QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 02:47 PM) Hudson's line: 6IP, 4H, 3ER, 3BB, 9K, 2HR 109 pitches. 68 strikes. Quality start. Nice outing for him. If it wasn't for Davis, his line probably looks even better.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 01:14 PM) Ryan Sweeney recently complained about how the Sox always used to try to make him change his swing. Maybe that is why Gordon Beckham has been a mental headcase because of the changes.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 02:03 PM) Nope, not really. 3 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K John was being sarcastic, but he still has to pitch about 3-4 scoreless innings to have a solid outing. He is on pace for another 10 SO game and his peripherals have been outstanding this year (especially since his April struggles)
  4. QUOTE (3E8 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 12:27 PM) Flowers absolutely tore the cover off the ball in 18 April games. He didn't struggle at all offensively to start the season. After altering his swing per Greg Walker's advice in May, Flowers stated in an interview the swing change didn't work for him and went back to his old swing in June. In 9 June games thus far, Flowers has an OPS over 1.200. I have very little concern in his offensive ability. This isn't a guy who's enjoying a temporary hot streak. He's been a beast with the bat his entire professional career Yep. Flowers in April: .323/.432/.613/1.045 Flowers in May (change of swing): .122/.215/.280/.496 Flowers in June (back to old swing): .333/.429/.800/1.229 (30 ABs)
  5. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 12:46 AM) Flowers is starting to hit the crap out of the ball in AAA again. We still should trade AJ, while the going is good. I'm with you, but I firmly believe he will still be here by Monday. Just my opinion.
  6. I would say we should create an off-season thread soon here, perhaps in the next couple of weeks when all the parting and appearances for the Hawks start dying down a bit. I would love to hear some of the views here from posters with our salary cap situation, who you would keep/trade, etc.. (Toews won the CS, which also kicks in another 1.3 mil added to the cap is worth noting too.... ouch though I know for sure noone would rather have it any other way)
  7. Geez.. not a good day for sox picks.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 10:06 PM) Does UZR even apply to catchers? QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 10:09 PM) Nope. They use Plus/Minus to evaluate catcher defense at this point. I was gonna say that doesn't sound right... Thought I was losing it from being a bit tired though.

I would say once first half seasons are done, you might see changes. (mostly like Bellamy to AA perhaps) I just hope a guy like Sale signs quickly than most 1st round picks we sign. Still bummed to not see Mitchell, Thompson, etc.. on a box score.
  10. QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 06:50 PM) Alex Gordon, 3B Probably a pipe dream but i'd love to have him. I would want him as a seller also. Me, J4L, yourself, Bolt, etc.. love the guy.
  11. There is no way I'm getting fooled with this team beating up on the Cubs (and pretty much the NL) prior to the last series. After inter-league is over and when the sox are still doing this against AL opponents, then I will take them seriously again. I'm with T-Bolt on the trade A.J. bandwagon, though I wanted to trade Andruw Jones weeks ago when his average was still in the .260s cause I knew he would slip there like he did last year. His OPS is still very good, though it was solid last year too actually despite the low average.
  12. Alright Slav. It's been 3 pages and you have yet to respond to your own thread. What is your opinion?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 07:17 PM) D2...it's virtually impossible for him to succeed if he can't cut his k rate by 25-40%. D2 doesn't have the power to pull off decent numbers if he's striking out 150+ times a year; he'd be a weaker version of BJ Upton/Grady Sizemore/Curtis Granderson. Those guys succeed with 150ish K's a year, but they're not turning into the kind of MVP's that they could be, and D2 currently doesn't have their kind of power. You are pretty much arguing with yourself Balta about Danks 2. I've been knowing about Danks, and I don't think anyone here would disagree with you there.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 06:11 PM) Huh? I'm the one worried he needs to cut down on the K's, like the rest of the org. You mentioned K's and power actually. But ya K's was one of them as well, though his walk rate has been pretty good to as opposed to Danks. (not to mention the lack of power from him)

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 06:00 PM) Flowers homered. His 4th in 6 games. Not that he had to cause he was already doing well in the power department prior, but I think he listened to Balta and took it to heart.
  16. QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 05:52 PM) Thank you to those of you defending me and Chase!! I appreciate it a lot. All I'm here for is to be a positive person in Chase's life ..remind him when he gets frustrated that all he can do is keep his head up and not sweat the small things!! I thought trying to get more people behind him would be an encouragement to him. It's not like I'm on here trying to fill anyone's head with BS about Chase, I post negatives just the same as I would a positive. I'm not all about "Oh, Chase Blackwood is the best Baseball player in the world" pfff, that would just be naive ..and that, I am not! I know we haven't seen much from him so far this season and I know all about the .532 OPS ..this is Chase's 2nd season pro and he hasn't seen consistent batting time for any of it ..Chase is doing a lot better now and will only continue to do so!! So, by all means, post the numbers, they aren't something I haven't seen before!! We have had quite a few minor leaguer's friend(s), mom/dad/relative(s) and now a fiancee. I still remember a minor leaguer's friend or mom (I can't remember) getting into it with a poster here 4 or 5 years ago defending their guy. I'm just glad that a guy in our affiliate knows about futuresox/soxtalk (just like a few front office people). The more, the merrier, and it helps with future interviews for our soxtalk posters who are also futuresox guys working countless hours to put out a great website over there. Wouldn't mind seeing Chase post here from time to time (or give a good interview for our sister site in futuresox) if he wants as well. We will add him to the McCarthys the Bullards, the Bajaneros, the Andersons, the Fields, the Morels etc.. of guys who either post here or were in interviews there. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 05:56 PM) I'm sure if he gets a chance to catch Chris Sale, you guys will be lining up to hear what he had to say about it. No doubt about it, and for me personally, not just Sale. (who knows where he could be in W-S too) I would love to hear from a couple of arms who we just drafted, or guys who look promising from who I remember last year (not to mention keep telling him to pick on Dan Black. )
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 06:49 PM) That's why I didn't even respond back. Nothing good would come about it. It's obvious in her mind dude is Barry Bonds. And there is nothing wrong with that. Hell if I ever get married (god forbid.. ) in my mind, my wife would look like _________*insert beautiful cover model's name.* Could care less if anyone thinks she isn't THAT hot, she is to me.
  18. Oh now that is a great name. Well done Shipps.
  19. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 06:32 PM) That being said GO MEXICO :headbang
  20. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 05:14 PM) You knew exactly what you were doing when you posted that. But, I certainly am not going to sit here and say it was an "attack". It was just kind of a tacky post at that point in the thread. Pretty much the usual "asshole/douche" post from Steve. If you know him like most of us do, it ain't no thang.
  21. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 06:20 PM) This is our run...Albeit, against the NL, but this is going to be nice for the next few weeks. Sums it up. Not going to get excited one bit till after the NL series, but I'll gladly take beating up on the Cubs to shut up Cub fans to do that.
  22. Beating up on the Cubs... gotta love it.
  23. More pressure situations for the rookie here.
  24. Silva still pitched a very good game from all accounts. I know our offense isn't exactly great, but I still thought he could score about 4-6 runs off him. Also GREAT outing by Buehrle today.
