I am on the Shipers, Tillman and Guy bandwagon for later picks. I also like Brown as a supp. to second/third pick for us.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 10:01 PM) This mock draft has Wimmers and Workman in the 20's, and the Sox taking a high school SS. http://www.mymlbdraft.com/MLB-Mock-Draft-2010 I would LOVE Castellanos. He, Colon or O'Connor would make me happy. I HOPE the sox take a position player with their 1st pick, but I just don't see it happening in any way, shape or form so I'm slowly dieing to our next pitcher Wojo, Workman or Wimmers. Prove me wrong sox! (BTW, if Whitson falls that far in the draft, and we don't take him, I'm going to be pissed) QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 10:12 PM) There's no way that the A's take Cox if he wants that kind of money. He will fall. And if he really wants that kind of money, he might be seeing a Denard Span-like plummet down a lot of boards. There are gonna be a few prospects that fall, believe me. I still got Austin Wilson falling to the second, possibly third round in my personal mock.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 10:39 PM) Watched Colon yesterday, and he really impressed me. Sounds like he might go higher than expected. If we want him, have to take him with the 13 pick. I like him alot too, but then at times he scares me when I do watch him. I think he is legit enough to stick at SS with his range however. I would MUCH rather us take a position player with our 1st round pick instead of a pitcher though. Take your pitcher next season in a stronger draft, not to mention we already have a rotation of youth for a while. I would say draft someone to try and pair with Beckham and go with a LHP (high school or college) in the supp. rounds unless we suck so much next year, that a stud position player will fall to us anyways, but next year's draft is so deep you couldn't go wrong either way.
-
Is there a chance in hell Christian Colon slips to the supp. picks or is he a forgone 1st rounder? I've been up and down with him, but it would be really nice to draft a shortstop to build with Beckham. I doubt we pick O'Connor who I know Joe likes alot and I'm starting to jump on the bandwagon too. I would rather us draft a position player this year in the 1st and a pitcher in a stronger draft next year in the 1st, but thats just me.

Well... I was right with you on #1 at least....

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
SoxAce replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
What a game to watch! That Hawks team had a TON more energy and the "want" in that one. I don't think I ever yelled as loudly of a hit before when Byfuglien decked Pronger. -
Ima say Wojo myself. With Workman and Wimmers as the other options sadly. It WILL be a pitcher no doubt.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 05:51 PM) His OPS on the road is .746. He's not doing that well. Escobar, meanwhile, is on fire. He's also hitting for more power than Gilmore and I'm going to keep bringing that up. He has to be more challenged at this rate. He is 24 and still in high A. And unless you mean for XBH (gap power) then you would be wrong everytime. Gilmore has 3 homers to Escobars 2. (Escobar with only 6 less official ABs)

QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 04:48 PM) So, does this mean they will lose on Tuesday? They have to start a winning streak eventually now is a good time as any. Probably. As I've said many times, don't let this team fool you. They will go on a 1-2 (maybe even 3 in you get lucky) game winning streak then proceed to lose 3-4 (sometimes 5) in a row or lose pretty much alot of the series games. (like this one actually) I got my hopes up a couple months ago after the Mariners/Marlins series thinking this team has turned the corner.... Don't be delusional here.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 02:58 PM) Kearns looks amazing out there. I know a few people wanted the Sox to pursue him this offseason. Yes, I was leading the charge.. guilty. -

Wow... who is this Bobby Jenks?! Looks like the 2005-2006 version. -
Short has almost equaled half of his walk total for the entire season in one game. Greene with another great day. Promote the damn man! Colligan is looking like a really impressive prospect.

Since you usually start these b-day threads, it wouldn't be fair for you to start one on our own birthday. Happy 37th B-Day Jeremy. SHIPPS is a terrible admin.... for editing posts.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 12:13 AM) but Billy Wagner has to be one of the biggest freaks to ever play baseball. I mean that in the talented way, and not the scary way. I laugh cause that man really is amazing. Crazy to think he used to throw right-handed. I am convinced when he is age 50, he will probably still bring it at 93-95 mph. Future hall of famer for sure.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 12:14 AM) The frustrating thing is that they're letting it continue. Just DFA Williams, and call up Torres to be the long man. Ozzie loves his second lefty relievers though! I think I sound like a broken record by saying this many times... My biggest beef with KW since the off-season was not finding that other good LHP (no not LOOGY... LHP) to pair with Thornton in the pen. I KNEW for a fact going with freaking Randy Williams was not gonna be good at all.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 12:10 AM) and Pena gets to stop pitching the garbage innings. That Torres guy (or Hudson) would have looked good for us early on.. but I don't blame sox management at all for knowing Pena would have to be pitching that many mop-up innings, cause of how brutal our rotation has been.

**White Sox vs. Tribe 6/5 Game Thread** 6:05 CT WGN
SoxAce replied to Brian's topic in 2010 Season in Review
Remember though.. this is Marty who has been spot on with signings/trades in the past, he docsox, Spataro, etc.. are very good in rumors and such and I trust alot. Only reason I would question it is cause it was a friend this time though Marty not the usual "connections." -
QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 10:13 PM) I would be willing to trade everyone with the exception of Danks, Beckham, and Santos. I think we need to seriously consider dealing Rios. I kinda agree with you actually. I think people are getting carried away of a couple of months of hot baseball from him (he has been a solid hitter over the years I know) and with the others sucking. Funny thing is, we heard the same stuff about Peavy last year in only 3 starts cause of his track record, as an untouchable for us by people. Rios' value may never be higher and he is still in his prime for teams even with the contract. (which looks waaaay more affordable now cause he is hitting, I remember last year posters here saying it was an albatross) The ONLY reason I would hesitate on Rios is because we really don't have a stud CF in the minors, who can step in right away. My guys I still want here are Floyd, Danks and Beckham. Everyone other than Peavy and Rios (who will probably stay cause of their contracts and I will put Buehrle in this too only because I love the son of a b****) is fair game. I love Santos, but I'm still not THAT sold on him, not yet to put as an untouchable. (we will obviously keep the kid however, especially with him being very cheap and has a good arm) QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 10:14 PM) Thornton needs to be trade becasue his value has never been higher. Honestly, i don't see us being able to resign him either. Thornton's value has been insane for like 3 years now. Every GM knows he is a beast/what he is about. In fact.. I remember one GM gushing him up not too long ago (Theo?)

47 year old Jaime Moyer pitched another complete game. Hard to believe he nearly retired from the game back in 1995, now look at him... STILL going.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 07:38 PM) He jumped past AA surprisingly fast. It's ok to be patient with him. The normal schedule was supposed to be AA this year, AAA next year. Better to get the AAA struggles done early. Agreed. I find it very helpful he only has 1 SO in 3 games (15 ABs), so he is not getting over-matched up there at all. He just hasn't found the hits yet. Santos Rodriguez, after his brutal start, has settled in quite nicely for W-S especially his last few outings. (only 1 BB the last 6 games)

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 07:40 PM) There are only a handful of assistant coaches that everyone who's a serious NBA fan knows their name. Thibodeau has been in that group since at least 2008. Pretty much sums it up. I think people forget that VDN NEVER coached in ANY LEVEL in his life.

I fuknihg hate shady ass feidns that is fucng alll!! Ima edit this typing slowly as can be with water by my side for alittle bit now (time). Ok... I f***ing hate shady ass friends/people. That is all.

There are big rumors now that the Bulls might hire Scottie Pippin to be an assistant. If that happens WOW, that is a big F U to Wade. Plus I like it cause he isn't a fan of Hinrich like myself.
