  1. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) Don't forget about the walks and HBP's. So what? He obviously still strikes out a s***load of batters, making his K/BB pretty similar to Buehrle's despite Buehrle's pinpoint control. I don't know why you're making him sound so terrible. Is he as good as Buehrle? I wouldn't say so. Is he terrible? Hell no...
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxfan56789 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) I feel the same way. Ditto. 26-0 in June? :headshake
  3. Alright fellas, I need some help. My dad, at an auction, won four tickets to Rams game(s). It was at a benefit, and the guy who offered them to the auction was a Ram season ticket holder. So, for Rams homes game, I can either get: a.)four tickets to one game, or b.)two tickets to two games. Which games do you think I should choose? They have a pretty s***ty division, with Seattle being the only exception. Do they play the Eagles or Ravens, some *good* team at home? Anyone care to offer an opinion?
  4. Here's to hoping Buehrle gets to 100 wins within the next two years...
  5. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 09:05 PM) Well, you are nuts but that is beside the point. Yeah -- well, some things never change, I guess... Why do we always have to pitt Buehrle up against Wood? They're two completely different pitchers. Both are above average pitchers, and I'd take both of them on my team anyways (but not Wood at 10 million -- Wood at eight million, yes). And I'm glad Buehrle is on the Sox, and hope he spends a long, healthy, successful career in a White Sox uniform.
  6. Scully is awesome, I love listening to "Dooooooodg-er Baseball" with Scully at the mic. MLB Extra Innings is awesome.
  7. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 07:21 PM) One game, seven years ago. I have never seen someone live off of one thing for so long. He's the Dexy's Midnight Runners of pro baseball. He's still good, just not great. I'd take him on the Southside, that's for sure. There's always room for a guy with a career 117 ERA+, just not at the ten million he's making (didn't he sign a three year, $32 million contract a year or two back, or am I nuts?
  8. Speaking of Brazoban -- nasty stuff. I was watching him on the night he blew the save vs. 'Zona, but man -- he's got a filthy fastball. Great movement with velocity. Brazoban to Gagne...
  9. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 02:02 AM) We received two draft picks for the yankees giving him $7 million. I loved Gordon, but we really shouldn't try to fight the Yanks. One, of which, we used to grab Gio Gonzalez.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) is he coming to the states soon? Next year, I think.
  11. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 12:22 AM) http://japanesebaseball.com/players/player.jsp?PlayerID=1104 We know he is. We've been raving about this guy long before you got here (and that's not a knock on you, either...)
  12. Either way, Piniero would be an awesome pickup for the Sox to look at if Contreras or Garland has a real piss poor season. That what Kenny seems to do well, buy low -- I don't think he sells high enough, but whatever. I remember Piniero having wickid stuff. Then again, I don't know where the room is in our rotation. I believe we still have Garland's rights till 2006 or 2007, with Contreras and Hernandez each locked up through next year. Plus, McCarthy will get a shot next year. I'd bet that one of Contreras/Garland ends up in Texas by 2006, but that's just a hunch. Oh, yeah, speaking of rotations -- how about Buehrle/Garcia/Japanese-24-year-old-who-throws-the-gyro-ball/Mac/Hernandez? That's be nice...
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 06:53 PM) After that day, maybe he should change his name to IlliniKrushed
  14. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 10:13 PM) qwerty Do you consider the Injuns as a threat to win the division? I do....especially with the pitching of Millwood as seen by all twice now When Sabathia gets back, this division will be a 3 team race unless there are some major injuries. In fact I would not be shocked at all if it comes down to between us and the Indians with Twinkies out of it by all star game (given they have Morneau and Mauer batting in the 4th and 3rd spot respectively) That's probably one of the dumbest things I've read around here in awhile. "The Twins won't compete because of Morneau and Mauer batting 4th and 3rd respectively". I don't care how old they are, those two can f***in' rake. I'd take them on our team any day...
  15. ...sucks. (in reply to the thread name).
  16. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 12:39 AM) Noch shaved and got a haircut Yeah, he looks good.
  17. According to this Baseball America Article, as well as comments by our minor league gurus such as Randar and Jason, Lucy will start the year at Winston Salem. He's gonna need to improve offensively, as all reports have him being solid behind the plate, yet so-so with the stick.
  18. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) Shingo TIME!!!! Keith gets the award!!! Great call big guy! I think it's a good move, I hope it works out. Come on, Shingo, strap 'er down!
  19. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) Too many pitches was exactly Shingo's problem when he blew that game. Too many and up in the zone and they pounded him. I don't see what's wrong with what he did. Marte has established himself as a hell of a hitter, he didn't want to make a mistake. He got Victor out, he got Hernandez out, leave it to Shingo to shut the door.
  20. Come on Marte, throw strikes. Wind knocks down that pitch TWO GONE!
