  1. Can you point out, where exactly, I said I want Borchard to be the RFer? Don't put words in my mouth, cause that's not cool... I've suggested Dye, but more realistically (this could be good or bad, depending how dedicated Carl still is), Everett...
  2. How so? Kendall/Polanco would be one of the best leadoff tandems in the AL... Your suggestions thus far have consisted of signing guys because they have a World Series Ring, and rounding way, way up (Hitting .277 is NOT equal to hitting .300 - so don't try to pass a career .256 hitter as a .300 hitter :rolly ). And Polanco, in our situation, is much much much >>> than Cabrera.
  3. Yeah, I know what you're saying. Me putting Dye in there is probably a dream. Realistically, I think we see an '05 outfield of Lee-Rowand-Everett - I'd like to see Dye here, I think he'd do some major damage here at the Cell, especially if we could get him at under five million... If Everett's comittment/offseason work ethic is good enough where we don't need to get a replacement, then I'll be totally OK with him in RF -- pretty good power, draws walks, solid player. Just wondering though, SoxAce. Say there was a scenario in which we got both Polanco and Kendall. We'd put those two at the top of the order -- so we'd still have the first five hitters being right handed (Kendall-Polanco-Thomas-Lee-Rowand) -- would you be OK with that?
  4. Oh man... My sophomore team played Thorton in a tourney last year. Ugh, not pretty... Down 31-4 at the end of the first quarter. I, personally, got dunked on about four times. It sucked ass. BTW - I think we actually stay a bit closer with Hillcrest this year than in the past. Our perimeter shooting is second to none in the conference (I'd say better than Hillcrest's outside shooters), we actually got a big guy this year who can play inside and bang with Hillcrest's big guys, and we're a lot more athletic than in the past. Don't get me wrong, I'm not predicting a victory, but I think we stay within 20 (and considering the ass-whips we've received in the past, that's not terrible). Just gotta get Hillcrest out of that 1-2-2 halfcourt trap -- that's the key.
  5. Hell, getting just Polanco would be fine with me. Get me one -- just one consistant hitter at the top of the lineup, because we know we have a pretty solid player in Rowand who'd probably be able to fill in the two spot. Then, just load up on the bullpen and rotation. Ideally, I'd do something along the lines of... Trading Konerko to a team (haven't quite thought this out yet... ) for a solid reliever, one solid position player, and a prospect (get the best deal that you possibly can for PK). Sign Dye to play RF. Then, you have: -Polanco -Rowand -Thomas -Lee -Dye -Gload -Uribe -Harris/Crede (Depending on the hot bat, lefty righty matchup -- Polanco plays the opposite position, then.) -Davis/Burke Bench of Everett, Valdez, Perez, and whoever isn't playing in the platoon's above. With a rotation of Buehrle, Garcia, (Player traded for/signed), Contreras, Garland. In the bullpen, you have Cotts, Adkins, and Diaz/Baj doing the long relief/mopup stuff (Cotts should have a more important role this year, though), Politte/Marte/Reliever traded for doing the sixth/seventh/eighth, to Shingo. The team still lacks the one 'dominant' starter, but it's still solid. You have an improved bullpen, an improved, bit more consistent (IMHO) lineup, and still a pretty solid rotation. Sorry, I wanted to make one of my 'dream' lineup posts in one of these threads, but I apologize about the length.
  6. Wow, easy question. Higher average. Better consistancy. Higher OBP. Higher OPS. More flexibility in the infield. Better defensively. More power. Anything else? The list is pretty long... EDIT: LOL! I love it how me, qwerty, and Cheat swarmed that question like hawks...
  7. Yeah, I'm pretty sure he'll be doing it again with whoever (Mr. Gonz and Mr. Leftler, I think...).
  8. Just wanted to let you guys know early. If you want to see one of the top basketball teams in the state (Ranked 26th in the nation ), also one of the top basketball players in the country (me, of course ) -- come see me and my team play the Hillcrest Hawks. Their backcourt will be attending Marquette and Ball State next fall, and in the future, they have two other D1 players on their roster. Of course, I won't play (you should be able to see me easily, the little white boy on the end of the Oak Forest bench), but if you wanna come, cool. We get them twice a year, every year (lucky us, in our conference). So, just letting whoever is interested know...
  9. Speaking on a bit of an off note, fore a second... When I got home, and logged on to Soxtalk, and saw the thread, "Guzman Signs with Washington", I had just a thrill of excitement run up and down me. Don't ask why, I just really did not want this team giving five million to a guy who had a sub-.310 OBP last year. Now, here's to hoping Polanco is a White Sock by next week...
  10. It still pisses me off though, Jason. If you put 'other' up there -- and it's a Chicago White Sox fan board -- put two and two together, some people are gonna be Bear fans. We're pumped, three game winning streak, awesome defense, huge game this weekend. So what if we say we think the Bears have a good chance at the title game? No need to get your panites in a knot about it... That being said, I don't even think the Bears make the playoffs. I think they come really close, but 8-8 or so -- hell, that might get them a wildcard, but I think they come up one game short. But, surprise me.
  11. Thanks for telling me the future, Miss Cleo... :rolly I doubt you predicted them beating the Titans, or the Packers either. People need to shut their mouths sometimes. BTW - you call Jason a Bears fan, but, he's from California and has no bias towards the Bears, IIRC. You put 'other' up there, and when someone says Bears, you jump all over them. Pathetic.
  12. Sure, why not, I'll take a shot: Shawn Chacon Placido Polanco Ramon Ortiz
  13. Red&White, the only reason I can think of how Sheff finished above Ortiz and Ramirez is probably because Ortiz took votes from Ramirez, and vice versa. If only one of those two is going up for MVP, IMHO, one of the two wins the MVP. But congrats to Vladdy for winning the MVP. EDIT: Stupid me, I see SS2k already said this. My bad. :banghead

    Halo 2

Ditto. Knuckle, go away -- if you don't like it, don't read the friggin' thread. It's about the eighth time you've posted 'most overrated game'. We get the point. Tony, to tell you the truth, I thought the cutscenes were just about as realistic as one of the new Star Wars movies. Awesome graphics. Aboz, I'll probably get the trial in the upcoming weeks. I'll let you know my ID and stuff...
  15. Sosa isn't a superstar anymore... Like Jason said -- a piss poor contract for a piss poor player. Bad defense, bad clubhouse presence, bad contract, worsening at the plate.
  16. Jose is a total f***ing enigma at this point. Hell -- he's the only guy on our staff (granted, in limited time) who put up a BETTER ERA at the Cell than he did on the road. That's just... baffling, IMHO... Anyways - we don't know what we're going to get from Jose next year. At least, I don't think I know. He could go out and dominate -- we all know he has some killer stuff, but like Jonny -- it's all between ears. I'm willing to give Jose another year with us. When he's on (meaning, when he's confident, he's got his splitter working, his fastball a' blazin) -- he is absolutely unhittable. Then again, when he's pitching like s***, he's also unhittable -- it's just, he's wild as f*** and walks everything in sight... (Wow, sorry for all of my F words in the post...)

    Halo 2

For those who have the game... what do ya think? I got it tonight, absolutely love it. I've done the first two missions, just killed the big ass bug, now I'm taking the alien's role. I'm interested to see how the storyline goes with the alien, then switching back to masterchief. Aboz -- you got X-Box Live already? Is it worth it, for just Halo alone? Because, that's the only game I'd play online. I know there's a free two month trial in my Halo 2 case, so I'll probably just use that. But, back to the game. Absolutely awesome... GTA: SA and Halo 2 will definitely keep me busy for the next couple months...
  18. Question on Dye, since I'm a lazy ass right now: I know his OBP isn't very high, and I know that he has some pretty good power, but is he a high strikeout guy too? Or middle of the pack?
  19. Santo, I probably should have mentioned somewhere in there that Pitt would be eating some of the contract, even with the reliever thrown in... Like SS2K said, hell, I wouldn't mind if the Sox ate all the contract... ...If they wanna give us Oliver Perez.
  20. Why? No need for yet another low OBP, streaky hitter... Vizquel fits our needs.
  21. If Kenny pulls the trigger on a trade for Kendall, I really hope that he has Pitt eat 3-4 million. IIRC, at the end of Kendall's contract, he's making right around 12 million -- and while Kendall is a solid players, he's not a 12 million dollar player. I'd tell you what I would do... Kendall + Reliever (Gonzalez would be real nice, but probably a dream) for Konerko + Low level prospect. Maybe it's a dream (the above trade), but what do you guys think?
  22. IMHO, there's nothing wrong with not going over three years, too. One injury could ruin a pitcher's career; so staying on three year contracts, with team options or player options for the fourth year is the way to go, IMO.
  23. If Dye would come cheap, I'd definitely go for him. IMHO, he'd replace Paul Konerko very nicely (offensive production wise), and I think he'd really tee off here at the Cell... Kendall, I like, if they eat a lot of his salary from the backend of that ridiculous contract.
  24. Unlike Billy Koch (someone correct me if I'm wrong), Percival still has a mean changeup. Koch threw the ball -- he didn't pitch. He threw it up there as fast as he could, and that worked for a year or two...
  25. witesoxfan, I think we're on the same page here. We both believe that, if this team were to make the playoffs, we'd be pretty damn set - Johnson to Garcia to Buehrle is unbelievably good. However -- we gotta make it there first. And that's where a strong bullpen comes into play. To get to the playoffs -- I don't care if you have 1-5 Roger Clemens', you need a strong bullpen. I'm confident in Marte. I'm semi-confident in Shingo. I'm iffy on Politte. Adkins and Cotts, IMHO, will be a little more reliable this year, but still not big time relievers. If we can make this trade -- and Kenny is able to squeeze a couple more dimes outta Uncle Jerry, so we can aquire a Percival, a Jorge Julio -- then I do this deal. However, if this trade restricts us to the point where we cannot make another deal -- another deal BEFORE the season, then screw it.
