QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 12:23 AM) Ya it's the break. I'm sure Konerko and Thornton might be terrible at the all-star game, but hey if you don't see her when we get back to business (we still gotta win 2 to have another 10 game win streak) it's all good. American league better win though. Yikes... I need some lottery tickets.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 10:10 PM) From March 13th on, he was averaging almost 30 minutes a game. I think he's more than capable of that especially with another summer full of rehab and workouts. And he's from Illinois. I think the Bulls could easily get him for under 2 mil a year. From March 13th till about mid March, he only played 25+ minutes four times UNTIL the last 10 games or so like I said where he was having 34, 36, 37, 39, 37, 37, 41, etc.. minute nights (pretty much every night). That is one of the main reasons I caught a couple games from him. He is from Peoria. You are correct though, that does hold some weight from him as a backup since he isn't playing on a terrible Wizards team, nor won't be the starter (still though 36 games, 22 minutes per is still a risk). But I hope he can at least be adequate defensively. I would no doubt, love to see him sign here. BTW, I still won't jump the gun on netting Redick as some posters here have. I still think the Magic owner will ridiculously match it.

NL takes home field advantage in the World Series
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 11:08 PM) I could care less what he did in this game as long as he comes back healthy and rested. Not to mention mentally fresh. I hate seeing guys (Dan Uggla quickly comes to mind) who had a poor all-star game effect him the remainder of the season. (sad to even say but even professional baseball players are mentally weak)

P90X
Ya I haven't worked out in a week and a half since finishing the Insanity program, and I was sick the past few days and just got over it. MAYBE I'll start tomorrow, but I'll probably just ply some basketball to get some type of cardio going.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 05:59 PM) I'm seeing a lot of Livingston love around here. I'm assuming he played pretty well last year after completely destroying his knee? He played well the last 10 games or so for the Wizards. Signing him though would be a major risk, considering this season will be his full first in about 3-4 years. I caught a couple of games he played last season, and the explosion just isn't there for him anymore. He is tentative still going to the basket as I'm sure in the back of his mind he doesn't want his knee giving out again (though at spurts he will surprise with what he still has and at other spurts, he will ole' an assignment just to protect his knee), which would probably end his career and never had a 3 point shot (which I don't like that fit behind Rose or when Derrick and him play together cause of his length which will happen) and isn't very strong nor as fast guarding quicker PG and stronger SG. With all that said though, he is an excellent passer, excellent court vision (better than Rose) and can break down a defense with his superior ball handling and as a very high basketball I.Q. Sad to see the bad luck he's had though. He could of been one of the most interesting PG to follow in the game now with all his potential. (still has it, but more-so needs to get by with craftiness ala Nash) He is definitely worth the vet minimum though. Paying him say.. Kyle Korver money wouldn't be wise unless it was for a short term deal. (1.. 2 years tops) I might prefer a guy like C.J. Watson, maybe Keyon Dooling (though that is if worse comes to worst, or if the Bulls prefer a veteran backup), but Livingston might be the better fit. I just hope Rose doesn't get too burned out played 38+ minutes a night or I hope Shaun really is back capable of playing at least 13-15 minutes a night.

2010 Minor League Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 03:33 PM) Well this is assuming they don't all regress massively like the numbers suggest they will. Well I'm counting on that of course, especially going up to another level where the competition is harder and they can very easily flame out/have a bad year, but the defense will be there (minus Gilmore) all around and they should have pretty good pitching. Remember Jeff, I was the one who said W-S would be our best minor league affiliate this year. I have no problems going on record again saying the Barnos (or Kanny) will probably be our best affiliate next season.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 02:25 PM) Worth considering though is that Bosh was on a Suns style offensive team...they made it a point the last few years that they weren't going to care about classical defense. Actually if I remember, Sam Mitchell's system was predicated on the Raptor perimeter defenders forcing the guy to the lane where if everyone rotated correctly help would finish him off. He also ran the triangle if I'm not mistaken, so his players had to have had a high I.Q. Problem was, most of his players gave no effort in alot of games and pretty much tuned him out/gave up on him. Bosh even with a block a game, was very well known as a lazy defender when he was in Toronto and only turned it up at certain times. I don't want to defend Mitchell, cause obviously he had alot of flaws as well and well deserved to get the axe, but he did get a pretty raw deal.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 02:10 PM) Can't be 2009 every year. Maybe Charlie Leesman will be interesting to watch this week. Ya 2011 is going to be another fun Barons team to watch. Most of those W-S kids will probably be promoted up there next season. (some even making the jump very soon this year)

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 02:48 PM) PG - Rose/Livingston SG - Redick/Brewer SF - Deng/Korver/Johnson PF - Boozer/Gibson C - Noah/Asik The Bulls are obviously going all out to build around Rose and it shows. They couldn't get him a Batman for him to play Robin, so they are gonna try and make him the Batman in the foreseeable future.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) Kobe's going to go downhill fast from here, IMO. We already saw some of it last year. He was able to put the injury out of his mind somewhat in the playoffs but it was already hurting him. Kobe had a worse PER than David Lee last year. Howard's weaknesses offensively are as well documented as Bosh's weaknesses defensively. Howard was 5th in the league in PER last year, Howard was 4th. I'd give you that one as a tie, but I will note that Howard was in that case where he has a much, much better roster to cover for his weaknesses. Durant is the one guy I think you're right about and I legitimately put him ahead of Bosh. FYI, PER isn't the end it all, know it all stat when it comes to basketball efficiency. That is like saying +/- is the end it all know it all stat for hockey in efficiency or even UZR in evaluating baseball defense. It is a good indicator, but like UZR and the +/-, it has it's flaws and should not be the main source in evaluating a player when said player plays in a different system (run and gun, up tempo, triangle, etc..) different bench rotations, etc. Some things you have to look at with your eyes and your head (plus other evaluations like a player's worth) to really get a different grasp of a player. I would think anyone with a brain would never put David Lee ahead of Kobe Bryant PER or age be damned. With that being said though, Kobe will probably never be the same with that finger in overall efficiency. BTW, I also rate Chris Paul very highly on my personal list of best players in the game. People really forget how good he is/was before the injury last season.

July White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 12:22 PM) Doesn't Law also hate the Cardinals, and don't they run a similar philosophy? Ya I remember him not being too found of the Cardinals either. But hey.. LaRussa has White Sox ties. I guess he hates seeing teams who have won a world series (and another appearance from St. Louis) with that strategy.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 01:10 PM) Looks like Okur might be trade bait then. He has to prove he is completely healthy then. He did have a torn Achilles tendon last season in the playoffs (which really sucks for basketball players) and I'm not sure if he'll be ready for the Jazz opening game hence the Jefferson move at the moment.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 04:48 PM) Rienzo has some nice K/BB numbers, but man is he inconsistent. Him and Cameron Bayne should both go to a consistency class together. Brandon Short with his 13th homer.

Hawk and Stoney worst broadcast booth in baseball (according to GQ)
Most out of towners love Steve Stone. But even he can't help those other fans "like" Hawk. Luckily white sox fans have one of the best broadcasters ever. People may hate Hawk's homerism, but they still say his "Hawkisms" to a tee for their team(s) they root for. I've heard plenty of it myself from Cubs fans.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 02:27 PM) Rogers being more realistic about next move and Kyle Beach already kicking ass and taking names, albeit one of his new teammates. oh, and beach knocked this olimb guy out for 4 months. They fought twice over weekend and beach kind of jumped him 2nd time. Shoulder I think. Foreign media actually reported it Man what a head case. I know prospects are trying to prove something, but the guy not only was like 5'9 160, but he's a part of your organization and maybe a future teammate! They better be offering their first rounders and other picks next year to include with Campbell and he still has to agree to a deal. Thing is, if they could have moved him prior, why didn't they? Might have been able to keep Byfuglien/Versteeg. And yes, I know Soupy is a good player. As far as Niemi, hopefully he loses his arb case, especially because of the defense he played in. It could work however in salary, but they have to trade Reasoner and/or Kopecky and Sharp pretty much has to play center. (though I'm sure Q will have him at LW at times on certian shifts) Beach (1.171) - Toews (6.3) - Kane (6.3) Stalberg (.850) - Sharp (3.9) - Hossa (5.275) Brouwer (1.025) - Bolland (3.375) - Skille (.875-.900) Bickell (.675) - Dowell (.525) - Kopecky (1.2) UFA or Rookie (.500) Keith (5.538) - Seabrook (3.5) Campbell (7.143) - Hjalmarsson (3.5) Connelly (.875) - Lalonde (.773) or Hendry (.600-.650) Scott (.512) UFA goalie or Niemi (1.5-2.0) Toivonen (.550) 200-300k in cap room and thats assuming Beach makes it and Q offers to Skille, Hendry, Niemi, Lalonde making it, etc.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) It'd essentially cost them $14 mil to keep Redick, which is pretty nuts if you ask me. Wouldn't surprise me with the Magic owner. He might be a billionaire, but he's handed out alot of terrible contracts in his tenure (and made alot of dumb decisions). I think he would be an idiot to match Redick who would be a bench player on his team. (I thought 14 million, but now I'm hearing it will be more around 17 million) But then again, I thought Gortat was gone and he had me left scratching my head there too. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 03:34 PM) Yeah I know the luxury tax implications, but I was just explaining what the actual contract was. Rich Devos is getting really old and really wants to see a championship. So in that sense, it wouldn't surprise me if we matched it. You have to remember with the Magic moving into a brand new building, they'll be generating more revenue going forward as well. Thing is, how much can you be confident in? Teams like Miami, Chicago, Milwaukee, etc.. have seriously improved and you still have teams like the Lakers, Celtics, etc.. who will be the same (and are still better than Orlando) and up and commers like the Thunder, Philly etc.. on the rise.
