Daniel Hudson watch thread
QUOTE (RME JICO @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 01:36 AM) He did have a very solid first half, and if he produces similar numbers for the Sox here on out, then I have no problem with the trade. However, that is one good half year out of seven? That wasn't the point. And you are pretty much arguing with yourself here. I think about 95% of the posters who posted in this thread weren't fans of the trade neither. Now as qwerty said (I believe it was him) in another thread, if he pitches like Cy Young for the next 1.5 years he is here (or MIGHT be here) or pretty much like how he's been pitching now (or in that first half last year), it'll be much easier to stomach the deal. (or if Hudson is just terrible in the NL/arm falls off, whatever)

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 10:55 PM) I never thought I'd hear a King Crimson sample in a Kanye West song. Not a fan of the song personally (then again, Kayne has always been weak lyrically IMO), but the video is amazing.

Daniel Hudson watch thread
QUOTE (RME JICO @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 01:36 AM) Also, the All-Star nod was crazy in 2009, he was good, but not an All-Star. I hated the trade too, but now your talking as crazy as Balta here. I don't think you realize how good his first half was. 2.52 era, 1.06 whip, .223 oba, not to mention pitched better AWAY than he did at home that first half. (and finished that way as well. He might have been lucky looking at his FIP and his BABIP when the season ended overall, but thats beside the point) He actually had much better numbers overall than his all-star teammate Justin Verlander. (besides wins, strikeouts... the standard numbers) The only snubs that should have been there (I'm talking pitchers) were Kevin Millwood and Jered Weaver. Somehow guys like Brian Fuentes and Tim Wakefield (Tim f***ing Wakefield) made that team instead of them. Same as hitters getting snubbed from other hitters. (Pedroia over Kinsler, Hamilton over Lind OR Dye etc..)

QUOTE (CSF @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 09:49 PM) 2 BB, 21 K's in 14 IP. Yeah, I'd say you're right. Make that 2 BBs, 24 K's in 17 IP. His August numbers are just ridiculous.

8/11 Games
Nice night for the Knights. Damn near everyone raised their batting average up. BTW I think Teahen's bat is pretty much ready. Escobar got his average up to .255 and that was vintage Stephen Sauer day pitching wise (last year's Sauer) with 0 walks. BTW scenario... you got W-S box up twice. Here is Great Falls box.. Great Falls. Keep an eye on Addison Reed down there.

NBA Offseason Thread
QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 01:42 PM) Hmm, Ariza would have looked nice on the Bulls. I'd rather have him over Brewer/Korver and he makes a similar amount of money. Courtney Lee would of been the much better fit. I'm personally high on him, though he is a system guy. Indiana has a nice little team/future now with a legitimate young, solid PG. In fact.. I would label this as an amazing trade for them.

Is Freddy Dead (Armed?)
QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 12:02 AM) While chw42 brings up a good point, this is actually an interesting question. Will Freddy fall off the table because his body is no longer used to the full-season grind? This. I had to do a double take to make sure it was Greg who started the thread. Nice thread Greg. I remember the sox brass saying they are going to take it easy with Freddy with the innings pitched. People have to remember Freddy has not thrown this many innings in 4 years. He has already doubled his overall innings pitched from last season. Now this start was just an off night for Freddy, but in the future, I'm sure the sox will probably keep an eye on him more closely.

Game Thread 8/10: MIN v CWS, 7:10pm
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:07 PM) But we all assumed he would be replaced by a major league bat and not Mark Kotsay. This. I remember that "99 percent" was much, much lower around late December/early January when Ozzie was saying 'rotate DH' after Kotsay re-signed and Jones was signed. That was when most of the posters wanted Jim back. (unless we got Damon or any other solid bat) Ozzie falls in love way too much on sample sizes.

The Official Run Into Outs Thread
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 08:15 PM) The last two years, Rios stole 56 bases and was caught 13 times. This year, he'd matched that total of caught stealing and only has 24 steals. I keep telling people don't get me started on Ozzie's base running efficiency/tactics. He's got more speed than in years past.. and he still isn't using guys right. (whether that is a specific pitch, a specific count, hit and run or lack there of, etc... and on running counts, he doesn't run with the guys) If Pierre wasn't very good at sliding when he steals avoiding tags, that CS would be much worse.

August White Sox Catch-All Thread
The thing is it is a good idea............. when you have better hitters to rotate with. Thats what Ozzie doesn't get. We got real lucky Vizquel is hitting the way he is at age 43.

2010 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 06:53 PM) And what do you know? A fight breaks out... Cueto was kicking people with his spikes. He'll surely get in trouble. Yea.. knew it was gonna happen (thought Phillips would get plunked first) but didn't think it would be a shouting match between him and Molina... and in the first inning none-the-less.

8/10 Games
Brandon Short already has 6 walks in August (24 ABs). Other than June (9 BBs, 104 ABs) he's never had more than 5 in a month. Rienzo was solid again. Spatola was 2-4, 2B, R in his Kanny debut. Hollis was damn good in relief.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 03:34 PM) Brandon Phillips with a Torii Hunter/Orlando Hudson moment. Am I missing something? I don't think he said anything about the 'race' card in there. His comments were more that of his own teammate.. Joey Votto... except Votto hates the Cubs much more than the Cards. (Phillips is the opposite)

Fishing Thread
Haven't been in about 4-5 years, but prior to that, it was a tradition for my uncle and I when I was a kid. Always went to Michigan or Ohio to fish with my uncle and his friends. I know how to fish, but have not done so in years, so it'll probably be like riding a bike again. I can name a few lakes I've personally liked to fish in.

Jenks will Close again
QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 09:34 PM) Let Putz allow like... 3 times as many runs as he does and then he'll have earned the treatment Jenks gets when he does it. With Putz right now it's "oh s***," with Jenks it's "oh no, not again!" Not to mention Putz road era going into that at-bat... 0.00. That's right... 0.00 era on the road. How anyone can question that decision is absurd.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 05:55 PM) Nah, it's not CM Punk. It's one of the Nexus guys, but I can't remember who. No, that was his name on the I Love New York show.. Punk. He is engaged to Jennifer Hudson. I believe that is the same guy. EDIT: Ya I googled him. same guy, just used his real name as a wrestler name.
