  1. Ozuna singles, Widger decoyed into holding at 3rd. Bases loaded, one out. Burke up.
  2. Widger and Harris with singles. 1st and 2nd. One out Ozuna up.
  3. I am intermittently following via the internet radio. 5-2 Rockies. Last of the seventh. Meaux walked in the 5th run with a bases loaded walk. One out for the Sox in the bottom of the 7th.
  4. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) Indeed. What is Kevin Walker doing? I guess there is a rain delay :headshake
  5. QUOTE(daa84 @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) fields nice barehanded play to get hairston to end inning I was allowed back in. I got the logged in too many times message from both sites for a bout 15 minutes. Thanks for the update.
  6. I had something strange happen. I lost the feed a couple of times because I was foolng around with REAL PLAYER (making a CD) and MLB.com Gameday Audio wouldn't let me log back in. It gives me the following message: Your account has been logged in too many times. Please try again later. I'm going to have to follow this thread for the ending I guess. Not that that is a bad thing.
  7. QUOTE(JimH @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) I'm wondering if the final roster spot doesn't come down to Willie Harris vs. Jamie Burke. Of course, lots of things can happen in spring training and other opportunities arise. Even still ... 11 pitchers, 4 OF, Everett as the DH, 2 catchers, 2 1B, Iguchi, Uribe, Crede. That's 23. For the utility IF let's say Valdez for the sake of discussion. That's 24. So for now it appears to come down to Harris or Burke. If Ozzie carries 12 pitchers both Harris and Burke are on the outside looking in. But I doubt he carries more than 11 arms. The advantage to Harris is he is a safety net for Iguchi, without the utility IF having to step in at 2B. Harris also plays CF and adds speed. The advantage to Burke is he can play 3B, catch, play 1B, and arguably the corner OF spots. He hits right and they need a RH hitter off the bench. There are two keys ... one, does Harris have minor league options left? Two, can either Ozuna or Valdez play 3B? The other issue ... when Thomas comes back the 25th guy gets bumped, and Burke appears to be a guy who they can get through waivers pretty easily. Barring a trade and based on what Ozzie said today about the utility guy needing to play SS, I can definitely see the last spot coming down to Harris or Bu Maybe it's just me, but I'm getting the feeling more and more that Willie is here to stay -- for now, at least. I think Ozzie likes the fact that he still has a pretty solid replacement incase Iguchi or Podsednik falters, and you know Ozzie will use Harris late in the games to steal a base. As much as everyone here would love for this to happen, I get the feeling 2nd base isn't going to be handed to Iguchi. But who knows... I just hope Iguchi impresses enough that he not only takes a stranglehold of 2nd, but that he also changes Ozzie's mind about hitting 9th and moves into the number 2 hole.
  8. QUOTE(FGarcia34 @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) I thought about doing that MLB.tv thing last year while I was at the Univ of Iowa, but I decided to go with the cheaper alternative and go with the Gameday Audio deal which is 14.95. It's a good alternative if you dont want to spend 80 bucks. The streaming quality was not good enough for me. I also went with the Gameday Audio. The only time I had a really clear picture was when the pitcher or hitter were not moving. Otherwise it was kind of blurry. Very hard to follow the flight of the ball. I am not a PC whiz, but I think you need certain minimum requirements, or the quality is lacking.
  9. Seems like an unfortunate time to become available through the posting system, as MLB teams have been scrambling for 3 months to assemble rosters. Many of them, like the Sox, have a budget and have maxed out.
  10. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 04:41 AM) I have heard japanese baseball considered ''4a''. Considering the length of time that the Japanese have displayed tremendous passion for baseball, it makes sense that their quality is high. LDF Posted Today, 06:54 AM why isn't there more influx of those players this offseason? I'll bet there will be considerable more interest in the coming years.
  11. With the new attitudes, speed, well roundedness and added pitching depth, this club should not only do better, but be a lot more fun to watch and follow!
  12. QUOTE(Nokona @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) Since when do they have cars in Canada? WE HAVE ALL THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY!
  13. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) On the numbers, supposedly he changed his batting stance before the 2003 season and experienced a breakthrough. On the SS thing, he hasn't played SS since 2000 ... seems to me it wouldn't be wise to count on him there. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) Those 2003, 2004 numbers look like you'd get from guys in the states who'd been hanging out w/ Bonds trainer . At least he'd only be a platoon guy. Your pal wee Willie amy just get enough of a spark from the competition to "live up to his potential". [prob. not] Just as JimH stated, he changed his batting stance. One of the direct results, supposedly, was that he stopped being a dead pull hitter. For the last 2 years he has been going with the pitch. Hopefully, this is the case and we will end up with a good contact #2 hitter with a respectable OBP. While I'm at it, might as well hope for an aggressive running approach and solid D.
  14. it BETTER be Pods. QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 01:09 PM) i think Pods is the one that we all want to have the biggest impact...but realistically it will be Dye or AJ I agree. I love speed. We haven't had anyone to push the opposition into making mistakes since the Law/Cruz days. And this includes Raines, who appeared to be more concerned with protecting his high career stolen bases/ attempts percentage, while with the Sox. And here's hoping that AJ's mouth similarily, unsettles the hitters.
  15. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) Weird. I wish someone here was fluent in Japanese so they could translate the article correctly into English for us. Where's Shingo or Timo when ya need em? No kidding. Given the number of current members, you'd think we would have an in house translator.
  16. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) What was the "screw mosquito" comment? Furthermore as for club staff of the カージナルス " it is not moving to acquisition ", club staff of the アストロズ " it comes and the correct second base hand of season screw mosquito I - has been decided with the no ", you declare. It is seen as just the ホ troop that concrete offer is put out.
  17. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 12:23 PM) The Lead Sox aren't interested in Iguchi. They just re-signed Mark Bellhorn to start at 2B and traded for Ramon Vazquez to be their backup 2B and SS. Iguchi doesn't really have any other options but us if he wants playing time. Considering the value of honour in the Far East, coupled with Bellhorn being handed the 1st string job , I would think the Red Sox are out of the running with the 'screw mosquito' comment.
  18. QUOTE(Yossarian @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 08:20 AM) Why are today's pitchers like fine china? Why were some starting pitchers of a generation or so ago often able to pitch 300 or so innings year after year? QUOTE(SoIL @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 11:02 AM) I've heard a couple of interesting theories on arm trouble. One is that players just don't throw as much when they're younger. The thought being that just plain throwing builds arm strength. I rarely, if at all see kids playing pick up games of baseball anymore. Seems like we played several days a week when I was a youngster. The other theory is that pitchers are learning breaking balls at too early an age, putting to much stress on arms that aren't ready to take it. I recently saw a Sports Center report on how common Tommy John surgery is becoming for high school kids. The players interviewed thought having TJ surgery was no big deal. That if they threw their arm out, so what? They'll just get it repaired. I think another factor is the average size of modern day pitchers. The collective number of elbow and shoulder joints are now being taxed by men over 6 feet tall supporting frames that weigh over 200 lbs.
  19. QUOTE(BamaDoc @ Jan 20, 2005 -> 03:41 AM) If he wins utility job does he bat left or right handed? Could spell Willie vs lefties? QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 20, 2005 -> 12:39 AM) Anyone know the answer to this? I'm curious about this as well... He bats righthanded. So far he has faced southpaws only 28 times at the major league level, so the following numbers are, perhaps, not very relevent. FWIW he shows 5 singles for a BA of .179. 3 Ks and 0 walks.
  20. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 07:17 PM) One important note is Ichui's "one condition" of a guaranteed position. Although Red Sox may have a higher offer, Belhorn is their starting 2B. Iguchi would start w/ White Sox. EDIT: Majority of this article may not concern Tadahito Iguchi. Although I assumed "Inokuchi" was Iguchi, 35 yrs old is listed as the age of the player in the article. Iguchi is 30. Maybe the translation is wrong. Let's hope the Red Sox are not preparing to offer Iguchi the starting job! :headshake
  21. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) Are you set up on photobucket or any image hosting site? If not, sign up at photobucket, save that photo to your hard drive and then upload it to photobucket and link from there. Thanks very much. Worked for me!
  22. QUOTE(Scwible @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 11:29 PM) well I'm officially retarded. Shoulda clicked the more dot, not the 640x480 one. Maybe the need for sleep has finally caught up to me. None of the sigs here bother my screen cause it's always set to 1600x1200. If one has a sig or picture that would make me scroll from side to side, then it's hella large. Make that 2 who feel officially retarded. Except in my case it is because I can't get the avatar to work. Every picture that I have chosen from my hard drive returns an error #2, implying 'file not found'. The path looks right to me. I am using Windows XP. Any suggestions anyone?
  23. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 03:37 AM) Hell the Sox can't get enough fans in the US but they are huge in Canada eh? [/color=green] I've been a fan for over 40 years and have never actually met one face to face. Mind you there is a lot of open space here!
  24. QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 03:29 AM) Agreed. Tadahito, would you pretty please sign here? Just Curious, does your name mean Ottawa, Illinois? No. It refers to the Capital of Canada. Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
  25. I have a good feeling about this guy filling the #2 hole and this is exactly what the Sox need.
