  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 05:01 PM) The Kotsay situation is reminding me of Dusty Baker and his non-stop love for Neifi Perez That is who Ozzie is often compared to. (except he is much better at handling pitching staffs)
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 04:42 PM) Last week was Felix vs Floyd. Ah your right. I was thinking of Danks 2 hitter against Seattle and forgot it wasn't against Felix.
  3. King Felix vs Smokin' Danks again... might be another 1-0. 2-1 or 3-2 type game that I like to see.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 12:52 PM) I really think AJ didn't want to call for the slider yesterday, especially if anyone was on base, because he didn't think he could block it. I told that to fathom in the game thread yesterday. Reminds me of Bobby's curve "disappearing."
  5. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 11:46 PM) Do you guys anticipate the Barons being stacked next year? QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 11:51 PM) God, I hope so. I'm already on record by telling JPN the Barons will be much better next season where most of the W-S guys (and I was right about W-S being our best this year) will be there. I think they and Kanny (though I might like Kanny a bit more depending if a couple of guys I got in mind stay or make the jump) will be our best affiliates next season.
  6. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 10:55 PM) No surprise about the Cell, but I thought for sure Wrigley Field would be up there in terms of filth. I'm shocked as well, but I can't really say it since I've never been to Wrigley. I can only go by what people tell me (and most of them are Cubs fans cept those sox fans I know who attended a game(s) there and people here.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 10:44 PM) Well, if the other mods/admins decide to suspend me, then I will deal with the consequences. But that is for them to decide, not you, Gerry, or you, Greg. Secondly, simply because insults are couched in friendly language does not make them non-actionable. We are all big boys here. The meaning and intent is every bit or more important than the language used. It isn't just you, and your one of the few posters I like Mark. Just alittle thing I've generally seen for a while that has really irked myself (and I'll just speak for myself this time) or little snark comments that of course will go unnoticed with a poster with some power. I've seen far too many times a guy gets alittle power on a message board, and clearly it gets to their head even if they don't realize it. BTW I just don't like that second paragraph from you man. Reminds me of that incident with Milk's friendly "couched" comment (in green tile no less) to Jim not too long ago in a thread. You don't deserve a letter/warning though, just like J4L didn't deserve one.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 11:04 PM) p.s. Glad to see others being involved in aggressive soxtalk rather than myself. I'm still trying to figure out how somebody can tell somebody "f*** you" on here and not get in trouble and I get in trouble for my posts, but that's just me. Although I did agree with the overall sentiment of the f*** you post except for the f*** you part. I also cherish 2005. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 11:30 PM) But this definitely reinforces the fact that mods/admins play by a different set of rules than us "mortals." I would've already gotten a PM alerting me of a suspension if I had come at somebody like this. Don't worry. You both are not the only ones and I'm not just talking about myself from what I've noticed over time. I'll leave it at that. BTW J4L, I'm shocked it was you who created this. I was waiting for my guy 101 to create something like this.
  9. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 10:22 PM) If T-Mac got Comeback Player of the Year, the Bulls would have an amazing season. If they got a 75-80% T-Mac, the Bulls are one of the rare teams that could challenge the Heat/Lakers. It wouldn't be long if/when he supplants Brewer for the starting role if he is even around that percentage for the former superstar. (especially as a legit threat from the perimeter even if he hasn't been that good at all through-out his career, but just the "threat" he possesses greatly helps Derrick) Now, as of last week and throughout most of the process, I wanted nothing to do with him. (much rather sign Roger Mason and call it an off-season) But seeing some reports of the Clippers brass (though that isn't saying much) like him, Stan Van Gundy's comments of slurping him when he worked out for them, him being one year and six months removed from surgery, being my favorite player in the late 90s early 2000s (still have his Toronto and Magic jerseys when I was younger) a few youtube highlights of him playing last year trying to tell me hes "still got it" and the only game I caught of him playing was his first game where he played very well versus the Thunder is affecting my better judgment. (especially if/when he is basically useless in an up-tempo style transition and forces Derrick to slow down and use more half-court sets when they are running)
  10. And I thought they stole Kazmir last year at his lowest value prior to excellent seasons (though he's been brutal this year) but god damn that is nothing compared to this package....
  11. Ravelo starting to heat up a bit. Great Falls. Decent outing for Upchurch.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 05:08 PM) Neither one of them can throw that pitch for a strike right now. And they don't want the risk of injury for throwing too many.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 05:06 PM) So where's his slider? The same place where Bobby's curve went. They aren't being called enough for whatever reason.
  14. QUOTE (The Beast @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) Way to suck on the west coast, White Sox. For some reason, it is always Oakland's stadium that gives us the most trouble out of all the W.C. teams.
  15. Would like alittle more consistency from ST posters. First it was "damn Huddy is a stud" from his last start and now "Huddy is overrated." He'll be more than fine no doubt in my mind. Pretty much an adjustment period for him. He was brutal the first month for AAA before dominating the last two months. He would be damn good if he was pitching like a reliever, but he is taking his slumps as a starter with more innings, more patient hitters, etc.. Honestly he is one of the least of my worries if he'll still be here in this pennant race.
  16. I like Gilmore alittle more than some.. but I think people are gonna be even more disappointed if/when he moves up to that Barons ballpark with his under-developing (so far) power, unless he still wants to continue to hit .330+.
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 11:11 PM) Again, this is where the market benefits the Sox. No one wants to pay the kings ransom for Prince and the Sox could pay less for Dunn and Fielder's price only goes down from here, so they may forcer the Brewers hand. Dunn is signed for two months (possibly three for a contender) and will be a Type A free agent. Prince is signed for one year and 2 months (possibly three for a contender) and will be a Type A free agent. The Brewers will be fine in value if they hold on to Prince for the rest of the season.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 10:35 PM) In other words, he's bad. He's the Jim Hendry of the American League. No. He is either a rich man's Jim Hendry or Jim Hendry is a poor man's Dave Dombrowski. Dave is a much better GM. Hendry would never have the balls to sell high on his prospects to get a Miguel Cabrera type superstar.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 08:46 PM) If they are going to give us Fielder, my guess is the deal has to include Beckham with Hudson, Flowers for sure and maybe more. The GM will get run out of town if it's Viciedo in place of Beckham. Oddly enough, Greg is the only one that seems to hit the nail on the head. Most executives and guys with sources (also from what I've heard) have indicated any deal with Prince has to start with Beckham (or they cannot see any deal being made if the deal does not have Beckham + a prospect in it). Obviously KW will not do that. (especially with Beckham hitting again, and what we view him as) Now, I can see their asking price lowered possibly this comming off-season or by the deadline next season where a guy like Huddy would probably be the main prize (especially if he's more established, though who knows if the sox would need a 1B/DH by then) but as of right now, Prince (for us at least, maybe not other teams with better farms) is much more of a pipe dream than Adam Dunn.
  20. QUOTE (YASNY @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 05:27 AM) After not even viewing this site in weeks I decide to see what's going on. I start reading at page 21 of this thread and see two pages of bickering, sniping and name calling. Now I remember why I stopped coming on here. Sad to see... your a very good poster Yas. Hate to see when guys like you, qwerty, be good, etc.. "take a break." Brings the site down quite a bit.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 05:18 PM) Does Steve Stone need to call out Ozzie for not starting Dayan?? It worked with Lou I said it before here if Steve Stone was not employed with the Sox, he would of called out Ozzie long ago on it.
  22. QUOTE (chunk23 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:02 PM) Pierre hasnt hit well enough to win one. Bingo. Someone finally hit it dead on. Sad to say it comes down to that, but that's the way it goes.
  23. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 08:26 PM) Jeremy Reed is 3/3 so far. AVG to .303. Woo! lol. :headbang :headbang QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 08:31 PM) Andre Rienzo 6 IP, 0 R, 10 K, 0 BB, 2 H. WOW. Shades of DLS there. Jeff has said before he is one to watch down there. Saladino is gonna be a nice prospect to watch.
