(God that was a fun game to be at, especially with my dad who unfortunately is a Cubs fan...oh he was gloatin so much when Sammy hit that homer to tie the game...but I got the final laugh!

Yeah, I have no problem with Colon's weight, some people are just meant to be bigger than others...fortunately for us our big guy can win 20 games at 260 pounds! More power to him!

I am not happy with the blurring of league distinctions, which is happening, but this preserves a baseball tradition that has worked since the 1900s and when has it ever been a problem? You're absolutely right bout that, I'd much rather keep the alternating format, over the ASG proposal....it's the lesser of the two evils. Here's an interesting idea: ok, you have the three division champs and one wild card, seeded 1-4 (Wild card is always 4, even with a better record than a 1,2,or3) HFA can be decided by seeding. #1 will have the HFA over 2-4 #2 over 3-4 #3 over 4 In case of last year's situation, two wild cards in the series, tiebreakers could include better reg season records, division records, or even interleague records. I'm sure that this probably won't fly, but anything is better than an exhibition game deciding Game 7 of the WS.

I just came up with a scary thought (this is all hypothetical, remember, not an official declaration): Sox are hot going into the ASG, Cubs are drowning in last place (ok, that's not the scary thought) But say Sammy SoSo hits a game winning homer to help the NL get WS HFA... And IF, by the grace of GOd, we get to the Series and (GOd forbid) lose Game 7, I'm sure that Bud would be getting a very very nasty letter from me! Ok, i'd better shut my mouth before I either jinx the Sox or get blasted for this crazy optimism!

HSC, if you didn't get a chance to read my earlier peace offering, I just want to put it out there that I have no animosity towards you, we just have a difference of opinion and that's the way it goes sometimes! Hopefully in October, we'll have our Sox to watch and i know we both agree that'd be good no matter what!

Cub, I can't agree with you more. HSC should go watch a hockey or football game, games with actual CLOCKS...thankfully baseball has no time limit, so Colon or any pitcher for that matter, can take as long as they damn well please (ok, that's some hyperbole, but it ain't like a 24 second shot clock). Plus, any player that touches KW's hands is automatically open for criticism, cuz of her vendetta against Kenny. I'll be honest, i'm a KW supporter, but I'll criticize him when it's warranted. This time he should be applauded. If Kenny's grandmother jaywalked in the street, she'd probably turn her in. lol

IMO, I think that Mark should be a professional and let the veteran Colon start out as #1. Gives the rotation a righty-lefty-righty 123 punch, with Garland at #3. P.S. Something that I was annoyed to see was HSC calling Colon a "tub of goo". Yes, I'm aware that the man is bigger, in terms of weight, than most typical pitchers, but how many pitchers are out there with a career 85-49 record? As Homer would say.....Mmmmmmm...Colon..... Wow, whho would have thought that the Yankees are the team that has to dump payroll for almost nothing in return! This is the closest we'll probably ever see them to having a firesale in a long time, but it's good to see that George is being pinched.

Trust me, something tells me that the Sox getting Colon would get headlines in both papers...it'd be the biggest story in chicago right now. And if the Trib's coverage is bothering you, buy the Suntimes...it's cheaper

Hey, that was a great game wasn't it? Me and my brother were down on the third base line watching the greatest comeback in Sox history. When Konerko hit that second home run, i must have run up and down those concrete steps 3 times! Never gonna forget it. And to add to all the Colon-mania, I'm gettin a little feelin something's happening in a few days...this hype is causing us all to act like sharks sensing blood in the water...

I agree with Zach's proposal for deciding home-field advantage in the World Series. Both the NHL and NBA rewards the team with the league's best record with home court/ice in the championship. The alternating system we have here is a crapshoot. Go back to the 2000 WS when the Yankees had the worst record of all playoff teams yet were rewarded home-field since it was the AL's turn. Maybe the Mets win another game with one fewer game with the DH. In case of ties, Division records should be the first tiebreaker, then interleague.

I'm interested to know if Billy Koch is obligated to come to Soxfest, I definitely am looking to get his autograph.

the real question is who would you see traded to mont for colon. i mean in the sp sense. then who would you see go from the minors. Thankfully I'm not the GM so I don't have to make these deals and get roasted by Loyal fans such as yourself But seriously, for Colon I think there are two deals possible. If we were sure to sign colon to a 3 year deal after the trade, give em Wright, Harris, and Malone. If the Sox don't want to sign him long term, maybe the sox will take back malone, but the Expos add Tatis' contract...it would relieve Montreal of paroll and the sox would only have to take a one year payroll hike for a shot this year.
