For a guy with a messed up shoulder, Brent Morel ain't doin too bad with the stick.
  4. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) From the team's twitter feed: http://twitter.com/OFFICIAL_TIGERS/status/19774611329 Tigers acquire Jhonny Peralta from Indians for minor league pitcher Giovanni Soto. #mlb Well, we're f***ed. WHAT... WHA??!?! (and yes I know their first names are spelled differently)

QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) Note to self: Must not get drawn into another Shipps penis thread. I was thinking Jason hacked into shipps account and made alittle revenge penis thread.
  6. Welcome Jackie! Always good to have another ST poster with great/inside information to share. We've now had sox prospects, girlfriends/wives/moms of sox prospects, and MLB players (though now alot on other teams) post here and possible FO guys.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) The Twins lineup is currently 5th in the AL in runs. The Sox are 8th and probably would be 7th if the Angels hadn't played 4 more games than us. They're a good lineup, but they're by no means putting up an awe-inspiring season like I thought they could. There are doing this with Morneau on the DL mostly this month, Hudson missing time on the DL, Punto/Hardy's .366 OBP vs lefties on the DL at one time, and about a 40% Joe Mauer since May. Their line-up is legit. Young is having an incredible year, and I don't expect that to last, but Kubel and Span are having down years for their perspectives. They need a 3B though.. but the way Valencia is hitting, they might be even more dangerous and don't need to trade to get one. Their pitching is what I never would have thought would be this good. (though I told wite a while back Liriano was going to be very good or "back" this year) Thank god Joe Nathan is gone for the season. Rauch would have made for an excellent set-up man (or a solid MR in the 7th inning to turn to Guerrier).
  8. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) Oh yeah, looks like Ben Sheets is out for the season due to flexor tendon surgery. From Susan Slusser of the SF Chronicle: Is that potential career ending? That is his second one.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 04:37 PM) Point is...our #1 guy, the single most expensive player on our roster, has in fact gone down. We can't be in that bad of shape if we can survive that. Exactly. And the sox are just fine with Daniel Hudson stepping in as well. Only problem is how much patience will we have to go through the growing pains in a pennant race.
  10. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 10:36 PM) What about Brett Myers? He's been throwing very well lately but he shouldn't command an exorbinant price tag. Geez.. I mention him once early in this thread (before his good game vs the Cubs tonight) now I got you and fathom (in another thread) backing me up with it?! Give credit where credit is due people. In all seriousness, I think he would be a fantastic pickup for a contending team as a 4 or 5 in the rotation. (especially one in the NL) Astros brass however are now saying they don't want to trade him. Google why (I already gave part of why earlier here) and you might shake your head as much as I did. There is a reason why that organization is freaking terrible.
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 11:37 PM) In my softball league tonight, I ended up ruining my pitchers perfect game when I made a throwing error at 3rd base. I really f***in suck at life. Alexeiiiii...... NO! NOOOOO!!! NOOOOO!!!! NOOOOOOOO!!
  12. Bulls in trade talks for Rudy Fernandez. Could be a very good match. Portland is crazy though if they are still asking for the moon. Bulls draft pick(s) "should" be able to get that done.
  13. Saladino.. I keep saying watch out for this kid. Great Falls put up a sox-like beating tonight. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...idarok_grfrok_1
  14. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 07:28 PM) You're a good knowledgeable poster but sometimes I just laugh. At least 75% of you posts have a sabremetric stat in it. I guess I just laugh because there's such a difference in anything you see with the mainstream media ( newspapers and TV) and what you see online from young baseball fans. Him and southsideirish (when he was here) have eerily similar posting styles. Big saber fans (or as some posters like to call em in the past.. saber-dorks. )
  15. I expect Mark Kotsay to be in tomorrow's lineup. Great ass kicking though.
  16. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 06:09 PM) I'm starting to get impatient. Just do SOMETHING, ANYTHING to alleviate my crippling trade deadline boredom. Looking at that dot on your sig, I thought my computer screen was broken... or if I was tweaking.
  17. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 05:57 PM) Women = the Devil.... that is all that needs to be said. THE DEVIL!!!
  18. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 05:33 PM) The Hawks have been a good drafting team for quite some time now. They've delivered at least 1 starting caliber player in every draft since 2002. 02: Keith, Wisniewski 03: Seabrook, Crawford, Byfuglien 04: Bolland, Brouwer, Dowell, Bickell, Barker 05: Hjalmarsson (and possibly Skille/Davis/Brophey this yr) 06: Toews (possibly Danis-Pepin or Makarov) 07: Kane Beach and Lalonde in 08, Olden, Pirri, Kruger in 09, and the Hayes brothers in 10. They didn't draft Jimmy. Plus I believe Jimmy was picked in 2009 by the Maple Leafs. Hawks just traded their 3rd round pick to get him this year. Alot of people liked how Leddy and Lalonde feed off each other in prospect practice. A scout was quoted they could be the 19 and 20 year old version of Keith and Seabrook in due time.
  19. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 04:23 PM) Heh, like that's at all possible anymore, this was the "prove it" season and he's failed miserably, he's hurting himself on every slide now. Haha I know man.. just wanted to take alittle shot at ya for saying you don't buy into Q being injury prone "unless he tears an ACL or somethin" post.. I told ya he was a walking glass. Wouldn't surprise me if he landed on the DL sneezing or something like other players have.
  20. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 03:57 PM) I used to be a big Smoak fan, but I've soured on him quite a bit. The guy has absolutely no chance vs. any breaking ball right now. Haha. Ya I remember you were his biggest fan in that 08 draft and lobbied for him. (though there were a couple other posters too) I didn't blame you then or not though.. I still like that kid's upside. Shame hitting at Safeco might kill his power output though, unless he gets a bit stronger. Great plate discipline though.. probably will have around the same BB:SO ratio.. probably more BBs if/when he gets more dangerous at the plate.
  21. QUOTE (lord chas @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) with pkt on the garrett jones idea pfft... me and fathom (especially me) have been on that bandwagon months ago. Does this thread count if you just mean players as sleepers being traded to other teams? If so I think Brett Myers will be a fantastic sleeper pickup for a contending team in the NL (possibly AL, though he's probably better in the NL) to pick as a #4 or #5. Plus that team is dealing with the Astors GM which you can probably net him on the cheap. Plus, he's a FA (mutual option of 8 million) at the end of the season though I've read the Astro brass wants to bring him back cause of this quote.. "he could be a foundation for future rotations" which doesn't make sense. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 04:37 PM) I'm sure SoxAce is right there with you and I think you're all nuts. Haha Kalapse beat me to it.
  22. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) I don't know...Hudson is not a highly regarded prospect outside the Sox system. Looking at your post recently, you are listening to Keith Law (who most here take with a grain of salt evaluating sox prospects) way too much. Not saying he isn't reliable (at times, he knows his stuff) but he isn't the end all evaluator especially considering a so called clouded history with sox management. I overrate Hudson a bit, but I think he will be a solid #3.
