Welcome to Soxtalk! If you're a Philly fan, send Bobby Abreu to Chicago!
-
Cerb, without getting too much into it, what is SNLVA and SNVA? I got lost right around there, and I like reading posts that use some of these more uncommon stats...
-
Good point. You're totally correct -- every fifth day, we'd have to use at least three pitchers. It definitely took it's toll on the bullpen at the end of the season. Wright is an 'intriguing' player to talk about, that's for sure. (If that's good or bad, I don't know...)
-
Ok, for the last time. I'll put it in big font so you can see it, nice and clearly now. OK, ready? Here we go: TURNER FIELD ISN'T A FRIGGIN' PITCHERS PARK! IT'S MORE OF A HITTER'S PARK! CHEAT SHOWED YOU EVIDENCE OF IT BEING A HITTER'S PARK, YET YOU STILL REFER TO IT AS A PITCHER'S PARK! I apologize to the rest of the board for that...

Keep stirrin that pot, buddy. I cherish the day when you take it one step too far, and it's bye-bye for you... Back to the topic, while I'm not very comfortable with the three year deal, two years for ten million would be a bargain, IMHO. If this guy is healthy, he's a damn good number two, and he's going to be in our three spot. Gotta keep that arm healthy though... The only thing I dislike about him is that he's never pitched over 200 innings in his career. If he's incapable of pitching a lot of innings, that'll really bite us in the ass come September. Ozzie loves keeping the starters out there till 120 pitches, or right around there.
-
Or maybe you should just check your spelling more, how about it? And your trade is completely bogus... Back to the point of the thread, I'd like to think that we're at least looking at Odalis Perez, but who knows. One thing is for certain -- and this is so super obvious, I don't even know why I'm saying it -- but we need to find another starter, capable of pitching at least like a #3...

With a St. Louis loss tonight, here are the standings for the sixth and final spot for the NFC Playoffs: Rams 5-5 ------------------ 0 Giants 5-6 -------------- .5 (Cardinals, Bucs, Saints, Panthers, Lions, Bears, Cowboys) -- All are 4-7, one and a half game back. Redskins 3-8 ------------ 2.5 Really, really terrible, but 7-9 might be good enough to get any of the above teams into the playoffs. Personally, I think the Panthers are rollin', and I think they'll make a comeback to grab the spot. Pisses me off that the Bears couldn't take down friggin' Dallas, though... It's also a b**** that so many injuries had to occur, but oh well, that's football. Kinda sucks though that there will be at least three teams in the AFC with better records than that sixth spot in the NFC, yet don't get in the playoffs...

Jeckle, I like your thinking, but even you know Uribe cannot bat second... I personally like him in more of an RBI position, sixth or seventh. JMHO.

Before we get all into Javier Vazquez, I want to make sure I know two things about him: 1.) He's 100% healthy, no shoulder problems, no arm problems. 2.) I want to be positive that he knows what he has to do, or someone within the organization knows what to do, to get his arm back up in the slot (or whatever they called it), like he had it in the first half of the season. If both of these things are good, IMHO, Konerko and a mid-leveler (like mentioned earlier in the thread) for Vazquez should be good, with 'Zone or NY eating some of his contract. A healthy, corrected Vazquez is pretty dominant. Look at his first half stats. Damn good.
-
I'm also interested in that, too... Shouldn't a player excel regardless of where he plays, ala Vlad Guerrero? If a player is 'that' good, he should excel regardless of what situation he's in... Back to the article, no on Nishi, but Iguchi looks real interesting... Above average defense (which would probably translate to just average on natural grass), but what intrigues me most are his SB numbers, and his OBP (.438). He's definitely a guy I'd look at...
-
Just wondering... Is OBS a new stat? Or are you talking about OBP? Or OPS?
-
Umm... Isn't he an absolutely terrible fielder? Not the guy we need. High power, low OBP righty. We have enough of those...

Ah, nevermind, I beat it. Problem with me, I went in through the front entrance, and about 15 security guards just shot my ass down with those AK's. I beat it though, so nevermind... -

WSF56789, got any tips on the mission (forgot it's name) where you gotta steal the helicopter from the military complex, which you then you to steal an armored car (it's a leadup to the heist mission). I get in there and get shot down immediately. Is there a back entrance? Or, is there a plane I should use to get in there? EDIT: It's called "Up, Up, and Away!". -

Aww boo... I'm dissappointed with the ending of the mission. He jumps in the water and the mission is over, no runnin from the cops, no shootin down helicopters, that's it? Boo, I want a refund... -

Yeah, stupid me. I didn't even see how high that corona was, lol... But, after that part, any tips on the generator part? Looks pretty tough, I haven't tried it yet, but it says to just stay in the shadows. Any tips? -

Can someone help me out with the mission "Dam and Blast"? I have absolutely no idea where to even land the plane, or am I supposed to jump out of the plane? I'm so confused... -
How so? Maybe your math is totally different than mine, and maybe I'm way off base here, but 17 times 4.5 equals 76.50. I didn't know that JR was selling outfield seats for 76 bucks this season. Damn, looks like I won't be able to make it out to many games this season...
-
Speaking of which, I don't ever recall a full price ticket being sold as cents, rather than to the whole dollar (i.e. a ticket being 8.50 -- that doesn't make sense, they'd always round up and just have the ticket at nine bucks). But how could I question you, Anthrax? Ye who called Orlando Cabrera the best defensive shortstop in the AL?
-
Hmm... If only I knew what 'eveidence' was, then we'd have a nice little problem here...
-
What -- is that hard for you to understand? SS2k just totally proved you wrong, yet you're argument is that, "I have the ticket that says 8.50", which is totally BS. You = Joke. Is that clearer?
-
Ugh... Why is the NFC such a f***ing tease this year? If this team could have played .500 football for this whole season, we'd be in the playoffs. Injuries really are a b****...
-
If you're thinking about 2010 in 2005, you got problems... I think this should be our last hurrah. Go for it this year, if we don't get there (at least the playoffs), blow this team and up start from scratch. JMHO.
-
Adding on to Jeckle's sentiments, he'll also have one offseason behind him in which is whole family will have had been with him, rather than back in Cuba. If Contreras is going to have any type of major league success, this upcoming year is definitely the right time to do it...
