  1. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 09:57 PM) It appears the Hawks have decided to walk away from Niemi... they just "reportedly" signed Marty Turco for 1.75 million per WGN TV Dan Roan Now they are saying the report is false.. We'll see tomorrow I guess.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:55 PM) Why isn't there one of these? Please sticky this, mods. There was a huge thread for this months ago, but after it got so popular and some posters got tired of it cause thats when a good majority of the board was working out to get back in shape, and they happen to click on a food thread to post healthy stuff when they realize it was actually junk or very tasty food making them crave it and then hated the thread. (then I believe there was a healthy food thread... which wasn't nearly as popular of course )
  3. God dammit I keep missing this. I caught the first episode and have missed the last two cause I keep forgetting it's on Sundays which is such a pathetic day to have it on, but whatever.

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 09:40 PM) Looks like Holmberg's first game with Missoula will be against his former teammates. That is going to be very interesting.
  5. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 04:27 PM) Good. I hope Edwin plays with a chip on his shoulder now trying to prove to Kenny that it is a GOOD thing that they couldn't work out a deal to trade away EJax. He's had a "chip on his shoulder" for the past 4+ years now. But hey, maybe the 5th team in 4 years is the lucky charm for him... (and some Don Cooper)
  6. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 05:18 PM) torres will start a game on tuesday and then expect to see your new first round pick shortly after!! Very nice. Good to get a good look at Sale.
  7. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) AL vs. NL. Hitters park vs. Pitchers park. Let's all relax a bit before putting Hudson in the Hall of Fame. Ya it's only one start. I remember seeing the same things with John Ely when he had his hot start, who I was never a fan of cause of limited upside (though I hate Juan Pierre also so I didn't mind people hating on the trade), but I will root for him cause he is a sox fan. With that said though, I was one of Huddy's biggest fans since he was drafted out of Old Dominion. Didn't like the trade, but am willing to see what EJax can do with us. I will be rooting for Huddy for sure.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 02:25 PM) Word. Take notes mortals. JoeCoolMan24 Fixed.
  9. Well how bout that. Bobby uses two pitches (fastball and curve though he threw one cutter as a show me) and gets a 1-2-3 inning. Its not rocket science.

QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:53 AM) Does anyone else order way too much food when they have been drinking? I went through whataburger and order like $12 worth of s*** and I ate half of it and realized there was no way I could eat the rest of this stuff.. I was much worse when I was a huge stoner in high school, but I'm the same way regardless. Just a couple of weeks ago when I was hammered at the bar, me and my buddies went over to white castle and got not 1.. but 2 crave cases (I'm sure the people who worked that nights HATED us). Only problem was... there was only three of us in the car. We were so convinced those little burgers would do s*** to us and the money we pitched in would be more than worth it... whoops. Funny thing is I remembered the next day (hung over) doing the same thing about a year ago, when me and my buddies came back from a party over to a friend's house, and we could barely finish one crave case and it was 6 of us at that time.
  11. QUOTE (BearingPro @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 10:48 PM) Very cool idea starting this thread...some notable transactions have occured during this period. Of course we all know about Alex Rios. Hopefully the guy we "might" get won't be as bad as Rios was that year he was claimed in contention.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 09:29 PM) Nice to have a young stud you can truly get excited about (and I haven't forgotten Beckham. But I can't stroke him again until he gets his average up to .275). Ill say this. It is really nice to see him hitting in the .240s instead of the .210s and below like he was. At least it is respectable to look at. Now if Beckham can take some walks once in a while like he did when he was hitting .200 earlier in the first couple months in the season (despite the low average, but had a solid OBP), I would love him more (it's like he's talking to A.J. about plate discipline way too much lately).
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 09:22 PM) I think he can be a much better hitter than Uribe. I've seen some people are comparing him to Uribe. I believe he was compared to Uribe in his swing and follow through, not his overall offense. Though I'll venture to guess he also resembles Uribe's plate discipline, but he won't strike out nearly as much as Juan did cause Dayan has much better pitch recognition/batting eye. But at 21 though, he really is something. Looking at other clubs with guys like Heyward, Stanton, Posey, Castro, etc... it's nice to watch a kid just as young, if not younger than some of those talents and is on your team hitting. (stay out of the age thing iamshack.. ) And no I'm not comparing them as players, just in age.
  14. Happy belated man.
  15. I've read a s***load of this thread. I will probably be hammered tonight (friend's birthday) but i'll be quietly getting the popcorn to read all this tomorrow.
  16. Poor Jackson... dude just can't stay in one place for more than a year it seems. Good luck to Huddy. I'll be rooting for him. Hopefully Cooper sees something that can make Jackson as highly touted as once before as he LOVES the guy.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 03:58 AM) Whoa, I can't agree with you there. I don't think he's Magic good regardless. But definitely top 10, maybe top 5, caliber if he does max out. But I'm sorry. And I'm getting a lot of crap from Bulls fans at work and on realgm. But I'm not going to pretend we can run with the Heat. Not in 2011, 2012, 2013 or any other year in the not so distant future. Unless something unexpected (a major injury) occurs, the Heat have the east on lockdown for a while. Its unfair to really compare anyone with Magic. Dude was friggin 6'9 for god sakes. Plus, he was a Guard-Forward. Now Jason Kidd on the other hand is a different story, who Derrick was often compared to comming out. (also D-Wade) Didn't even mention the Heat. I actually agree with you. Still think the Lakers can beat them though... at least this year.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 03:20 AM) But even if he maxes out, he still probably won't be better than Chris Paul, let alone LeSidekick. If Derrick Rose ever maxed out, he would be putting up numbers no PG has ever seen. Unfortunately, he will never fully max out because IMO, his overall development the past couple of years was limited by VDN and didn't have that much good talent or fits surrounding him. (got by more on talent, not overall efficiency and this is me talking as far as how much upside I believe this kid truly has) Having said this, he is still young enough to be an incredible player. Better than pre injury Chris Paul? I don't see it either, but I think he can be better than Deron Williams for sure.
  19. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:22 AM) hey hey hey the hood on the northside is just as bad bro. dont want to mess with humboldt park and logan square i tell ya. i mean just to keep it fair and not make it seem like the southside is the cause of all our city's troubles Alright.. you got me on Humboldt park.
  20. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:09 AM) That's absolutely true and those who say otherwise are absolutely wrong. I've seen gang 1st hand that hasn't been reported on the news. And I have never, EVER heard the terms Latin Kings or GD's or anything of the sort on the news. It's easy for people to say that crime isn't an issue when they've never been jumped for no reason or they've never had their garage broken in to multiple times or they've never had cops drive around their neighborhood with spotlights between houses and in yards while helicopters are flying overhead or they don't hear gunshots once a week. Agreed 100% Slav, and you know damn well I've seen my share of s***. (and I'd bet millions much worse) I'll say this though.. since I'm not sure how often you go back to the hood, it is much worse in places like Hegewish or by Calumet than it is on the south east side now-a-days... though I don't live out there either cept when visiting couple times a month to crash.. only hearing it from people still living there.
  21. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:07 AM) If you really are reading everything I post, then you would see I put Morel and Hudson on the same level of "keep them if you can". Obviously since Hudson is the one everyone covets, then the next best thing would be to protect Morel if you can. I don't even consider Morel our 3rd best prospect (maybe not even top 5 though I'm different when I count high upside guys like Mitchell, Thompson, etc.. even injured and I didn't even mention Sale) in our entire weak system. He isn't the "next best thing." Solid prospect, but not a blue chip (or even a red chip). Good news for you is I highly doubt the sox could trade a guy with a torn labrum unless said team really likes the prospect overall to off-set that injury. It's not like they could hide it/see it comming. (ala Sirodka, Garcia, etc..)
  22. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:07 AM) If Hudson is involved might mean LaRoche could be coming as well. That is the only reason why I could stomach the deal a bit more... and IMO makes more sense.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:59 AM) JReed, do you really want AJP to lose his starting job to Castro??? Are we really having this discussion after a 2 homer game versus the M's? You could hit a homer vs. the Ms. Castro is doing very very well in his backup role. AJ is AJ. He is part of the heart and soul of this team. You don't believe that or do you? Now your putting words I've never said into your mouth. You discussed chemistry, I called you out on that and you mentioned A.J. (for whatever reason) which I said we won with Castro as well. My point is don't act like A.J. (who has been terrible offensively this season) is the reason why the sox are doing well. Castro nor anyone else individually is the reason either. The sox are winning because our pitching as a whole has been fantastic and we are playing great defensively. (especially Alexei)
