  1. Soxnbears, what happened to our MVP League? I was dominating, Beckett was unhittable. I say we just assume me and you are the best and have a seven game series.
  2. Perfect game or no hitter? 3 Outs away. If you're in Atlanta at that game and you're a Brave fan, are you cheering for Randy or your team, lol?
  3. Hawk and DJ talking about paintballing, lol. Hawk is like "I'd like to get your carcas out on the paintball field, so I could get you, splat-splat-splat!" And DJ was like "I'm so stealthy you would never even see me, I'd get you in the back of the head three times." It was pretty funny. This is when it's fun to listen to these two, when they're jovial and joking around.
  4. Why has Olivo double-clutched while throwing so many times this season? That should have been a DP easy...
  5. Neal - What do you think has been the number one key to your success so far in the relief role? To me, you seem to be a lot more confident in all of your pitches. What do you attribute your success to?
  6. I also would like to see Benson inserted into the fifth spot. I think he would come very cheaply, and he'd have a lot of upside IMO. He won't have a lot of pressure on him like there is in Pitt to be a number two guy, he'd just be able to relax and pitch. His ERA isn't the greatest, but neither is Loaiza's this year. I think he could come here and do very well.
  7. Reallistically, Brando, who would you like? Honestly? I know you've said things about Randy Johnson and Roy Halladay, but in all likelihood, that won't happen. Who would you like, and what would you give up, to get a realistic fifth starter who can perform on the south side?
  8. I haven't done it all season, but I'm actually going to turn off the game. I'm getting pretty pissed with the inconsistency in the offense, honestly.
  9. Well, something NEEDS to be done. I like, no, I LOVED how Kenny went out and got us a bunch of guys at around the time of the trade deadline. However, if you can make a move to improve this team now, do it. Kenny, my wishlist is this - A lefty bat and another starter. Maybe a righty in the bullpen as well. Possible targets - Benson, Garcia, Winn (Lefty Bat). There's more, I'm just pretty tired right now. But I think we're all on the same page when I say - something needs to be done, and like Show said, every time our fifth starter takes the hill it cannot just be an automatic loss. That pisses the hell out of me.
  10. Bensons stats this season - 7 GS, 4.64 ERA, 42.2 IP, 48 Hits, 22 BBs, 29 Ks. Not the best line in the world but he also doesn't face the easiest offenses in the NL Central (Cards, Astros, I'll even say the Cubs). And, he won't be relied upon as a number one or a number two. He'd have basically no pressure. About six innings per start, I'd take that in a heartbeat. Now, Pittsburg, what do you guys want for him?
  11. And Jim, I glad you posted what Gammons said. Kris Benson would be a fine fifth starter IMO, and I think he could come relatively cheap. He carries a hefty contract. And I also agree with you, I like Diaz but if you have a pretty sure thing, and, another option that will most likely be better, then pull the trigger. Sorry if this sounds like a pipedream, but: Could Jason Kendall, possibly, in any way, play first base? He consistently gets on base at a pretty good rate (Average OBP over career at 385 IIRC). He would give us a lefty bat (much needed) in the lineup, and while he doesn't hit for power, he could be put almost anywhere in the lineup. So, here's what I'm proposing (sorry If I've lost some of you, this is a pretty crazy proposal.) Borchard-Konerko-Rauch-Mid - level guy, Munoz, perhaps? for Benson-Kendall Is that giving up too much for guys that they would basically be dumping because of their contracts? I guess it's all based on whether Kendall would be versataille enough to play first.
  12. Well, dan, it pisses me off a lot. People like Brando, I can handle, because he can back his arguments up with facts, and reasoning. But others (poccer, fan79, Rector) I just cannot stand. "Blah Blah Blah, Felix Diaz sucks! I told you guys he was going to suck and that we needed to trade Joe Borchard and a bag of crap for Roy Halladay!" GAHHHH!! It just sickens me. Ignore the fact of how hot this offense has been, ignore the fact that it's his second career start at the age of 23, ignore the fact that he's pitching on three days rest, ignore the fact he warmed up and then had to sit on his ass for an hour and a half for a rain delay, ignore everything, he just plains SUCKS! Blah, I'm sorry for taking up the bandwidth. Rant over.
  13. poccer, you haven't had one, NOT FRIGGIN ONE, positive thing to add to this board. No, Diaz doesn't suck. In fact, he at least throws strikes, and your comparing him to Wright is stupid and makes you look pretty stupid. This team did the same thing to Pedro Martinez, and other pretty solid Boston pitchers, yet do they suck? My gosh - if everyone was judged on their first two starts.... Damn...
  14. Agreed - add to that the fact he's facing a very, very hot offense in only his second start, plus the rain delay. I'm not trying to make excuses - if he sucks, he sucks. But, all things considered, I want to see him pitch on a day where he has proper (more than three days) rest, no rain delays or anything like that.
  15. Friggin Diaz - he settles down nicely, but too much damage done. When he gets killed it's because he leaves pitches right over the meat of the plate. If only he could have put it together for one of his past two starts. Damn. Kenny has a huge decision to make, start Diaz against the Twins, start Rauch, start another guy from AAA or AA, or pull the trigger on a deal for another starter. I'd like the fourth option but then again, I dunno...
  16. He's nothing like Adkins, Jon is a hard thrower who blows it by guys, Diaz is more location and movement. No similarities at ALL.
  17. Well, whoever the fifth starter is, we are going to need a start from that person against the Twins. Jon Rauch dominated the Twinkies, give him a chance? If not, Kenny is going to have to pull the trigger quickly.
  18. Wow, Im surprised at all the people already giving up on this game. We have six innings left and we already lost? Come on guys... :headshake
  19. So, guys, reallistically, what would you give up for Freddy Garcia? Keep in mind that Jeremy Reed might not be ready for the bigs just yet (if Lee were to be traded), thus leaving, IMO, a pretty big hole in our lineup. ?
  20. That's fine - I'm hoping for a Twinkie loss as well. Error Mags - Diaz just can't buy a break tonight...
  21. I like the ump, he has a solid strike zone and isn't budging on extending the corners. Solid!
  22. Yeah, what's this with making game threads a day before the game starts? Come on guys, think, THINK! Beastly - :fyou
  23. Gotta make them pay there, and we fail. Pitchers cannot be able to walk two with two outs and just get out of the inning like that. I think Honel could be very good, though. Wsoxshuf, as for you, I bet you also conceded the Indians game in which we were down 8-2. How about the D-Rays game, did you concede that game too? :fyou
