Raising some thoroughbreds!

Shea, that's f***ing pathetic. You need two yards, and you can't get it on two plays? Against this defense? That's terrible. -

If Shea thinks he's gonna have any success just by passing the ball, he ought to go and live with John Shoop. Run the f***ing ball. -

Wow... Bears defense, meet an awesome offense. -

What the f*** is that? This run defense sucks, and you throw the ball THREE times? Come on, Shea... Think. -

No matter what happens, I expect to see a supreme effort from our guys. Lovie has had this team prepared since day one, and he seems to be an awesome motivator. I expect no different today. GO BEARS! -
To tell you the truth, I expected no different from him, but oh well... Go Bears, huh?

Guys, come on. Can we drop it? I know that I haven't been an angel on this board lately, but this is getting pathetic. Every thread is turning into a friggin' pissing match, and it's making this board a little less enjoyable for those who really want to talk baseball, and about our Sox. Plus, I bet it's a pain in the ass for the mods to have to be monitoring (sp?) every single thread -- as yesterday, one was closed because of it. If you have a good baseball argument/discussion, that's great. But let's keep the personal attacks to a minimum. Can we do that?
-
Thanks Ms. Cleo... :rolly Great argument.

*At home*, Konerko is an All-Star caliber player. Unfortunately, you play 81 road games too. Johnson would be an absolutely awesome pickup, IMHO. If you can get him fairly cheap, I'd definitely love the pickup.

Ditto. However, if we want to win this game, two things need to happen. Our defensive line needs to have their best game of the season, and Jones has to be the centerpoint of the offense. Hell, give it to Jones/Thomas a combined 50 times today. We're gonna need to win the ToP, as well as the turnover battle. -
One bad season? You mean one 'good' season, right? Highest OBP ever was .330, highest average was .277 (other years, below .250). I'm done for the night.

Wow - you're terrible at providing an argument for a player, and you're also a hypocrit. Only ONE time in Jay Gibbons four year career has he posted 500+ AB's. Yet, Nick Johnson, who also seems to have the same injury bug (except in this case, Johnson is better in just about every offensive category) -- is a bad option? This is absolutely pathetic, yet funny...
-
If that isn't an understatement...
-
I finally figured it out, fellas... If you combine Cabrera's and Gibbons' career OPS'/OBP, then you have a better OPS/OBP than Nick Johnson. Ahh, now I got it...
-
Qwerty and SSI, just stop. At this point in the thread, it seems like the two of you are talking to a brick wall. Honestly. We all know who's provided the better argument, and in turn, who the better player is. Let him live in his little world of Kenny being the worst GM in baseball, and us ''clanning'' up against him...
-
Hmm, the only client that comes to mind right now (I know there's more) of Boras is Milwood...
-
Thank God we won't be getting a guy who led the league in K's and posted a sub-3 ERA last season...?
-
I like the Guillen move, but... Uribe is much, much >>>>> Guzman. And, as terrible as Crede is, Crede is still >>>> than Castilla.
-
You know this for a fact, how? I hate to harp on your age again (because I don't like doing it), but I don't know a lot of 14-year-olds who are allowed full access to the clubhouse, Spring Training, and are able to watch Jon's offseason workout program... Jon is reliable in the sense that in most of the games he pitches, he'll keep the scoring to four runs or less, he'll give you 200+ innings as a pitcher, and he'll also give you a sub-five ERA. If you have a number five that is able to do that, you should have a pretty damn good top four. At this point, Garland is a five. He still has room for improvement, but I don't know why (maybe you're not) you still have expectations of him to pitch as a number one...
-
Congrats, Soxtalk! A home for me for at least three hours a day...
-
No. You're just mad that because if we dealt for Johnson, we'd lose your boy Garland (and it's so obvious at this point that you probably wouldn't trade Garland for anyone in the majors). And Konerko is not equal to half of our offense. I'd venture to say that Gload would, in the end, provide the same production as Konerko (less homers, less RBI's, but most likely a higher average, more doubles, even OPS). Like I said in another thread -- if the offer is just Garland/Konerko for Johnson, you HAVE to do it. Have to.
-
Hey, keep believing what you want. This whole "Soxtalk Clan" is totally against you, and is bent against arguing and disagreeing with every point you make. As for your argument against Kenny Williams moves, like Marte and Uribe and Loaiza -- thanks for the laugh, I almost fell out of my chair... But like you said, we know nothing, and you should be the GM, because if you were our GM, we'd never have a losing season, never lose the World Series. You are -- awesome. (And green isn't being used for super obvious reasons...)
-
When most everyone on the board disagrees with you... Chances are -- in most cases, not all, but most -- that you're wrong. And don't take this as something like all of us are teaming up on you, cause that's not the case. But you're just flat out wrong, and you're making yourself look really, really bad when saying you can do half the job Kenny has done, and by acting like a pompous jackass.
-
No, they're 9th. So what that Volek piled up 300+ yards on our defense? At the end of the day, the pick that he threw, and the inability to alude the pressure on the safety, lost the game for them. Bottom line - points per game matters, not yards...
