  1. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Mar 21, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) I'll pass on Cotts until he develops more reliable pitches than a short-armed fastball. Cotts is not the answer, it takes hitters less than one at bat to figure out he will throw that fastball in a pinch, and they will knock it over the centerfield concourse when it happens. This lands on Bmac, and if not Bmac, Hermanson. -y2 Then they better get BMac and Hermanson offa that bloody concourse
  2. Alvarez taps back to the mound and is thrown out at first. Final 4-3 bad guys.
  3. Sox 9th. Pop out by first hitter. Don't know who it was (Crede anyone!). Valdez walk on 4 pitches. Podsednik forces Valdez at 2nd. 2 out runner on 1st. Pods steals 2nd uncontested. Iguchi singles in a run. 4-3 bad guys. Gload reaches first on a questionable single by the shortstop. 1st and 3rd 2 out. Widger walked. Bases loaded. Outfielder Tony Alvarez up.
  4. Adkins pitching. Figgins walk. Pride grounded into a double play 6-4-3. Then the crap began. DaVanon single. Allen infield single. Kotchman double to tie the game. Great job by Anderson to prevent the Angels from taking the lead on that hit. Tie game, runners on 2nd and 3rd. Quinlan single to score 2, Quinlan caught in run down. 3 out. 9th inning 4-2 bad guys.
  5. Sox fail to score in the 8th. Widger K. Alvarez bloop double. Felix Martinez K. Anderson K.
  6. Adkins relieved Diaz. First hitter single to create a first and third with 2 out. Then a fielder's choice 6-4 to end the inning. Top of the 8th. 2-1 good guys.
  7. The single was Diaz's second hitter faced. He has just been lifted By Ozzie due to an injury.
  8. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 20, 2005 -> 05:58 PM) what did our hitters do in the 6th? I'm not sure how accurate this is, but I think Konerko led off with a double, was smartly advanced by someone to third and then Crede did what he does best and popped out to make it 2 out, Konerko on third. Sweeney then grounded a sharp single to left and we are leading 2 to 1 as a result. Diaz has been brought in with 2 out and nobody on in the 7th. He just gave up a single.
  9. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 06:23 PM) The Comcast Sports Net radar gun is f***ed up. Buehrle threw a pitch that was 62, and it was clearly a fastball. A few days back, they had McCarthy at 87-88 all day, when really it looked at least 91-92... Anyone else notice this? I think you were taking note of McCarthy's ability to add and subtract off the fastball, instead of full bore all the time, as Ozzie described it. I saw the gun show 92 for his fastball on 2 occasions.
  10. I had businesss to attend to last night and was not able to watch any of the proceedings. I would like to thank all the participents for the updates and the creation of a fascinating thread.
  11. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) Widger is my hero. He hits a single that knocks in one run and makes in first and third one out. How did the second and third runs score?
  12. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) Rowand grounds into an inning ending double play in the third. Where are you getting your information?
  13. Is anyone watching the game with MLB TV, that can keep the rest of us informed?
  14. QUOTE(El Caballo @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) Stewart has yet to fully recover from that line drive shot he got in bmore. As for Sanders he started out the 03 season with the sox but was sent back down because of his mediocre performance and plus they needed someone to go down in order to bring up a fifth starter, if I remember correctly. Stewart is starting today against the Royals. I was at that game in Baltimore. He barely flinched after getting hit and threw the runner out at first.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) Ozuna had a double today and made a decent play. One thing I notice is his arm isn't near as good as Uribe's, but whose is, lol. I think he actually had 2 doubles. Both of them rockets to the opposite field. And although he doesn't have Uribe's arm, he made a nice play in the hole to get Mathis in the 6th.
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 06:38 PM) Ya, they showed the replay and it definately caught the strike. It was a sweet backdoor curve. Stoney made a funny comment saying if that pitch wasn't called a strike when he was on the mound his career would of lasted half an inning. It's so sweet to see a Sox pitcher control the the oppostion like that. And there was nothing gimicky about it. It not like he has something that the opposition is going to catch onto. Just straight command, composure and an unnatural amount of intuitiveness using the standard 4-seam, curve and changeup.
  17. QUOTE(Yoda @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 05:58 PM) No doubt he is dominating opposing hitters here in Spring Training. Went 6 innings allowing 2 unearned runs! Not to mention that he allowed his first walk of the Spring Training. He’s just like Buehrle, IMO. He knows how to throw strikes and gets outs right away. We got a look at how he pitches out of jams this afternoon and he does a good job of it. I’m hoping we can see him in our rotation for next season. The walk that he gave up was to Figgins and the only reason it went to a 3 ball count was because the umpire completely blew a 1 ball 2 strike curve that caught all of the plate. It was such a nice curve that I thing the ump was as frozen as Chone.
  18. I counted 10 pitchers in this game and McCarthy was easily the best. Although Hermanson looked good too. I really love the way he changes speeds. Says he throws his changeup with his ring finger, his pinky and his thumb. Says although there is talk of adding a 2 seam fastball at some point, the general feeling is somebody has to score a run off him before they start tinkering with him. Gotta love it. By the 3rd and 4th it started to look like he was toying with the Angeles. They had resorted to 'feeling' for the ball rather than taking any kind of real cut at it. And he looked completely unaffected when runners got on.
  19. I think the game is being broadcast on Ottawa as well. I too am very excited.
  20. Holy crap! 4 pints later and the comeback is complete. I see the makings of a trend here.
  21. Fly out, then single to score the 8th run. Borchard bobbles ball, allowing runner to advance to 2nd, then flyout to Borchard. I'm out to make a dent in my beer case.
  22. Ground out to Harris. Advances runner to third. One out man on third. Then double (3rd of the inning of Meaux). 7-3
  23. Inning opening back to back doubles for the Rockies of Meaux. 6-3. No one out in the 8th.
  24. Rogowski fly out . 3 down. Rockies up. 5-3 bad guys.
  25. Strike out. Passed ball. 2 out. 5-3 with the runner scoring from third.
