Discussion - Which of our former 1B prospects will turn out better
Carter has the most potential, but Allen is the safer bet to develop/make it. I still don't think Carter makes it, but his upside is really special.

Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers
QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 09:43 AM) I already believe rios was pulled back. But, that's my thought. I know it's your thought, but your are a pretty reliable source for a while on soxtalk so that'll be sad.. though Ricciardi is/would be an idiot if that happens.

Our DH for next year?
QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 10:25 PM) I have never seen Quentin in RF. He's barely marginal in left. Can't see him on RF next year. No matter what old reports say about Quentin and him being a better RF from like 3-4 years ago, sox brass don't see him as a RF at all. Remember they trotted Podsednik out there for a few games earlier in the year when Quentin was healthy. BTW, IMO, I still think a 38+ year old Thome is better than Dye right now because he can take a walk, still has power and will still put up the OBP/OPS so gimme Thome and lets see him get 600 here. Though I'm not as big of a Dye fan also so that's partly why. (sorry Kalapse)

QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 08:02 PM) Sox must have signed 44th rounder Taylor Thompson, RP from Auburn, he started for Bristol tonight They did. BTW.. Jared Mitchell... can take a walk. His OBP will be insane when he figures out all his tools.

Phegley is about one good week or so away from bringing his average back up to respectable. I still think he will bounce back.

i am drunk in 2009
QUOTE (The Baconator @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 12:58 AM) With respect to quality, I meant in terms of epicness. If most of Soxtalk knows him for his ridic posts, he must be doing SOMETHING right. It may not be a quality day posting but it's worth a read and a laugh when i'm drunk. And I'm for it. No I mean you have no clue and this is comming from someone who loves Steve Harnden like a brother from another mother, happy and were singing and were "half" colored. But no there are much better/classic drunk posters here. And Steve knows I can outdrink his ass out of the table. BobDylan/Mike will know eventually. QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jul 18, 2009 -> 03:13 AM) I am seeing triples, but still typing like a champ. Ace, I will drink you under the motherf***ing table!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We'll see my friend.

Pods
QUOTE (rockren @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 12:55 AM) I agree people are high on something if they act as if Pods is the answer beyond this year, but I do agree with the fact Pods may not be a bad option to hold down our leadoff spot/CF for the short term with what we have waiting in the minors. If Jordan Danks was hitting well in AA, or say hit well enough to get promoted to AAA (ala Gartrell/Flowers) than yes, I would agree, but he's still striking out alot, and he's been in a slump. Either he has to pick it up this year to finish strong, or he might need an extra year beyond 2010 to make it/still view him highly.

Pods
One fluke season from Pods and people are wetting their tampons? Jesus. Where's my boy hammerhead johnson.

i am drunk in 2009
QUOTE (The Baconator @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 12:22 AM) Streve, while I have minimal time posting, I have been reading Soxtalk for 2 years, and I have learned that you are an expert drunk poster. Having said that, I have no idea what that means, but I would love to learn your ways You must not be reading too well then. He's not even close.

Hudson, Gartrell promoted to Charlotte...
Congrats to both Hudson and Gartrell. Both are well deserved. A mod should change the title.

Pods
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 11:37 PM) So am I. If it were up to the other half, most of the 2005 team would still be here, and this would be a 75 win club. Counting on Pods for anything next season would be a mistake. His career has been a huge roller coaster, and if Williams plans on fielding a championship contendor next season, trusting Pods to anchor the lead off spot for the entire 2010 seaon is not a bet I would want to make. When Chone gets brought up, critics seem to jump on his age, and given his presumable contract demands, you will have to lock him up until he is 34-35 years old. I agree that would be a bad investment. With that said, Podsednik will enter the season as 34 year old below average OF with a history of having nagging lower body injuries. Again, not someone I want my team to count on in getting the most AB's over the course of a season. Preach. 100% agreed.

White Sox Winner
QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 11:15 PM) Beckham doubled in this game, fyi I know...... QUOTE (kev211 @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 11:20 PM) Not because of the double, but because of the fear he struck in the angels the minute they stepped into the ball park. Count it.

Pods
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 11:18 PM) If we're getting the .300 AVG/.400 OBP Figgins, then yes, I'd want him. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Pods
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 11:15 PM) You would? So if you could have Podsednik for 1 year and $4 million or Figgins and 3/$27 or 4/$36, would you still go with Figgins? I meant as far as the player. Obviously if $$ is in the equation it'll be different though I still would consider Figgins, as I think Pods is just having a crazy, fluke year personally.

Hudson, Gartrell promoted to Charlotte...
Huddy!!! Ouch on Omogrosso. Had to wonder why he was struggling that bad in AAA. It'll be interesting to see how he does. He's been downright awesome this year. Futuresox.. get on this.
