Hell yeah it would be... Look at this lineup -- not so intimidating with the boppers in the middle, but there isn't an easy out in this lineup (regardless of who hits where): Podsednik Rowand Everett/Thomas Konerko Dye Pierzynski Uribe Crede Iguchi/Harris I really like that lineup a lot, especially with our improved starting rotation and bullpen -- hell, give me one of the two (Iguchi or Pierz), and I'll be a happy person...

Aww -- is that you, no-knowledge Knuckle?
-
LOL @ KnuckleSox. What a boob. Anyways... Both of these White Sox sites -- WSI and Soxtalk -- whether or not you agree with them on all of their opinions, both sites have the most diehard White Sox fans that you'll ever know.

Club soda... :rolly Anyways -- Brian, I still haven't gotten my January schedule yet, so like I said, I'll probably be arriving sometime around Saturday afternoon. One more thing -- aside from the money for the Soxfest passes/hotel rooms, how much money do you think one should bring? I don't think I'll be buying a lot of memorabilia (unless I see something that really catches my eye), just for food and stuff like that -- how much money do you think one should bring?

Qwerty, do you know how to calculate what Buehrle's road ERA would have been without that horrid start in Montreal?
-
FWIW, a guy over at WSI who has either followed Iguchi's career carefully/lives in Japan said that Iguchi is exactly the player the Sox should be looking at (character wise). He said that Iguchi, while not playing baseball, is just your average 'Joe', very fan friendly, very promoting of his team. If that is true, then Iguchi would definitely be a nice pickup for this team.

Has anyone drove by US Cellular lately? How's it looking? Last time I drove by, I hadn't seen any construction started yet, and isn't the whole FUNDamentals thing supposed to be done by Opening Day (and then the green seats phased in over the course of the next year)? That looks like a pretty hefty project. I really hope that there aren't any mishaps that cause a delay for Opening Day...

Cygan406. I'm not on anymore, I'll let you know when I go on tomorrow.

Damn, ABoz -- have I been missing out or what. Halo 2 is a s***load more fun online. It took a bit of getting used to, but after about ten games or so, I was up getting double-digit kills (team slayer, to 50), 15 or so, every game. Plus -- I got the heavenly "Killtacular" -- four guys charged at me, I had my Alien Sniper Rifle (Dunno what else to call it ), and shot 'em all down. Halo 2...

I dunno about you, but I'd have been really, really happy if the Indians signed this guy...

Bob, I sent you a PM, don't know if you got it or not...

Jim, good post. That's the thing I worry about him most, is his attitude, because by a lot of accounts, he's not the hard-working type (not saying he's lazy), and he's got a cockiness that isn't needed at this point in his career. I just want some people to get off of his case just a little bit, because -- at least stats wise (I dunno about clubhouse/attitude wise -- he's alright...

Are you just pulling this stuff out of your ass now? Harris had four at bats with the bases loaded this season. Twice, he drew a walk, driving in a runner. Twice, he got out, without advancing a runner. Neither time did he strike out. So, let me see here -- he converted half of his opportunitues with the bases loaded. .500 percent. You find me a guy who converts half the time with bases loaded, and I'll take that every day of the week. So, Beastly, your answer -- how often did Harris strikeout with the bases loaded? Zero times. BTW, Harris' situational stats were: RISP, Two outs -- .243/.349. RISP, Man on third, two outs -- .333/.438 Again, I ask you -- are you pulling this out of your ass, or what? EDIT: Wanted to add -- if some of you are expecting Harris to be the guy to drive in big runs (not saying that you are), then I think you're expecting too much/the wrong thing from Harris. Harris can get on base, and he's lightning quick around the paths (regardless of the amount of bases he steals).
-
And when you rip Harris, I'll be right there to rip into you, because if you want to say that a guy with only a bit over a 100 AB's at the age of 30-something is acceptable, yet a guy who put up a .340+ OBP in his first year, as well as a damn good OBP against righties isn't acceptable, I'll call you out on it, every day of the week...

Welcome to the board, great to have ya here! BTW - I love Chad Pennington - one of my favorite QB's in the NFL.

Hmm... So am I understand this correctly, that Lieberthal is basically a salary dump for them, that the Phillies want to get rid of him that bad? Because I'd definitely do Everett + Adkins + Borchard for Lieberthal + Polanco + 3 Million. Let me see (trying to do the math here), we lose the 4.75 million (rough estimate) that Borchard/Adkins/Everett make, and we add the 12 million that Lieberthal/Polanco make, minus three million, so we'd be adding a little over four million, maybe closer to five million? That's doable, ain't it?
-
Valdez is no where close to being Polanco... I'd definitely make that deal -- Adkins + Borchard for Polanco, provided Philly sends over two million or so. Polanco would be an awesome hitter in that number two spot, and it would allow Rowand to move down in the order to get into more of an RBI position.

Top to bottom, I'll peg our staff as the fourth best in the AL, right behind Boston, New York, and Minnesota. I have Minnesota ahead of us because until we prove to them that we can beat them, they're better than us... Also, Cleveland's is getting up there. Sabathia and Millwood will be a real nice 1-2 punch up there, and if Cliff Lee can pitch like he pitched the first half of the year, they have a nice one through four (with Westbrook who I didn't include).
-
We can't have Harris in the lineup, even though in his first full season, he put up a pretty good average and a solid OBP (especially against righties), but we can have Burke in the lineup because you like him...? Of course, we'll take this guy over Harris, but to rip Harris like that is pretty stupid...
-
IIRC, he's a Japanese Gold Glover who brings a solid OBP, and good hitting skills to the table. I doubt he'd be a Gold Glover here, but if he's righty and is able to hit lefty pitchers, that would be huge. Anyone got his stats handy?

Unfortunately, Sox brass doesn't think that way, or at least that's the sounds of what has been said thus far in the offseason. According to Sox brass, Grilli > Adkins, Diaz, Munoz. Really unfortunate, too, because Grilli has shown nothing, other than he has some nice 'stuff'. No control, no nothing...

Well, FWIW, we're already going to have a top twelve pick this year, and that's the worst pick that we can have. That's if everything goes right, everyone we need to win loses, everything goes wrong (as far as draft position is concerned). Boy, I wish we could be talking about playoff position, rather than draft position...
-
Brian Hanley on 670 says that you need to have a top QB and a top HB to be a dominant team in this league... Who was New England's RB last season? Who was the Raven's QB when they won the 'Bowl? Bucs QB & HB when they won it? Some guys are real dumbasses on radio - it's truely unfortunate that they aren't called out half of the time... EDIT: Oh boy! Now we have our first, "Where's the Ditka-like fire from Lovie?" caller. What a f***head.
-
Murcie, that's what I was thinking about the whole game. There's a bunch of 6-9 teams. While I never cheer for our team to lose, especially against Green Bay, if we end up the season 5-11, there's a good chance we get the sixth-seventh pick in the draft. Mike Williams would be very, very nice...
