I think this deal is official now. Or, is about to be official (via the San Jose Mercury News). The four o'clock press conference should confirm the deal.
-
Well, if Washburn is going to make anything over four million, I'd rather just spend that money towards a MIF'er, and stick Diaz in the fifth starter's spot.
-
If I'm reading the stats correctly, Washburn is an extreme flyball pitcher, and, while I think he'd be a very nice lower of the rotation pitcher, we need a number three or better. I don't think he's a number three, especially pitching at US Cellular...
-
Wow, Tillman man... Stupid penalty there. Just might be the first nail in the coffin...
-
I think we might be looking at the end, folks, if something drastic doesn't happen ASAP....
-
SS2K, maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but I thought that was some piss-poor playcalling once they got down to the 11 yard line. That screen play takes forever to develop, and rarely works, and then they run a three yard pass to the flat? Pathetic...
-
From where did you hear this? ESPNNews, ESPNRadio? Hall isn't much better than what we have now at C, but a lot of people on this board (including me) really like Huff. I wonder what interests Tampa Bay that we have...
-
No? At the very least, it frees up payroll and gives you another option on the free agent market (perhaps giving the Sox enough to make a reasonable offer to Renteria?). Plus, Lilly is a solid pitcher, he'd fit nicely into the number three spot in our rotation, giving us two lefties, too. He had a 4.06 ERA last year, and made 32 starts -- looks like he'll at least give you a 4.50 ERA, and right around 200 IP. I'd definitely be for a move like that.
-
Ugh - we might be in some trouble, folks...
-
What about Konerko + Munoz for Lilly? They probably wouldn't do that, but Lilly would be a very nice pickup...
-
7-0 Jags... Damn, if they lose today, I'm going to be so f***ing pissed. Next week is the first game I'll be attending this year, boy, would I love for it to be a game with playoff implications...
-
Maynard is bailing out this team's collective ass by some awesome punting right now...
-
I'll take the Jags. They're uber-pissed about the last-minute loss vs. Pittsburg last weekend, and I think we come up just short -- Jags 17, Bears 13. That said, make me eat crow, Bears, and I'll enjoy it...
-
Don't add too much on the topic, mmkay? :rolly If he came cheap, it'd be a nice move. It's got "Kenny" written all over it -- low risk, high reward. He definitely shouldn't be relied upon, though, as someone who should just be given the fifth starter's spot. JMHO.

Hmm,,,,,,, Flordia needs a 1Bmann, ehh? If we were to take a crappy contract off their hands, like Gonzo, I wonder if they'd consider a Konerko+Harris for Gonzo+Castillo swap, with obviously some prospects included on our side... (Sorry if this post is crappily typeddd, a little too much Bacardi O for me tonight
-
We definitely cannot go into next year with both holes, that's for sure. Most likely, one of them will still be there. It's really a must that we can get some nice value for Konerko. Is trading Konerko to Florida even an option?
-
Can Valdez play second? Or, did he play second in the minors?
-
Jeckle - who starts at 2B against lefties? Because, you know Harris can't start against lefties. It'd be almost better to put the pitcher out there, he's that bad... Gosh, can't Kenny be given a couple million more to sign Miguel Cairo? Would it even take a couple million more? What'd he make last season?
-
Probably a lot of truth to it. IIRC, the Marlins really, really want to dump Gonzalez, and there's the Ozzie connection here, plus -- we still have a hole at SS or 2B, whichever of the two Uribe isn't occupying. Then again, a deal wouldn't be made for Gonzalez alone. We'd be getting a relief pitcher, or someone -- Luis Castillo would be nice, but that's most likely a dream.
-
Maybe a break for us? If it's nothing TOO serious, I wouldn't mind giving him four-five million over two years...
-
I know I'm pretty late on this, but Manny Ramirez and Pedro Martinez are two guys that don't seem to be very serious on the field, yet when it comes down to business, they get the job done... Same goes for Carlos.
-
The answer to that lies within if the Sox are able to land another starter. So, my answer is undecided.
-
The terms of the draft are always located within the CBA. No CBA = No Draft. (Unfortunately, for us 'Hawk fans...)
-
Red&White, I'm curious, you think they're going to give Harris full reigns to the first spot in the order? It's probably pounded into your head by (if) you've read all the crap I've typed, but I'm definitely willing to give that 2B platoon the leadoff spot... (Cairo/Harris, preferably).
-
Aren't he and Joey brothers? Agreed on the rest of your post.
