QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 02:48 PM) PG - Rose/Livingston SG - Redick/Brewer SF - Deng/Korver/Johnson PF - Boozer/Gibson C - Noah/Asik The Bulls are obviously going all out to build around Rose and it shows. They couldn't get him a Batman for him to play Robin, so they are gonna try and make him the Batman in the foreseeable future.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) Kobe's going to go downhill fast from here, IMO. We already saw some of it last year. He was able to put the injury out of his mind somewhat in the playoffs but it was already hurting him. Kobe had a worse PER than David Lee last year. Howard's weaknesses offensively are as well documented as Bosh's weaknesses defensively. Howard was 5th in the league in PER last year, Howard was 4th. I'd give you that one as a tie, but I will note that Howard was in that case where he has a much, much better roster to cover for his weaknesses. Durant is the one guy I think you're right about and I legitimately put him ahead of Bosh. FYI, PER isn't the end it all, know it all stat when it comes to basketball efficiency. That is like saying +/- is the end it all know it all stat for hockey in efficiency or even UZR in evaluating baseball defense. It is a good indicator, but like UZR and the +/-, it has it's flaws and should not be the main source in evaluating a player when said player plays in a different system (run and gun, up tempo, triangle, etc..) different bench rotations, etc. Some things you have to look at with your eyes and your head (plus other evaluations like a player's worth) to really get a different grasp of a player. I would think anyone with a brain would never put David Lee ahead of Kobe Bryant PER or age be damned. With that being said though, Kobe will probably never be the same with that finger in overall efficiency. BTW, I also rate Chris Paul very highly on my personal list of best players in the game. People really forget how good he is/was before the injury last season.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 12:22 PM) Doesn't Law also hate the Cardinals, and don't they run a similar philosophy? Ya I remember him not being too found of the Cardinals either. But hey.. LaRussa has White Sox ties. I guess he hates seeing teams who have won a world series (and another appearance from St. Louis) with that strategy.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 01:10 PM) Looks like Okur might be trade bait then. He has to prove he is completely healthy then. He did have a torn Achilles tendon last season in the playoffs (which really sucks for basketball players) and I'm not sure if he'll be ready for the Jazz opening game hence the Jefferson move at the moment.

Whoa.... RIP to the Boss.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 04:48 PM) Rienzo has some nice K/BB numbers, but man is he inconsistent. Him and Cameron Bayne should both go to a consistency class together. Brandon Short with his 13th homer.
-
Most out of towners love Steve Stone. But even he can't help those other fans "like" Hawk. Luckily white sox fans have one of the best broadcasters ever. People may hate Hawk's homerism, but they still say his "Hawkisms" to a tee for their team(s) they root for. I've heard plenty of it myself from Cubs fans.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 02:27 PM) Rogers being more realistic about next move and Kyle Beach already kicking ass and taking names, albeit one of his new teammates. oh, and beach knocked this olimb guy out for 4 months. They fought twice over weekend and beach kind of jumped him 2nd time. Shoulder I think. Foreign media actually reported it Man what a head case. I know prospects are trying to prove something, but the guy not only was like 5'9 160, but he's a part of your organization and maybe a future teammate! They better be offering their first rounders and other picks next year to include with Campbell and he still has to agree to a deal. Thing is, if they could have moved him prior, why didn't they? Might have been able to keep Byfuglien/Versteeg. And yes, I know Soupy is a good player. As far as Niemi, hopefully he loses his arb case, especially because of the defense he played in. It could work however in salary, but they have to trade Reasoner and/or Kopecky and Sharp pretty much has to play center. (though I'm sure Q will have him at LW at times on certian shifts) Beach (1.171) - Toews (6.3) - Kane (6.3) Stalberg (.850) - Sharp (3.9) - Hossa (5.275) Brouwer (1.025) - Bolland (3.375) - Skille (.875-.900) Bickell (.675) - Dowell (.525) - Kopecky (1.2) UFA or Rookie (.500) Keith (5.538) - Seabrook (3.5) Campbell (7.143) - Hjalmarsson (3.5) Connelly (.875) - Lalonde (.773) or Hendry (.600-.650) Scott (.512) UFA goalie or Niemi (1.5-2.0) Toivonen (.550) 200-300k in cap room and thats assuming Beach makes it and Q offers to Skille, Hendry, Niemi, Lalonde making it, etc.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) It'd essentially cost them $14 mil to keep Redick, which is pretty nuts if you ask me. Wouldn't surprise me with the Magic owner. He might be a billionaire, but he's handed out alot of terrible contracts in his tenure (and made alot of dumb decisions). I think he would be an idiot to match Redick who would be a bench player on his team. (I thought 14 million, but now I'm hearing it will be more around 17 million) But then again, I thought Gortat was gone and he had me left scratching my head there too. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 03:34 PM) Yeah I know the luxury tax implications, but I was just explaining what the actual contract was. Rich Devos is getting really old and really wants to see a championship. So in that sense, it wouldn't surprise me if we matched it. You have to remember with the Magic moving into a brand new building, they'll be generating more revenue going forward as well. Thing is, how much can you be confident in? Teams like Miami, Chicago, Milwaukee, etc.. have seriously improved and you still have teams like the Lakers, Celtics, etc.. who will be the same (and are still better than Orlando) and up and commers like the Thunder, Philly etc.. on the rise.

I've long said she is very sexy and has a fantastic body (definite fantasy). Only issue is, she would not be my #1.. probably not even my top 10-15.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 10:24 PM) like i said before she wants to hang on my birthday, which is the all star break so no games are gonna be played, nothing would happen right.f***, i dont know if i should risk it Ya it's the break. I'm sure Konerko and Thornton might be terrible at the all-star game, but hey if you don't see her when we get back to business (we still gotta win 2 to have another 10 game win streak) it's all good. American league better win though.
-
Bat. I have the up most confidence in Hudson.

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 02:21 PM) I think the deal was discussed and Kenny walked away. No way KW was gonna meet their demands. I say target Berkman and get it done. Ya Buster Olney reported yesterday the Nats asked for Beckham. The sox said no.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 02:55 AM) I probably deserve to get a suspension of some kind, so I won't dispute it if I get one. No you don't.
-
Jones. If he doesn't play, Rios.
-
Was sick (and back pain) so I missed the game, but I'm glad we got the win and Kong is an all-star.
-
Nice outing for Collop. After his brutal April/May he's pitches much better.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) LeBron James and Dwyane Wade? (I don't care what they're getting paid, it's the amount of wins they add to your team.) I'd put Deron Williams on that list too. I've long said I'd trade Chris Paul straight up for Rose. I think after his injury last year, people forget just how good he is. And like I said, people should not just worked up over Redick. I like him, but the Magic will match the offer. Hopefully this means a guy like Pietrus is available.
-
Hmmm.. I wonder if they would trade Reasoner and Kopecky to help off-set the money Nik will make that the Hawks would probably match. (elder Bowman I remember raved about Nik) Tough decision in either case. Is next year's draft strong at all or is it weak? SJ is probably going to be a top 5-7 team in the West anyway even without Nabakov.

How does Orlando's cap look? Cause now I'm reading they would have some serious balls to match it since they would be really over. Their owner is a rich dude though. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 12:17 AM) Holy f***, Gerry, you're going to give me s*** in this thread yet you just called JJ Redick like the white Ray Allen "in Thibs' system". Put down the f***ing booze and end your life. Obviously Thibs is also putting an input into this off-season as well. Obviously Redick is no Allen, but he is a good shooter from the field, great from the line, and is a much better defender than given credit for (still not good, but I did watch the playoffs and saw enough of him to determine that) Allen isn't good either (never was till he got to Boston, and at least was "adequate" at it) if you didn't know. Pretty much have him run around screens/double screens from Rose on certain plays and I'm sure he will thrive in that system. I'll put faith in Thibs and Adams getting the kid to improve defensively (he already improved from where he was to now with SVG) and go from there. Same with Rose. I did mention though that I would rather see him on the bench as a first SG off of it (sign a defending wing) but Korver can not be your only sniper.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 12:06 AM) Oh, man, does this suck. I'd honestly rather have Kirk back and use our 1st on James Anderson dammit. NOOOOOOOO. But don't get too worked up. Orlando will probably match it, though I do like J.J. (not a lock down guy by any means, but his defense improved a TON since college and would love to see how Thibs does with him.. kind of like a white Ray Allen in his system running off screens and such when Rose kicks it out, similar to what Rondo did IMO)
-
Orlando is probably going to match the offer. I believe DBAH0 said they (Magic management) would match any offer for Redick unless it was a serious overpayment (though you can debate this is an overpayment.. ). If they do.. Bulls should look into getting Pietrus since Magic would be f***ed in cap space.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 11:40 PM) Korver and Redick on the same team? End my life. The great white hopes! Though I still think we get a defending 2 guard to start. If Redick is on the bench, that is fine with me unless Thibs and the Bulls management think he can continue to improve on defense to start. Bulls are not done. Still need a backup PG as well. I wonder if the Bulls would trade James Johnson, though I still think Orlando matches. Korver can't be the only sniper, so getting Redick really helps.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:15 PM) You really missed that one? Ugh, you have a lot to learn in the ways of sarcasm. I didn't know that was added to the sarcasm as Kal pretty much got the other guys "right." Usually the man is incredibly spot on with players even the hands they throw so perhaps. Give me a break, my head hasn't been completely there since my friend was nearly killed alright.
