2016-17 NHL Thread
Quenneville has made some questionable decisions in the past, but pairing Oduya with Seabrook might be one of his worst. Those two didn't work together 2-3 years ago and that was when both guys were younger (and in Oduya's case, faster). Why does he think it's going to work now? And I can't believe Panik and Schmaltz didn't sniff the ice in OT, and both guys were our best forwards in the game.

Been a while since the Blackhawks got an ass kicking like that one. (Regardless of terrible officiating). Hjalmarsson had his worst game of his NHL career last night.

Updated teams interested in Q
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 11:02 AM) Actually 2nd base has become more and more of a power hitting position as of late. A league average second baseman hit 18 home runs last year I meant traditionally. The Royals won the World Series just 2 years ago with Infante hitting 2 of them the whole season.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 10:34 AM) You are really underrating how good Ozzie Albies can be MLB.com scouting grades on him = Scouting grades: Hit: 65 | Power: 30 | Run: 70 | Arm: 55 | Field: 65 | Overall: 60 He might never hit for much power, but is a great leader, plus hitter, plus runner and a great fielder Imagine a lineup that had Anderson, Moncada and Albies in it? Young, athletic and dangerous speed. Each of those guys is a threat to steal if they get on base Not to mention 2B isn't a premier power hitting position anyways. If they do get him hypothetically, he or Moncada would have to move to the OF. Depends what the sox value more. Defense or all star appearances.

Lopez/Giolito/Kopech/Moncada/Fulmer sent down
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 03:35 PM) Charlotte is going to be a really fun team to watch this year, at least for the first half. Could/Should be a (first half) playoff team with that pitching.

Tim Anderson signs 6 year extension
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 08:41 AM) I'm sure the Sox would love to approach Rodon about an extension, although I'm not sure if Boras would allow for it Now that'll be a feat any of us would be impressed by if Hahn somehow by the grace of God pulled that off.

White Sox News FA / Rumors / News
QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 01:38 AM) Looks like he took it down, but he posted a screen shot of her page and he was blocked, then another tweet with the broken heart emoji. I guess he deleted them, so welcome to being a 20 year old I guess... For a kid like him, you gotta hope he doesn't have any off the field distractions hurting his performance/development. And this isn't the usual ballplayer dating his high school/college sweetheart here.

QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 20, 2017 -> 11:06 PM) Looks like Kopech broke up with the GF. I also feel so weird posting that considering these are like 21 year old kids, but he posted it on Twitter. Where are you seeing that?

2017 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 20, 2017 -> 02:32 PM) Truth being told, bringing Danks back wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Let him suck up innings and teach some of these kids how to act like a big leaguer. I know his career took a big downward turn after the shoulder surgery, but he was the consummate professional. He took his turn every five days, he took ownership of his body of work, he didn't try to blame someone else for his downfall, and he never caused any problems while he was here. Quintana would have to be dealt to even entertain this scenario.

White Sox Scout Yankees for Potential Q Trade
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 20, 2017 -> 03:11 PM) A near .800 OPS in high A from a 19 year old SS prospect is pedestrian?? I agree he's probably a bit overrated due to his AFL stint, but let's not sell his A ball numbers short. The kid is an incredible prospect and worthy of top 10/20 status. The guy absolutely figured it out in the AFL. He was pretty highly thought of already before the stint. The Cubs scout I'm familiar with who saw him down there said "thank god we won the world series" cause he was not happy Theo let him go. People are forgetting his glove too. Kid is legit.

Tim Anderson signs 6 year extension
QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Mar 20, 2017 -> 05:04 PM) And there is a 0% chance the Sox could have acquired Lopez, Giolitto, and Dane Dunning for Eaton if he wasn't signed to such a team friendly contract. Yep. And let's just say shot in the dark sox get a young SS they like (Gleyber Torres for example) and view him as the SS of the future cause of better upside. Sox can deal Tim if they feel they can get an Eaton type deal in the future or if they're weak at a premium position of need to make a playoff run. It's a win-win. Tim has a baby girl now too. I'm sure he wants to have his family set right now.

Hawk reducing games in 2017 - offers to step away from PBP after 2017
QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 17, 2017 -> 07:49 AM) Remember the question was "will the Sox lose 100 games in 2018." If those three can't do that, the Sox have no hope beyond 2018 either. It wasn't a question, but we're on the same page regardless.

Hawk reducing games in 2017 - offers to step away from PBP after 2017
QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 08:36 PM) If they lose 100 games in 2018 they will have have 2 awful trades with Sale and Eaton. You actually think guys like Basabe, Diaz will be ready by that point? Hell, even Kopech might be a stretch. (although I can see him midseason possibly. He'd have to really go off this year to start bt 2018 and the sox have already said they're not rushing guys)

Would love the Braves to swoop in and get him. To me, they have the best farm system in the MLB and they preach fundamentals top to bottom. First class org.
