  1. Yeah - I'm all for making moves, but then I think - What if? What if Joe Borchard actually gets all of his stuff together? If he did, he's going to be one hell of an outfielder. That's why I probably wouldn't make a good GM. Knightni, why not Sabathia? Look at his numbers - (Cheat, I really like when you post stats because they're nice and easy to read, so maybe if you could take a minute and post his stats through his four years? If not it's OK, I just wanted to show the people.) - Almost every catagory for Sabathia has been declining over the years, from WHIP, to ERA, to Opponent Avg. He can pitch deep into games, too. I think in 2002 he pitched about 210 innings, and come on, this Indian team doesn't have the best pen/offense. I think people (myself included) look at only what the only team is getting, not what we're getting. What I mean is, people look at say if we traded Neal Cotts, "Well, I would hate to see Neal pitching against us." or "Damn, what if Joe Borchard actually pans out and kills us?" Well, people don't think like "Wow, CC Sabathia would really kill the Indians, and, Look at our rotation with Sabathia in it - Buerhle-Sabathia-Loaiza-Garland-Schoenweis" That's pretty good." I hope my blurts made absolutely any sense.
  2. So, when is hitting a home run everything? And, get your facts straight - he's hitting closer to .280 with a still fairly high OBP with two injury-writtled (sp?) wrists (Or is it just one?). Either way - we need people to grow some balls and step up.
  3. Honestly, for the first time since Opening Day - I've got that sickening feeling in my stomach. I want it to go away but it won't. Spin it any way you want, if he's out four to seven weeks, that plain sucks. This is the toughest part of our schedule, we have to play a pretty tough NL East this year, and going through it without a DH and Mags is huge. Wow... Just wow. Alright White Sox - Let's see what you're made of. Jon Garland? It's time for you to step up. You have to be on your game now - if there is a stretch where you just dominate the competition, now is the time. Same goes for a lot of others on this team, not just Garland. Rowand - You have your shot. Prove to us you're capable of being an everyday outfielder. Ross Gload - we kept you here for a reason, time to prove it. Timo Perez - OK, so you had some nice clutch hits so far. But now, IMO, you're in a bit bigger role. And the three that need to carry us. Carlos Lee - You got a 19 game hitting streak, which is all fine and dandy, but we need more than just one hit per game. Paul Konerko - It's June, buddy. Your month. Time to kill the ball. And IMO, the person that needs to have a huge month - Frank Thomas - It's your time...
  4. I hate idiots who say stupid things - like you. :dips***
  5. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...s_cws&fext=.jsp He's likely headed to the DL. He's going back to Chicago to have his knee scoped, if he has knee surgery, let's hope not, but damn... Who do we call up? I hope it's Borchard, but they are saying it's Burke... I hope they give Joe Borchard an actual chance to let him start up here for a week or two, every day, and see what he's made of.
  6. Jeckle - that's the best post I've ever seen you write. Totally agreed. We didn't play particularly well, and we lost. Forget about it, and go get 'em in Seattle.
  7. Agreed. If Garland could ever live up to his potential - we will have a nice 1-2 punch in the rotation for years to come.
  8. Well, witesox, let me tell you this. Otis said that Kenny feels that, for each of the situations: For Sheets, the Brewer GM would want a combo of Cotts/ Borchard or Reed. For Sabathia, same as Sheets (BTW, I'd do the trade of Borchard and Cotts for Sabathia. Sabathia is still very young (23) and his numbers have gone down each of the four years he's been in the majors.) For Garcia, Kenny feels that he wouldn't have to give up Borchard/Reed or anyone from the big club. So the questions are this: How badly do you guys want this division/playoffs? Is it worth parting with a Jeremy Reed/Joe Borchard to get a pitcher like CC Sabathia or Ben Sheets? Is getting Freddy Garcia without giving up your best people on the farm better than getting a Ben Sheets but giving up one of your better prospects? Like I said, if the Cleveland GM called me up and said "Will you give me Neal Cotts and Joe Borchard for CC Sabathia?", I would do it. Sabathia would basically replace Cotts' future on the team as another solid lefty in the rotation, and while I love the potential of Joe Borchard, I think power is not an issue with this team. We need an OBP guy like Jeremy Reed, to get on in front of people like Big Frank and (hopefully) Mags Ordonez. You have to give something to get something - Borchard and Cotts for Sabathia IMO would be a good trade.
  9. Yep, People are talking about how we don't have an ace who could start Game 1 for us in the ALDS. I disagree.
  10. OK, and as I look at the standings, I see the White Sox at the top of the AL Central, and we will be there for the remainder of tonight into tommorow. That's what I see in the standings.
  11. Maybe sitting Joe for a couple of days lit a fire under his ass? 4-5 tonight, with some very solid, short swings. Very good game for Joe, if he starts to heat up, that is huge. I just wanted to bring a positive into this pool of negativity.
  12. He was the one who brought the rumor of the offseason huge deal (Maggs to Boston, Nomar to Chicago, A-Rod to Boston) about a month or so before it even happened. He has credibility. He even mentioned the Wunsch/Bellhorn deal that was going to go down (Had Wunsch not been injured). BTW, that deal was going to happen - JR even mentioned it when he was on with the Wise Guys a while back.
  13. And like clockwork, like the bandwagon jumper he is, Wsoxshuf comes in with more pessimism. Please, shut up. :fyou
  14. Rumor has it the Sox are after C.C. Sabathia, Ben Sheets, and Freddy Garcia. Take it for worth it's worth. I'll elaborate more if you want me to, it isn't coming from me but someone (and he isn't just some guy who felt like posting a pipedream rumor) from WSI posted it (Otis).
  15. Nuke - I'm not talking about going up against Mulder. Two times, late in the game, after Mulder had been pulled, Sandy and Rowand had a chance to do some two out damage (both times with the bases loaded, so a hit in either situation and we're talking about a White Sox winner.). Aaron Rowand, I don't know why the hell, but he swings at a 2-0 pitch, a s***ty swing, and grounds out. I think Sandy did the same. Sandy had another opportunity but screwed up. Another thing I wanted to add to the positive list: -Joe Crede, 4-5. Heat up Joe, Heat up kid!
  16. Beastly, I usually don't agree with you, but here I do. Get over it, he blew the game, but look at the other factors, not just Koch: a.) Lack of clutch hitting (Rowand, Sandy, but not those two exclusively) b.) Alomar let Koch's one breaking pitch go threw his legs. Thus, Koch loses faith in Alomar being able to stop his breaking pitches. Thus, he doesn't want to throw breaking pitches, thus he can only throw a fastball (Enough with the thus' already, lol). One thing leads to another... Look at the positives: - Mark Buerhle is absolutely DEALING right now. Filthy, absolutely filthy right now. He has his backdoor curve working, and he is on fire. I look for a win from him right now, each and every start. -The top of the order is getting the job done, still. Juan Uribe might be cooling off a bit, but he's still drawing his share of walks, and still has good hacks up at the plate. Same goes for Wee Willie. -Congrats to Big Frank for tying Luke Appling on the All-Time Sox list for Doubles (IIRC)! -Congrats to Carlos Lee, hitting streak at 19 Games (Knock on Wood) ! But, the bad thing is, once he gets it it seems like he doesn't even want to get a hit anymore. I hope he isn't being content with just getting that one hit per game...
  17. It doesn't help when our best hitter is out of the lineup. Theirs is too, but considering as it is we don't play well on the west coast, it doesn't help having your best hitter on the bench. Get well soon, Maggs, we need ya!
  18. Well, I'm not trying to defend Koch, but: Sandy Alomar really, really, really f***ed up today, both behind the plate and with the stick. Offensively he could not get a hit with RISP to save his life, that was so friggin terrible. Defensively - Koch threw ONE breaking pitch, it was a pitch in the dirt that you need for your catcher to stop for you. Sandy let it go right through his legs, thus, Koch can basically only throw one pitch, a fastball. I don't think Koch has much confidence in Sandy being able to stop his breaking pitch in the dirt. Sandy - I love your clubhouse presence, your a good guy and all, but damn, you HAVE to be able to stop a ball in the dirt...
  19. Yeah - no one likes Adkins for giving up the homer, but it shouldn't have came down to that. A.) Billy Koch blown save. B.) Total lack of clutch hitting today. Let's go D-Rays.
  20. Anyone else still think this offense is as powerful as it could be with Magglio Ordonez in the lineup? Bleh - our pitching sucked, Koch, you're an ass, but damn, talk about a lack of clutch hitting. Aaron Rowand and Sandy Alomar, Alomar twice, with chances to do some two out damage. Sandy strands four, Rowand strands three on a 2-0 count. f***ing f***.
  21. Thanks a lot Billy. Thanks a lot, you f***.
  22. Aww - Casey breaks it up. He retired the first 20 but now he's done... Damn.
