  1. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 07:37 PM) Dude is a physical specimen. He will assuredly grow out of CF. Absolutely a future RF. Extremely, extremely raw, so people here are gonna have to be patient and can't stress this enough.. is only 18. Sox are definitely going pitcher with their next pick.
  2. Props to our inside guys docsox and bucket of suck as well. Can't believe we have the balls to draft a H.S.
  3. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 07:24 PM) I wouldn't be upset either. Some will be though. He's pretty raw. Swing and miss to his game, not the best approach. But man, if he puts it together... Only thing I don't like is the sox have taken guys like that for a couple years now (other than Sale). Thought they would go back to pitching in the early rounds.
  4. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 07:21 PM) Hawkins is the man Wouldn't be upset by the pick. Great upside.
  5. Man Giolito is gonna be awfully hard to pass up if he's still there. Injury concerns aside, his potential is off the charts. Love Stroman too.
  6. Wow.. Addison Russell for the A's.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 10:40 AM) Beckham's had so many clutch hits over the last month or so, and people forget just how terrible the 2nd spot was producing before he got going. I can think off the top of my head about 5 games where Beckham had the game winning RBI. He's been phenomenal in tied game situations. Third highest stats on the team after Konerko and Rios in fact.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 10:12 AM) Josh Hamilton? Yea he's scary good I didn't realize his OPS was that insane already. (although not as clutch in late/close games as Konerko) but considering everyone thought we would suck, and without looking at Josh's numbers (a critical mistake on my part, although he's been awful in CF so far and before anyone points it out, I'm well aware writers don't look at that) I'll rephrase and say top 3 candidate. Still well deserving of an A+ for this team though, which was my original point. If you were expecting those kind of numbers from a 36 year old, then hey.. props to you.
  9. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 10:05 AM) The first post specifically mentions De Aza's 2011 stats as part of its argument about him. Then I apologize to caulfield since I saw the thread title and Mike's first paragraph discussing this season and expectations. Also read his post wrong about De Aza as he was actually agreeing with me about the grade. I doubt anyone thought Konerko would be doing this.. at his age. I remember much more optimism, including myself, with De Aza before the season, obviously not his .329/.400/.520/.920 from his callup, but certainly better than what Pierre gave us. The top 3 candidate for AL MVP (if the season ended today) not getting an A+ is criminal (and ya I'm arguing about the "+" so sue me).
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 09:49 AM) DeAza was actually better statistically last year (especially OPS/power), but he's been more consistent this year and has supplied a number of "clutch" hits. On the other hand, his defense was very shaky during that 3-11 stretch that knocked us back. Not an A+, but an A-/A. What does last year have to do with this year and this thread which was discussing this year? Not counting June yet since Konerko and De Aza have only had 9 and 11 PA respectively, but one was hitting .383/.444/.679/1.123 and .379/.464/.611 1.074 from March-May and the other .247/.323/.471/.794 and .313/.394/.384/.778 from March-May. Don't even bring up the clutch stats between the two. (and De Aza has been good but yea.. not comparable) Now, if you want to bring up defensive measures into this, fine (although Konerko is having a great year, UZR wise) but yea other than Cy Sale, I personally give an A+ to the ones who have been outstanding/incredible/scary good (De Aza is an A.. no doubt) but hey.. I guess you can say I have a strict grade policy. Oh, and I find it more incredible he's doing this at age 36. Seriously WTF Pauly?
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 09:42 AM) Paulie - A (NEVER FORGET!) How in God's name is that man not an A+ considering you have De Aza and Sale as A+'s? Hell, he would probably be the AL MVP if the season ended today. His clutch stats are amazing... I'll post it again... AMAZING.
  12. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 09:34 AM) K's are better than GIDP aren't they? Bingo.
  13. Man I hope this kid's arm holds up for years. Such a stud already. Even the announcers for other teams don't wanna see Sale in a series. Respect.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 11:36 PM) Except none of them are left-handed. Correct, although I personally like Santiago to eventually fill that role.
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 10:52 PM) I hate Rondo, but respect the hell out of him. He's amazing.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 07:04 AM) Fixed that for ya Looks much better to me.
  17. I don't care who they bring in.. this guy at 42 was still a top 10 defense-men in this league which is absurd. Nicklas Lidstrom to announce retirement. Hell of a career for one of the greatest d-man to ever play. Detroit is gonna be a major player in FA. (20 million in cap space now)
  18. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ May 29, 2012 -> 08:33 PM) Wow Oduya for that money?? WTF are they thinking? Someone here was on Bowman's nuts as a GM. Can't remember... (Rock?) I still think he is terrible. Only time will tell on his drafting and what leaks out who was responsible for who. (I.E. Shaw being a Bergevin pick/plea etc.) Unless he really makes noise July 1st, he and McDouche (who hired an accountant to make hockey decisions) are gonna get alot of criticism.
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 29, 2012 -> 11:14 PM) The negativity will come back when we go through a rough patch. This team is legit talented though and in a very bad division. Stay healthy and I really think this is a playoff team. What I like most is this team is fun to watch again. Funny how that happens when you insert youth into a ball club.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 27, 2012 -> 10:45 PM) Do they ever open their dome? Heh..
  21. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 27, 2012 -> 10:14 PM) Talked to Cyle on Twitter, going to Kanny. Weird, since he's played over 300 games at AA and is 27. Not to mention it's not like Kanny is on the cusp of first place this first half. (14.5 games back) W-S is fine in the OF and in the standings (although I thought they would promote Shoemaker and put Cyle in his place or even in AA like you said since the Barons are weak in the OF) but no. Very odd.
