If Kenny traded Buehrle and Garcia, and got the same prospects and return, your telling me you wouldn't be pissed? I know I would be...
-
How do you know? Essentially they're getting prospects back in the deal. Prospects are just that -- prospects. They may never pan out. They had two of the best pitchers in the AL, and just traded them away. Like Jason said, If I'm an A's fan, I'd be pissed as hell.
-
Ditto. Except, I'd be more inclined to add another power bat to the lineup. If, for some chance, that the deal was just Konerko for Vazquez, and we got lucky enough to save a little bit more money from this deal, I'd throw 12-14 million at JD Drew for one year, with incentives. I've heard on the radio that Boras is looking to get Drew a type of deal such as that one. It'd give us a lefty who can hit the hell out of the ball, right in the middle of the order. Nice lineup, too, with one hell of a rotation (Buehrle/Garcia/Vazquez/Contreras/Garland), awesome bullpen too: Pods Rowand Thomas/Everett Drew Dye Pierz Uribe Crede Harris But that's a dream anyways, would definitely be pleased with that, though...

Actually -- IMHO -- if Reed wasn't traded, our OF would be Lee-Rowand-Reed -- I bet this organization would have been sold on letting Reed leadoff for this team. Or, Lee would have been traded (most likely for another pitcher), Dye would have been signed, and we'd be in a little better shape than we are right now. That said, I still like the trade. Garcia is, at worst, an above average pitcher with the chance to be an ace. I supported the move then (after an initial hating of it), and I support it now. Like Flash always says, you gotta pay a price in either talent or money. Old Socks, you'd be b****ing either way -- if we didn't make the trade, you'd be b****ing about giving Garcia 12-14 million per year. If we make the trade, you b****, so I take nothing from your post...
-
LOL, so now you're gonna label me as a 'Yes-man', which totally isn't true. I totally hate the Carlos Lee deal, I hated the Ritchie move, and I've disliked a lot of other, smaller moves that this organization has made (signing Timo Perez :puke ). But, sorry I'm not in a constant b****ing mode like you are. Maybe that will make things better, if we keep b****ing on an internet message board rather than have good baseball discussions, huh?

Sarcasm is usually posted in green, and considering most of your posts are of that sort (b****ing, b****ing, and more b****ing), I figured it wasn't 'sarcasm'... :rolly

Have the Bears won a single game playing WITHOUT Urlacher this season? I think the answer to that question tells it all...
-
My f***ing goodness. b**** b**** b**** b**** b****. What a pleasant person you are... Everything based upon a rumor, and everyone goes nuts. Settle down people, will ya?
-
Flash, will you be able to let us know what they say? I'd appreciate that...
-
Ditto, except my only diffenerence is Cora (if non-tendered) in the nine spot, if not him, then Harris.
-
1-Placido Polanco 2-AJ Pierzynski 3-Miguel Cairo 4-Carlos Beltran
-
Good point. Give him a four million in a base contract, and an extra four million in incentives. Just a one year deal -- incentives for wins, ERA, IP, and playoffs, stuff like that...

I am hoping Diaz is the one chosen for the fifth starter's spot if we don't get that front line pitcher. Not that I'd be thrilled with the idea of yet another tossup in the fifth starter's spot, but Diaz >>> Grilli...
-
I suppose you could switch Rowand and Dye, but I like it where it is. In this scenario: Pods is your leadoff hitter, no questions asked. Polanco is a better contact hitter than Rowand (better OBP IIRC, too), thus, Polanco gets the nod hitting second. I like Thomas hitting third -- good balance of power and OBP, great OPS when healthy. I like Konerko fourth, at least at home. Best pure power hitter on the team outside of a healthy Frank Thomas. Dye and Rowand are exchangable. And, for this team, I love the bottom three in the order.
-
If I read correctly what Jason wrote, he said that most of the people that had a problem with him was managers, not players...
-
Oh, don't get me wrong. If Diaz/Grilli/someone else is our fifth starter to start the season, I'll be the first one b****ing and moaning. *(Diaz to a lesser extent, while there seems to be a lot of lust for him on this board, me -- along with GHCivic -- are pretty high on his bandwagon -- If I'm wrong in this assumption Cheat, give me the nono smiley...)

What was wrong with the Schoenwies signing? Everyone bashes it, but I don't see the big deal. He was our best pitcher for the first three months of the season, and then he got bitten with the injury bug. It didn't cost us a fortune. Outside of his b****ing about not being in the bullpen, Schoeney was a fine addition for this team...

Holy s***, take a deep breath there... Look. The Score reported two different things today -- first, that the Sox had three years, thirty million on the table for Clement. Then, they reported the Sox were out of the bidding, and none of this came from the guy, who at the current point, is a lot more reliable than ANYONE working for the Score, in Bruce Levine. I just think that's a load of bulls***. The second thing might be true, but, I highly doubt -- HIGHLY DOUBT -- that Clement would reject a ten million per year contract. And, I also can't believe that the Angels are going much over ten million per year. I think all of the teams interested -- White Sox, Red Sox, Dodgers, and Angels -- are still in the bidding. I also believe that no one has topped a nine million per year deal, too. Clement, while not very appealing at nine million per year, is someone we really need. Overpaying in money at this point, while it may bite us in the ass in a couple years, is a must at this point...
-
I don't see it. He was better than more than half of the LFers in the AL in range factor and zone rating, plus, he had zero errors. If he's better than half of them, I guess it'd be OK for me to call him above average. I don't think anyone ever called him a gold glover. We just said that he was above average, and isn't as bad as everyone was calling him...
-
Like you said, if we don't happen to land Pierzynski, I don't think it will be the end of the world, but I'd definitely go after the guy most of us wanted at the beginning of this offseason, Placido Polanco. I still think it would be a good idea bringing Polanco in, playing him at second base against lefties (with Crede starting at third), and playing him at third against righties (with Harris at second -- all of this, of course, if Polanco was 'down' with the idea). It would make our lineup a lot better at the top. It'd give us another option if Pods stumbled, too...
-
Good point, Harris. You can't have it both ways. The Score is bulls***ting us on one of the two. If three years, thirty million was on the table from us, I can't see any way on God's green earth how Clement wouldn't accept; he and his wife seem to really love Chicago, he loved the fact that the Sox contacted him (or vice versa, whatever way it was), and ten million per year is an awesome deal for him. The Score wants to keep up with MVP (Levine reporting the CLee deal, also reporting early this morning about RJ being traded later), so now they're probably at the point of taking *informed* guesses about things. And, I question whether they're even well informed at this point...
-
How so? We still have the second best rotation in the division, and we now have the best bullpen in the division. Our offense is weaker, but the addition of Pierzinski makes the lineup a lot more dangerous, pushing everyone down in the order. Kenny isn't done yet...

Well, fellas, it's Hillcrest tomorrow night... Chisoxrnd5, hope to see you there, like I said, look for the smallest white kid on the team... EDIT: For anyone who cares, we lost by 18. That's not indicitive on how poorly we played, should have been a 30 point loss. Our guards played piss poorly, the refs were s***, and blah -- we played terribly. I did hit a three, though... -
Ditto. I'll admit it, once I've had the taste of what it feels like to sign someone, someone of importance, I want more of that. I'm a greedy bastard. Anyways, I'm thinking along your terms as well. Give me Pierz @ catcher, Polanco @ second, and sign Washburn and let him do it. If not, give it to Diaz. If he can't do it, give Grilli a try. If Grilli can't do it, give Cotts a try. If all those guys fail, well then -- damn. But I think Washburn or Millwood, if they came cheap, would at least be able to eat up innings for us and provide a sub-five ERA from the fifth spot. They can do that, right? EDIT: The lineup would then be very stable, too: LF-Podsednik 2B-Polanco DH-Thomas/Everett (when Thomas is hurt) 1B-Konerko RF-Dye CF-Rowand C-Pierz SS-Uribe 3B-Crede It'd be a nice luxury to have Crede, who potentially could break out (and he'd be a much better player hitting down in the nine hole, would see a lot better pitches), as well as Uribe hitting eighth. That lineup is quietly fearsome, one through nine...
-
Well, it's Perez, or we look towards the lower tier of starting pitcher's, in Jarrod Washburn and Kevin Millwood. I think I'd make an attempt to sign one of the two to a one year deal with a team option for a second year. Let them prove to us that they can pitch, and then cash in the second year. Sign Pierz, and call it an offseason, and I think I'd be pretty happy (but still a little bitter about losing Caballo)...
