QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 05:28 PM) the worst possible thing to happen is for us to beat up on these National League teams especially with another Cubs series and a Pirates and Nationals series, sigh, KW might be trying to ADD to this mess if we don't watch out.. This times 1000. Not to mention it will keep some posters hopes up here as well. (already seen a couple guys now think we may have turned a corner once again for the 1000th time this season)

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!

Insane parade. Pretty crowded of course and hot, but it was all worth it. Like how that random guy started throwing beers to everyone. Alot of the people I was around were very nice (two guys gave me 2 beers and I was slick to drink them before I was caught) All around great day. -
I'll change it up since everyone so far is Pro Rios for some reason.. Konerko.

I would say the NHL personally and I'm not even that big of a follower in hockey till the last couple of years. When you got as many upsets every year (had a 8 seed beat a 1 seed and a 2 beat a 7, 6 beat a 3, etc.. just this year) it goes to show how anything can happen in the postseason in that sport. Most of the others (NBA, MLB, NFL, Golf [if you want to call that a sport] Tennis, etc..) you actually have a good shot of predicting who will win it all before they even start playing or at least know who the final 4 guys would be. NCAA is an interesting one though. Not sure I want to count college sports though with professionals (in that case college baseball is hard too) but it is up there as well for me.

I'll just say this. I'll be beyond shocked if he isn't a reliever for us. Plus he had something that Poreda didn't... Tommy John surgery.

I am about 70% sure I'm going to this rally tomorrow with my friends. Gonna meet some girls up there as well and an old high school friend I haven't seen in like 5 years. The other 30% is just pure laziness (not wanting to wake up) from our end. -

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 12:45 PM) I love when we get shut down by a 6+ ERA pitcher.. To br fair, Max is a very talented young pitcher. This isn't Jake Jakubakas shutting us down. -

I still can't believe Vizquel turned around a 94-95 mph fastball, even though he was in a fastball count. -

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 01:00 AM) I thought of Dale tonight too. I imagine that tonight is not easy for him. I have this feeling that he is sitting somewhere in South Florida wiping down his thick rim glasses and muttering obscenities about Scotty Bowman. Dale built this team, there is no two ways about it. However, the Hawks made the decision to put their faith in a man who has won a slew of cups and I can't blame them. This isn't an amateur operation anymore and Dale made a few questionable signings in the years preceeding his dismissal. I feel bad for Cam Barker as well. -

Jonathan Toews: 2nd youngest captain to hoist the Stanley Cup (Crosby) 2nd youngest player to win the Conn Smythe Trophy (Roy) The youngest member of the Triple Gold Club (passed Forsberg) Antti Niemi: 1st Finnish goaltender to win the Stanley Cup. Unbelievable. -
Jesus Christ Lillibridge..... Love the crowds reaction to it too.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 01:16 AM) I put some vids on fb with madison celebration. I cant believe it. Ive been rooting for this team since I could stand, I cant believe it. I'm pretty sure my eagle eye saw the goal before anyone in the country besides Kaner. Wow. f*** you Pronger. Me and this random guy were the only ones celebrating at Hooters (we both saw Kane's reaction only) and my friends (and everyone else there) were like "WTF" till they saw the bench clear, then everyone cheered. -

I hope more of the big boys in the org. give Dale Tallon his kudos. This is still his team. (I like Stan, but wasn't cool to see him get all the kudos by people when it was Dale who put this team together) There is a rumor going that all the players are gonna pinch in and buy Tallon a ring. That would be very classy of them all. -

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 11:46 PM) Sharp or Ante should have won the MVP I would say 60% of the people at the restaurant wanted Kane to get it before it was announced (the others Antii and Toews too), but they didn't mind Toews winning at all. -
Man this is a tough question.... I gotta think real hard about this.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 10:57 PM) Agreed... While I'm very happy the Hawks won and I've always at least semi-followed the Hawks (see how they're faring, play as them in video games, etc), I would never try to say I'm a legit fan. Not like I am with the Bears, Bulls, and White Sox... So I'm very happy for you true fans. It's been a long time coming and you've put up with a lot over the years. ^^^^^^^^^ Seriously this. As a new follower since Kane and Toews were drafted (though always announced that) it is good to see guys here who were following them since the dark times and beyond that see history. Congrats to guys like Steve, Slavko, Jeff, Mike, Andrew, Critic (though he's a Red Wings fan too but you are a HOCKEY FAN) Athomeboy, Murcie, Chimpy, EvilJester, Jason, Tony, anyone else I missed here etc.. etc.. Just a great time to be a Hawks fan, and a follower of the game. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 06:59 PM) Flowers and Kroeger both 2/3 with HR. I told you Flowers would be fine in the power department.

f***ing unbelievalbe!!! Just got back to da crib. Fuycking crazy at Borbon street (wish I went) but it was f***ING CRAZY AT HOOTRS TOO!!! Kinda drunk, but still know what the f*** I'm doing!!! WOOOO HAWKS!!! KANE!!! TOEWS!!! HOSSA! NIEMI!!! THE WHOLE f***ING TEAM I LOVE YOU ALL!!!! FINALLY SOMETHIN GTO CELEBRATE IN CHICAGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) If he's hitting 40+ home runs a year, fine...but until he hits his 35th HR some season, I'm going to worry. More on a power tear than Viciedo in less ABs (and almost the same in gap power with limited ABs). He'll be fine in the power department. His OBP is still 7 points higher than Dayan with his average being 64 points lower.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 04:09 PM) Actually his K rate is worse than D2 by quite a bit. He's in Mark Reynolds territory...which tells you what he needs to have happen with his power numbers to be a productive player. Ya I just resaw his numbers.. May really f***ed him up. Still is walking more than Danks though. It goes to show how bad Flowers has been, and is still putting up a .775 OPS on the season.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 04:07 PM) His problem continues to be K's. He's struck out 8 times in 19 at bats in June. That's not going to go away. As long as he is walking at a good pace (has 3 BBs this month too, and he's always K'd alot, but produced a very good BB% rate too) to go along with the power, he'll be adequate. It's bad, but it isn't Jordan Danks bad.

I'm going to hold off hope that Flowers' May was just a bad month. April: .323/.432/.613/1.045 May: .122/.215/.280/.496 June: .263/.391/.684/1.076 (small sample size so far though) Hopefully he continues to perform this month. (didn't he say he is going back to his old swing? Might help him there)

FYI Dan, saw on your draft tracker you listed Ronzelle Fort as a RHP. He is in fact a LHP IIRC.
