  1. God dammit the game is on?!?! s***!
  2. God I hope he actually stays retired this time. Not only does this help the Bears, but it also helps myself to not hear that guys name again.... until he is inducted to the HOF.

    QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 03:45 AM) I like Wilkins a lot but I would like to see him at Low-A. His numbers in rookie ball, while very impressive, don't mean a lot because he really should be blowing that level of competition away. Agreed. I've actually been paying more attention to Saladino in Kanny. Hell, he is actually younger than Wilkins as well.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 01:23 AM) If you haven't noticed, AJ doesn't exactly have many fans around here right now other than Greg. Everyone's been pulling for Castro to get as many PAs as possible. So don't think AJ's ineptitude has gone unnoticed. But at least AJ serves a purpose defensively! Kotsay serves basically no purpose, other than to cheer up Gordo when he's feeling bad about only getting laid twice the day before. AJ doesn't get as much hate because he has been rock solid defensively and calls a great game for our pitching staff. I'm sure others here would actually like to have him hit and not have, which will probably be, the worst offensive year of his career (unless he really goes Joe Mauer on us from here on out) not to mention having a very low BABIP, but A.J. is not a big problem (+0.5 WAR) at all even with all that and he serves a purpose. I cannot say the same thing about Mark Kotsay other than playing a good 1B every once in a while when Konerko is off. Ozzie talks about flexibility from him... then why hasn't he been in the OF that much, and when he is, why is he so terrible? If you are going to be terrible on the field, at least be good with the bat (and vice-versa) and if Ozzie wants flexibility, a guy only playing one position is not his guy when you have guys like Jones, Lillibridge and Teahen who will and have played multiple. (though brutal defensively, at least gives you a solid bat and has to play cause of salary) Hell even Dayan can play 1B/3B. QUOTE (Ranger @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 12:16 AM) I don't have the numbers on this, but I would guarantee that he's not the worst violator on the team as far as stranding runners. I'd venture to say that AJ, at least, is as bad as it gets. A.J. BRSP% (baserunner scoring percentage) 14% PA less than 2 out baserunners scored: 42% PA runner on second and runner advances: 55% GIDP rate and into: 18% 10 (333 PA) 2 outs and RISP: .344/.447/.563/1.010 Late and close: .188/.220/.333/.553 Overall RISP: .260/.321/.384/.705 Kotsay BRSP% (baserunner scoring percentage) 10% PA less than 2 out baserunners scored: 46% PA runner on second and runner advances: 52% GIDP rate and into: 16% 8 (253 PA) 2 outs and RISP: .160/.222/.360/.582 Late and close: .133/.278/.167/.444 Overall RISP: .148/.281/.315/.596
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 12:06 AM) We have a 1 game lead in the standings. Having him on this roster is risking him costing us a game every single night we play. And that is one too many unnecessary risks. C'mon Mark... If you don't think that -0.9 WAR is helping us, then you are kidding yourself. Chemistry!
  6. I wonder if someone is gonna pull up Kotsay's stats hitting with RISP which would make Juan Pierre blush. I will be grabbing the popcorn in either case. Rangers post reminds me of my own talking to Greg a couple days ago about something alittle bit similar... http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...30&start=30
  7. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 10:29 PM) No one sees a person & says "Damn, she looks like she'd be interesting as hell to talk to!" Speak for yourself. If I see a chick and she looks and has the style of Lady Gaga, I would want to know what in the hell possessed her to look like that.
  8. QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 06:47 PM) I won't be "coming back" in a few years ...I will still be here in a few years and you guys will see! We'll see... Just in case Chase gets traded or something in the future, I'm bringing back this quote from ya..

    Teahen with a 3:0 BB/SO ratio. It's up to the sox when they feel he's good to go. Bellamy still adjusting to AA. Blanke with a .942 OPS now in GF. Crawford Simmons was amazing tonight. Problem is.. he is in the KC affiliate and he dominated our Bristol affiliate.
  10. Happy BDay SoxFest. And Happy B-Day to one of my bros, my guy, and one of the craziest S.O.B. on soxtalk, but a hellova poster J4L. :cheers Guys.
  11. I wonder if this could be another situation as last year. Young unproven goalie (Crawford which Niemi did) takes over mid-season for struggling veteran (Turco, what Huet did) and helps lead us all the way all over again. I've read Turco with his puck movement ability (the best goalie in the NHL at that) is almost gonna be teams impossible to fore check on Hawks defenseman and will help stretch long passes to the very fast Hawks forwards (Stalberg, Skille, Kane, Sharp, etc..) on odd man rushes.
  12. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 10:49 PM) TPain? Why on earth would it be Pena?
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 10:40 PM) Great. Now I can sleep tonight.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 10:10 PM) They re-air it like 25 times a week, trust me... Excellent. I'll have to look on the guide everyday to see what time then. Kudos Mark. I dislike you slightly less now.
  15. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 09:57 PM) It appears the Hawks have decided to walk away from Niemi... they just "reportedly" signed Marty Turco for 1.75 million per WGN TV Dan Roan Now they are saying the report is false.. We'll see tomorrow I guess.

    QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:55 PM) Why isn't there one of these? Please sticky this, mods. There was a huge thread for this months ago, but after it got so popular and some posters got tired of it cause thats when a good majority of the board was working out to get back in shape, and they happen to click on a food thread to post healthy stuff when they realize it was actually junk or very tasty food making them crave it and then hated the thread. (then I believe there was a healthy food thread... which wasn't nearly as popular of course )
  17. God dammit I keep missing this. I caught the first episode and have missed the last two cause I keep forgetting it's on Sundays which is such a pathetic day to have it on, but whatever.

    QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 09:40 PM) Looks like Holmberg's first game with Missoula will be against his former teammates. That is going to be very interesting.
  19. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 04:27 PM) Good. I hope Edwin plays with a chip on his shoulder now trying to prove to Kenny that it is a GOOD thing that they couldn't work out a deal to trade away EJax. He's had a "chip on his shoulder" for the past 4+ years now. But hey, maybe the 5th team in 4 years is the lucky charm for him... (and some Don Cooper)
  20. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 05:18 PM) torres will start a game on tuesday and then expect to see your new first round pick shortly after!! Very nice. Good to get a good look at Sale.
  21. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) AL vs. NL. Hitters park vs. Pitchers park. Let's all relax a bit before putting Hudson in the Hall of Fame. Ya it's only one start. I remember seeing the same things with John Ely when he had his hot start, who I was never a fan of cause of limited upside (though I hate Juan Pierre also so I didn't mind people hating on the trade), but I will root for him cause he is a sox fan. With that said though, I was one of Huddy's biggest fans since he was drafted out of Old Dominion. Didn't like the trade, but am willing to see what EJax can do with us. I will be rooting for Huddy for sure.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 02:25 PM) Word. Take notes mortals. JoeCoolMan24 Fixed.
  23. Well how bout that. Bobby uses two pitches (fastball and curve though he threw one cutter as a show me) and gets a 1-2-3 inning. Its not rocket science.

    QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:53 AM) Does anyone else order way too much food when they have been drinking? I went through whataburger and order like $12 worth of s*** and I ate half of it and realized there was no way I could eat the rest of this stuff.. I was much worse when I was a huge stoner in high school, but I'm the same way regardless. Just a couple of weeks ago when I was hammered at the bar, me and my buddies went over to white castle and got not 1.. but 2 crave cases (I'm sure the people who worked that nights HATED us). Only problem was... there was only three of us in the car. We were so convinced those little burgers would do s*** to us and the money we pitched in would be more than worth it... whoops. Funny thing is I remembered the next day (hung over) doing the same thing about a year ago, when me and my buddies came back from a party over to a friend's house, and we could barely finish one crave case and it was 6 of us at that time.
  25. QUOTE (BearingPro @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 10:48 PM) Very cool idea starting this thread...some notable transactions have occured during this period. Of course we all know about Alex Rios. Hopefully the guy we "might" get won't be as bad as Rios was that year he was claimed in contention.
