Hello?!?!?!??! HAve you read the rest of the thread? The Cans aren't working, none of them, for anyone. Sheesh, read a bit before you jump all over him. :fyou
-
I would literally cry if that happened. Us not resigning him after offering a pretty fair contract is one thing. The Cubs signing Mags is another thing that would make me one sad, angry person..
-
Yeah, Critic, Im not trying to cheat the sytem or anything like that. I had four Pepsi cans ready to go, all of which the UPC Code did not work. Like Chi said, we have all bought our share of Pepsi cans and products.

That's a pretty dang good offer, that's right where the years that he wanted, and around 11.3 million a year is good friggin' money. If he doesn't take that, then I guess he just doesn't want to be here... I'm sorry, he is a very very good ballplayer, and he'll be missed dearly if he leaves, but he's not Vlad Guerrero good...
-
Or you could just use "sox" for free. Actually, it seems it isn't a matter of whether UPC codes are Out of Date, they simply aren't working. For those planning to buy tickets online, put "sox" in the UPC Code part and it works. Just giving everyone the heads-up.
-
Just put in "sox" without the quotations, a guy at WSI said it works. I tried it and it worked for me.

Solid, but of course, there are a few disagreements: Olivo should be a B, if not an A. Last year, any breaking pitch in the dirt he would swing at. He's improved drastically in that area and really provides some pop at the ninth spot in the order. Gload should also have been a B, he's been what Brian Daubach was supposed to be last year. He's versataille, has somepower, isn't a defensive liability, can do the little things right. He's a 'grinder', gotta love that! Koch, a D? Come on man... High C, low B IMO. The rest are solid!

Odd thing about this years all-star game

Who can we honestly expect from the Sox to be there? Uribe? Shingo, possibly? Mags? Buerhle, or the Show? -
Yeah, that's something I don't get. They play the Angels for three now, but don't play them again until September, but meanwhile they play teams like the Jays and the Orioles and are done with them in a week? Probably because of interleague play, I suppose?
-
But see, what if Gload sucks in that spot? Then we're forced to make yet another trade. Lee is very, very expendable right now. There are other guys that can be placed into that LF spot, IMO, about four of them. Rowand, Perez, Reed, Borchard. Meanwhile, if Gload can't hit at first.... We're forced to make another trade. Not saying Konerko is worse/better than Lee, I think Lee is more valuable than Konerko is. That said, I honestly believe a package of Lee and ONE prospect, not even including the tops like Honel, Reed, Sweeney, Anderson, for Garcia can be had. We don't have all the time though. I want a fifth starter in here the next time we need him (A month or so)? I think someone earlier talked about the Angels. What ever happened to the talk about Jarod Washburn here? I don't have the stats - would he, statistically speaking, be effective here (Ground ball ratios, etc. etc.?).

Gammons calls the Sox one of the best teams

I know a lot of you guys could care less about what any outside source says about us. But it's nice to know someone, even if a lot of the people here, don't like him. Peter Gammons, while talking about the Cubs, talked about how they are going upon a tough stretch, in which they play three of the BEST teams in the American League, The Angels, the Athletics, and the WHITE SOX. Again, I know a lot of people don't care, but it's cool to be considered one of the best teams in the AL. We've for sure earned it, now let's keep that up and surprise everyone even more and take four of six on this homestand, two from the Rangers, two from the Halos. Just a nice little tid-bit I thought was cool. -
beck, not just you, but several people in this thread have stated the Sox can afford to 'wait it out' in getting a fifth starter? I mean, sure, we can keep plugging in guys who are young and perhaps aren't ready, like Cotts, Diaz, Rauch, etc, etc, but shouldn't the Sox be wanting to get a fifth starter ASAP? I'm not necessarily disagreeing with your logic, just, can you elaborate a bit more on that?
-
I really want to see Rauch again, he seems to be doing pretty well for himself down at AAA in a hitters park, he did pretty well IIRC against the Twins when he wasn't hurt, and he earned his chance with how well he performed during Spring Training. Why the hell not? It's not a terrible situation - if he doesn't perform well, than you can send him back down, if he performs well, then you have a fifth starter. That doesn't solve the problem of getting an ace in this rotation, but if Rauch can give us an ERA around 4.15, I think that will get the job done. Danny Wright won 14 games with a 5 ERA, a 4.15 ERA can probably win you 15 or so.
-
And if he comes up here and succeeds...? Then we have a solid starter. Wasn't Rauch rated the number one prospect by BA a few years back? Granted, injuries have come and gone, but he had to do something to earn that pretty high rank. I think Rauch deserves another chance to start...
-
Alright, that's understandable, especially considering what Borchard has been doing as of late. But would you trade Lee for Garcia straight up? IF that offer was on the table, not saying it is because I think we'd have to give up a bit more than Lee to get Freddy, but would you do Lee for Garcia?
-
I guess I was a little more angered by the fact that they showed highlights of the Indians/D-Rays ahead of our game, but I dont mind it that much. I don't really mind that much, though, if they don't want to show us early on that's fine with me. They didn't show the Marlins a lot last year early either. Tony, the reason I personally watch BBTN is to see John Kruk's analysis, he's pretty funny plus he's been there before, etc. etc. I like him. You got a problem with that?
-
I personally don't think it would take Cotts to get Kim. Even if Kim was just a reliever for us, that would be nice. He and Shingo could be some pretty tough righties out of the pen, tough to pick up their throwing motions, etc.
-
Well, he's right though - I mean, think about it. A five game series begins in the bronx. The Sox send Mark Buerhle to the hill vs. Javier Vazquez. OK, not bad, especially if Buerhle is pitching like he is now, plus lefties in the Stadium are always a plus. But from there, I mean I like Loaiza, but he'd go up against Kevin Brown/Mike Mussina. A guy like Kris Benson would be a stop-gap to get us some wins out of the five spot, some good starts. But what about the potential post-season? I'm glad Brando brought that up, actually.
-
I hear he and Ozzie are buds, maybe Ozzie could get him to perform a bit better as well as keep him in line. And even with Cheat's numbers, a 3.74 road ERA isn't brutal. In fact, if you stick him in the number three spot after Buerhle and Loaiza, we'd have a very good rotation. Which brings me to the question, where do you guys think our Top 4 starters, as of now, stand among the AL's Best? I think these teams have better top 4's than us - New York, Boston, Oakland, Anahiem. I think we're right in the five or six area in the AL as of now with our staff. Adding a quality two, three, or four starter might put us right even with Anahiem, IMO.
-
Why his he nicknamed LTP? Just wondering.... Very nice, Joe! Hopefully he can keep it up and earn a spot with us later in the season! Like my mom always says, Patience is a virtue! Hopefully patience is paying off with him!
-
I think I heard that Diaz (from Mr Wills) pitched seven innings, three run ball, four hits. And Mr Borchard had an 'alright' day, three homers, six knocked in. Good to see Diaz get back on track, as well as Joe-Bo. Why is Borchard nicknamed LTP, btw? Just wondering... EDIT: Ack, sorry, probably should have put this in the Future Sox forum, my bad. I didnt even look if there was already a thread about this there. My apologies, moderators... EDIT AGAIN: Sorry mods, you guys can delete this, I saw that there's already a thread in Future Sox. Again, I apologize.

Well, eventually, we are going to have to give up on someone in the outfield - we are going to have one hell of a logjam, which isn't a terrible thing. Ordonez-Lee-Borchard-Reed-Sweeney-Anderson. That's six right there, and hopefully Borchard can still be the player we all once thought that he would be. Fact is, we NEED a fifth starter. We cannot continue to piss away every fifth game, it's a damn joke. I'd like to see Rauch given another shot though, before we make a trade.
-
All I want is a guy who can go seven or eight innings and put up a sub four and a half ERA. Now, if we give up a lot to get a guy I'll want better than that, but we need someone who can get the job done.
