Pablo Ozuna

Featured Replies

In my latest issue of Baseball America, it says Pablo Ozuna is batting .344 with 3 homers and 18 rbi's, but more importantly he has 24 stolen bases in 184 at bats in the Domican League. That sick. This guy should beat Valdez for the Utility spot.

Did you just get that issue today? I read the one I got today, didn't see that. Must have missed it.

It's the college preview issue. I advise you all tp pick it up when it hits newsstands, good stuff.

yeah same issue, go to page 58 at the top right corner they got the Domican League, League leaders, he is right there.

Found this interesting tidbit about Ozuna when looking him up.

December 14, 1998: Traded by the St. Louis Cardinals with Armando Almanza and Braden Looper to the Florida Marlins for Edgar Renteria.

Sounds good. :headbang

I like having options if someone were to get injured and miss significant time. Don't want to HAVE to trade and be forced to overpay.

Any chance this kid could out perform Willie for 2B or will he strictly be a back up?

...and how do Dominican League stats translate into MLB numbers?

Honestly. Not being a smart ass here.

wouldnt go by the dominican league stats... less see what he does in spring training but way i see it unless we sign Iguchi Willie is your starting 2B.

btw can anyone gimme a link to order a subscription for this magazine.

I don't think Kid should be used by anyone other than Ozzie to describe Ozuna. --- He's older than Willie. He's one of those guys who aged more than a few years overnight. He's about 30

I get some of the Dominican ;league games here, And he's playing the Outfield too,

No chance in hell. I know there are a lot of Willie bashes but the guy hit .270 and had an OBP of almost .340, which was a LOT better than other players we had last season. If someone's going to replace Willie as the veryday 2B, it'll be Iguchi, Castillo or Durham. And I wouldn't count much into those Dominican Stats either.

If he wins utility job does he bat left or right handed? Could spell Willie vs lefties?

Ya, i remember cerb saying he was a good prospect until he suddenly aged four to six years over night.

Is that the reason why some sites have him at 26 and some at 30 years of age.

They have him as 30. I consider them one of the best sources there are.

Anyone know the answer to this? I'm curious about this as well...

If Ozuna is any good at all he can beat out Valdez. Valdez is almost worthless and doesn't belong on a major league roster.

Is that fair to say? How much of a chance has he really been given?

He does not walk therfore he has no place on a major league team that wants to contend whatsoever.

DBAH0, you're killing me over here. :headshake

Willie hit .262 with a .343 OBP...in the neighborhood of .270, but not quite there, and he was above that .340 clip.

More importantly(to me atleast), he hit .279 .366 .701 against RHP last year. I'm not sure there is a reason at all he should not start against RHP...save the money we are offering to Iguchi and use it on someone at the deadline.

Meh I was close enough, only going off the top of my head here. But yeah if the Sox aren't going to sign Iguchi, at least try to sign an infielder who can hit LHP, Miggy Cairo was that guy, but he'll be at Shea Stadium in 2005.
