QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 06:30 PM) No reason for them not to take Cox. Did they move Vitters out of 3B? Haven't really looked at their minors in a while. NVM they took a pitcher.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 06:27 PM) Honestly, no idea right now. My wife is hoping they take Ross Wilson in the 5 round range, as she loved him on Two-a-Days Kid from Alabama? I would hope the sox scouted over there from kids playing in their own background in their affiliate. Don't want another Desmond Jennings situation. I honestly don't know much about him. I know Jason loves Gary Brown, and is trying to put me on the bandwagon.

Cubs on the clock. Honestly they can go a ton of directions with their choice.
-
Now... fathom, Dirty, Jeff.. anyone you eying for the second pick that might fall?
-
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 06:19 PM) Thats Josh Sale. Bah both of you guys caught me before the quick edit. Had to do a double take. WRONG SALE!
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 06:16 PM) I'll be honest, I never watched video of him as I thought there was no chance he'd be around. I did, but only because I usually do with the top 20 prospects (mostly the ones I've never seen before) I just can't believe how much our org. has really did a complete 180 from the Wilder days. Beckham, Mitchell and now Sale. Hopefully we can avoid the TJ (ala Nevin Griffith) however.
-
Take that Brian Morgado! Our LHP in our minors just got a s***load stronger with one guy. Still need some work, but I love Sale.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 06:13 PM) 3 years in a row for me, which is really when I started following this. You were a bigger Mitchell fan than I was. I LOVED the Beckham pick as much as you did and I LOVE the Sale pick. (who I didn't think we had a shot in hell) I was ok on Mitchell, though loved his upside.
-
Beckham, Mitchell now Sale (if the rumblings are what looks like is happening)... Our draft philosophy has seriously taken a huge 180.
-
HOLY s***! SALE TO THE SOX!
-
There goes Grandal. Who was the last prospect people wanted that was taken right before us I remember.. NVM, it was Micheal Main.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 06:05 PM) Good to see McGuire go. Can't believe the two Sale's are going to be there. Cincy likely to take Wimmers. We couldn't have asked for this to go better, now is the time to pay up! It'll be interesting with them if they don't f*** up. Personally, I think they should take Cox, but they might be thinking of next year's crop of position players too. I heard they wanted Colon, and if he left, probably a pitcher.
-
Most of the Reds board would like Putz. Almost every team and fans want Thornton.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 05:57 PM) I know....just like every year....and they'll pass.....just like every year....and I'll be pissed.....just like every year.... You would think I would learn by now. I am going to hold out hope the last two years were any indication that the sox brass has changed their ways and are drafting more high upside guys. I loved the Beckham pick, and seriously warmed up to Mitchell (who I knew fathom called and liked)
-
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 06:53 PM) Isnt he projected in rounds 5-10? If that is the case, he will be our comp pick at the end of the third round. Yes he was. He is pretty damn talented. I wouldn't be pissed at all, unless it was before round 6. Wow.. Whitson picked before some of the other pitchers (and I LOVE Whitson). This draft is getting interesting.
-
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) Either Cox or Grandal look to be there, draft them and if they dont sign we will have two picks in the top 15 next year. Sadly after Laumann's quotes from a couple days ago they do not want that option. They want a signable player.
-
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 05:44 PM) fathom, the scary thing is that there is even a shred of believability to it. This is our org of course. It wouldn't surprise me to be honest. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 05:42 PM) I'm fine with it if its past round 40. He's actually kinda talented. Naw he can be taken much higher than that. By far the best Guillen player as far as his sons, though that isn't saying much.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 05:39 PM) Rumor is Sox are going to take Ozney with the first pick. You better not be bulls***ting fathom.
-
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 06:36 PM) I'm hoping Chris Sale might be around at 13. *Crosses Fingers* Whomever takes him or Allie at this point has quite the steals early on.
-
It'll be interesting to see from the Royals on what happens in this draft. If Grandal falls, I think that changes some complexion of it. I will also like to say the Pirates are going to be sick in a couple of years. I can't wait till they begin their Rockies-like rise in the NL Central.
-
Good, and I'll be excited when the first trade is announced (unless it's a terrible trade ).
-
I'm still on the bandwagon for a position player, but I'll warm up to a pitcher if the right one falls (I'll cream if we pick Allie or Whitson, but I doubt we go with a high schooler)
-
I'm really stocked. Got lucky so I might be on when the pick is announced. I'm loving the rumors, but not gettin excited till the pick is announced. Please, PLEASE no Wimmers.

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 11:51 PM) Guy? I have no idea who Guy is. Also you're aware we don't have a supplemental 1st rounder this year, right? Cobey Guy. A senior who plays for a small school, Wichita State. Huge sleeper with big potential (though needs another pitch to become a SP which probably won't happen). Here is alittle scouting report on him. I saw him pitch against Evansville, and I was blown away. Good stuff. At worst, he becomes a solid set-up man in the future, possible closer. (actually maybe "at worst" would be a solid middle reliever... but regardless, would love to nab him in the later rounds) And no I was not aware we didn't have a supp. pick. If I was I wouldn't have kept mentioning it without someone correcting me for weeks now. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 10:57 PM) For those curious, The Sox pick at 13, 63, 95, 114, 128 and so on... Thanks thunderbolt. Commin through in the clutch! You (or anyone) got the time the draft is gonna be? I unfortunately won't be on the computer till around 4-6 CT (and not again till about 10 pm or so), so I won't give any insight this year like in past years (or in rare cases for myself, might be a good thing to not look like an idiot in 2-5 years. ) till that time probably.
