  1. But with Contreras, his ERA really doesn't, or won't, tell you the whole story. He'll have games where he'll go into the eight strong innings, giving up no runs or one run. Then, there will be those games where he'll barely make it out of the second inning. He's a total question mark. Like I said in a thread a while back, he was the only (starting) pitcher on our staff to have a better ERA at home than on the road...
  2. Man - If the light clicked on with Contreras, we'd have one hell of a pitcher on our hands... If he could pitch well for even 75% of the season, we'd have a pitcher who'd give us 200+ innings, (most likely) a sub-3 ERA, a s***load of strikeouts... Unfortunately, I don't think that will happen...
  3. Let us know when you get to 100% complete. I'm interested in what happens...
  4. I bet Kenny knows a lot more on how to win baseball games than a lot of people on this board (I'll leave it at that)...
  5. Oh, don't get me wrong -- I'm not defending the move. But some people (not jokingly) are criticizing the move like it's going to ruin this team and screw us. He's making 100,000 bucks if he sucks -- if he's any good, we got him for a half a million...
  6. And no one gave two flying f***s last year when we traded for Juan Uribe. OK - go ahead and b**** all you want. He's making 100,000 -- go ahead and start losing some sleep over that.
  7. One more thing... Your argument about how Johnson wouldn't even win 15 games is an absolute joke. You make the case for Garland winning 12, potentially 16-18 -- yet Johnson wouldn't even get to 15??? That's laughable... Get off of his knob already. You like him. We get the point -- you don't need to bang it into our heads time and time again...
  8. Quit bringing the age factor into play. Or, if you're gonna use the age factor, back it up good enough. Nolan Ryan pitched well into his 40's. Roger Clemens is pitching very well at 40. And, to a lesser extent (not quite 40, but still old), Greg Maddux and Curt Schilling are pitching well at old ages. BTW - the opposing pitcher also has to pitch at the Cell. You do know that, correct? And, when Johnson is striking out 10-15 guys per game, the Cell being a launching pad becomes much less of a factor. FWIW, in 14 IP at Coors Field, Johnson has given up five ER -- a 3.21 ERA. Small sample size, but that's that...
  9. Hmm... Sorry if I come off as an ass, but none of the above? What about Crede's game winning homers (Seattle comes to mind instantly)? What about Lee's bomb in the ninth against LaTroy to tie the Cubbies up in Pissville? How about Timo's homer against Florida? Or Kelly Drandsfeldt's game tying hit against Tampa? Or Konerko's game-winner in the pouring rain at the Cell against Baltimore in a rain-shortened game? Like I said, I don't mean to come off as an ass, but these were the ones that stuck out in my mind, really none of them from your list above... JMHO.
  10. Rotoworld Article on Rule V Draft I see two former White Sox players on there in Webster and Ring - but, besides that -- anyone of interest on there that the Sox might be looking at, or that particularly interests you? (I'm interested in your guys' opinions, as I know absolutely nothing about any of the players outside the Sox' farm system).
  11. Why? It's summer. You want to be nice and cozy, buy seats in the Club Level... (Except, obviously, for the April games and, hopefully next year, October baseball.)
  12. They haven't gotten us to the playoffs. But have those moves specifically (Marte, Shingo, Gordon) prevented us from going to the playoffs? No, in fact, they've made us a better team... I don't know why you ask that question, one move 'alone' will really never get you to the playoffs, because in baseball, one player doesn't make a team...
  13. Heated seats? You're kidding, right?
  14. Just a hunch -- but you were probably saying the same thing when the Sox picked up Damaso Marte... And most likely, you were probably saying (when the Sox picked up 'Flash' Gordon), "Why the hell are we going after this washed up bum?". And, yet again, when the Sox signed Shingo Takatsu, I'm just guessing that your thoughts were along the lines of, "Wow, the Sox are so cheap, they have to go to Japanese pitchers to get who they want." Holy s***, people, the guy will be making 100,000 if he sucks. If he's any good, he gets half a million. b**** b**** b**** b**** b****... Geez...
  15. Kendall fans, don't get too worked up over this. Just my humble opinion, but I really, really doubt that Kendall wanted to come here in the first place...
  16. I think rather than Vazquez, I'd go after Brown. When healthy, he's a pretty dominant pitcher, probably even moreso than Vazquez. Also, if this team is out of it by the trading deadline, we'd definitely be able to get a nice package of players (you know how teams LOVE to trade for quality SP's at the ASB). Konerko for Brown straight up, with the Yankees eating all of Konerko's contract, and a little more than half of Brown's contract. It'd give you a pretty solid starting pitcher, as well as a little more payroll flexibility for which you can use to sign (at least one of) a MIF (Polanco), a RFer (Dye), and a reliever. Even last year, in such an injury riddled season, he was still able to put up a 4.09 ERA. Maybe it's just me, but I like this scenario a lot. He's off the payroll in '06, if we start off poorly, we can get a lot for him at the deadline. And, if he pitches well, then you have a solid 1-2-3 with Brown-Buehrle-Garcia. Thoughts?
  17. IMO, it would be pretty funny ended up getting in. Battle of the two baseball rejects...
  18. I don't have a link, but watching the CBS Sports part, they had an interview that said he's gonna play. If someone wants to find the link on Rotoworld, that'll be great. Pretty good news. Lovie said he doesn't know how many plays he'll be in for, but he will play...
  19. Redmond and Rhodes for Kendall? You mean we couldn't top that offer? Ah, nevermind. I assume Kenny would easily be able to top it, just that Kendall wants to play out on the west coast... Nice deal for Beane, though.
  20. You go to Andrew, Knuckle? Or 56789? We're playing Andrew tonight for the Thanksgiving Tourney Championship, that's why I ask. Should be a fun game...
  21. Has anyone tried deep-frying their turkey? My family has been interested in trying it (not this year), but from what I've heard, it's very delicious. Anyone ever have it? As for favorite Thanksgiving dish. Sweet potatoes are a definite favorite of mine. And then there's the turkey. Probably the best food of the year comes within these next two months...
  22. I'll be the first to admit I was dead wrong. Colts offense is awesome. Go get 'em on Thanksgiving, Bears...
  23. Too many missed opportunities early by this team. We should have had two turnovers by now, but guys can't seem to hang onto the ball today. Third down. COME ON DEFENSE!
  24. WHarris, everytime Edinger kicks today, keep guaranteeing those misses, because everytime you've gauranteed a miss, he's made it. Keep up the good work.
  25. Yeah, I take these games way too seriously. Honestly, I live and die with every play in these games. Maybe that's not a good thing, but I love my Bears. BTW - I saw nothing wrong with what you posted in the thread, FWIW.
