I'll be sure to give you guys my take on Grant Johnson at the regionals at ND. So far, the pitchers that I like so far with the sandwich/second round picks are Fox and Howell. I'd be happy with either of Powell/Suzuki at catcher. Sorry, this is a pretty stupid question that I think I know the answer to, but is Suzuki any relation to Ichiro?

Well - Many sources have indicated that JR has given Kenny the OK to up the payroll if a trade came to pass. BTW - Damn, Braden Looper has been great so far this year, or so it seems, just looking at the stats: In 26 Games (About 30 IP), a 1.20 ERA, 11 Saves in 12 opportunities, 22 Strikouts, with a WHIP of 1.07. The question is, what's his contract like, and what would it take to pry him from the Mets?

Just wondering - what do you guys think of Braden Looper, the Mets current closer? I've never really seen him pitch, I was just throwing a name out there. Maybe Ooogie Urbina too?

Agreed, but I would rather have Garcia than Armas. Garcia pitches well vs. NY, and we need a pitcher of his caliber IMO. Finley would be nice too, but IIRC, didn't someone on these boards say that he has a no-trade clause? I guess it would be up to him, whether he'd want to end his career in Arizona, or come to a perenial (sp?) playoff team.

Hey - and then let's move Joe Crede to center field, put Willie Harris behind home plate, and have Mark Buerhle pitch every day! It could happen, right? Voice of reason my ass.

I feel bad now - I was booing him and stuff like that when he pitched poorly earlier in the year. If the injury played a part in it, I look back on it and think that he's been our best fifth starter this year. Get well soon Danny!

Does Borchard really need to be apart of this deal? I mean, for (at the time being) a rent-a-player like Freddy Garcia? I mean, Borchard seems like he is just now getting his stuff together. I'd really like to see him blossom, as a White Sox, into the player we all thought he could be.

When Kiprusoff (sp?) went out in OT and dove to play that puck that was about five feet in front of the crease, and the puck went by the post by mere inches, I didn't breathe for that couple of seconds. It was that damn close, lol.

This has been an awesome game. It's halfway through the first OT right now, 2-2. It's been just an awesome game up to this point. Tampa Bay's stadium looks like, was it the Winnepeg White Out? They're all wearing these white Tampa Bay Lightning shirts, it's crazy. What a game.

Which raises the question, is Garcia worth 10 Million a year, four years? Obviously, if he were to come here and dominate, we go to the playoffs, and the rest becomes a storybook ending, then we'd give it to him and more. But what if he comes here and just is alright? I mean, not dominating, but 2nd-3rd starter material. Mark Buerhle isn't making 10 million a year, and I consider him (right now) every bit as good a pitcher as Freddy Garcia. Then again, here's what I think would happen if he came here - Ozzie would totally get Freddy to be focused, he'd have his head on straight, and we'd have the ace that we've always wanted. Mark Buerhle becomes one of the best #2's in the league, and that tandem leads us to World Series Titles from now till 2010! (Should that have been in pink?)

Hey guys - Me and my brother are taking a trip out to Notre Dame this weekend, to check out three games (I'm pretty sure it's three). I had a couple of questions: First, anyone else heading out there? Let me know if you are. And second, I was wondering if some of you more knowledgable guys on the college ranks could tell me who I should be watching. I don't have a list in front of me, but I believe some of the teams are like Notre Dame and Kent State. The rest I don't know, but it would be cool if someone could give me a couple of people to keep my eye out on, so I could give you guys what I saw. Thanks, and if anyone else is heading out to ND, let me know. EDIT: Oh yeah, Arizona is going to be there too. When I first heard Arizona was going to be there, first thought I was like "Sweet, I get to see Brian Anderson!" And then I realized he's already at Winston Salem. Stupid me!

IMO it shouldn't take any of Reed/Borchard/Sweeney/Anderson/Honel to get Garcia. If they're interested in Rowand and Rauch, give them another position player (or two) and get this deal done.
