.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) We've been making Milwood look like Cy Young again. We can't hit him. Rowand just got pegged on the hand, but looks to be ok. Freddy def. doesn't have his A-game today, but has survived. We find ourselves down 1-0. Thanks, appreciate that. So, I take it we're gonna have to gut this one out if we wanna win this one? Hopefully Freddy can keep on pitchin', even if he doesn't have his best stuff.

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) Awful "smart ball" there. Ozuna no contact on the hit and run. Gotta connect on the hit-and-run, it's a must. Concentrate, get something on the ball, even if you don't hit it hard. Ozuna reaches by error.

How we lookin' so far, fellas?

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 06:21 PM) Ozuna's first major league season, Crede's what??? You killed your own point :headshake First major league season at the age of 30. Your point is pathetic, period. Had to edit my post, for the sake of santo -- I had a "you're" where a "your" should have been.

I forgot to ask earlier, Jason, but where do you think Mike Morse would have fit on this list had he not been traded?

QUOTE(valponick @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 03:29 AM) That is the incorrect baseball analysis. First of all Uribe was in a position to make the play, even if his momentum was going in the other direction he was still in a MUCH better position to make the play than Crede was from his belly. At that point as a third basemen you have to know that if you can't make the play the fact that it goes into the outfield makes no difference given the situation. Of course he did not give up the homerum but his misplay brought about the situation, he let down his pitcher defensively, so shifting the blame on him is not unfair. He tripped unintenionally. And, if the ball goes into the OF, the runners would have advanced a base. Sheesh. There's always gotta be a scapegoat, huh? It's never that we just got beat, someone's always gotta take the blame. Geez, move on...

I'm gonna be honest here... The Sox fan inside me hated watching Santana own us, but the baseball fan inside me loves watching Santana pitch. He sets up hitters beautifully, and I don't care if he was getting an inch or two off the plate, he was awesome tonight. When you can set up a 77 MPH changeup with a 94 MPH fastball, and have no glitch in your throwing motion, you're going to be tough to hit. Tip your cap, go to Cleveland, and beat the s*** out of Millwood. -
Let's get our minds off of that loss. I hate the old cliches, but as Hawk always refers to, "You're gonna win 60, you're gonna lose 60, it's what you do with the other 42 that count". Well, that was one of the 60 losses. How about getting back on track with the starting pitching, ehh Freddy? To a third straight series win. Garcia vs. Millwood

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 02:54 AM) Say what? Crede's botched play led to the Twins scoring 4 runs with 2 outs in that inning. "If" he makes the play, the game would have been 2-1 Sox, in the end. Yeah, well, it wasn't. Deal with it. We're 4-2, quit your b****ing. -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 02:48 AM) Ummm... if Crede doesn't botch that play, Buehrle doesn't even have to throw a pitch. Nice try though. I'm glad you keep your expectations so high, but prepared to be let down. This isn't football, where you can realistically win 80% of your games... -

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 02:43 AM) No, it wouldn't have. Didn't we take 3 out of 4 last year from the Twinkies in our first meeting? I'm glad that set the tone for another second place finish... -

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 02:27 AM) I'm not saying he sucks. But I'm saying, he historically gets off to a slow start and he isn't a #3 or 4 hitter. I would put him 5 at highest if not 2. I actually agree with ya -- I'd like to see him hit second, too. I'm just saying, Everett has sucked against lefties in his career. Wow, bad call again. Let's take our series win and get the f*** out of here. -

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 02:22 AM) I see Rowand fans saying they wanted him to bat #3. So far he hasn't shown why he should be. Hell, while we're at it, I guess Uribe will probably hit below .200 this year, and man, it's gonna be an awesome Cy Young race between Buehrle/Garcia/El Duque/Contreras. -
