  1. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 11:14 PM) Why does the NCAA need Cuban's money? Does anyone really think the schools don't realize more money can be made with a playoff? The lack of a playoff isn't about money. It's about power, tradition, control, tv contracts, etc. Eventually it may happen, but it won't because Mark Cuban throws money at it. fixed that for you. Its 100% about contracts and money.

  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 09:00 AM) The FCC appears poised to vote on the proposal that would legalize companies charging different rates for different content providers and allow things like Comcast limiting access to Netflix. I think we can safely say that the end of the fully free-flowing internet has arrived. That's a little over the top: Via AOL News: This is the first step in the right direction.

  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 09:02 AM) According to Wikipedia it was designed to be capable of expansion up to holding 80,000 which would probably make it an acceptable option...but the alcohol prohibition on campus is probably your biggest issue. ohhh, yea that would be a problem.
  10. could they "renovate" TCF Bank Stadium for $50-100 million to make it acceptable for the Vikings to call home? I know the seating can be expanded, but I didn't know about suites and things like that.
  11. Ziggy Wilf would not mind an outdoor stadium... in LA. On a side note: could they "renovate" TCF Bank Stadium for $50-100 million to make it acceptable for the Vikings to call home? I know the seating can be expanded, but I didn't know about suites and thing like that.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 20, 2010 -> 04:34 PM) and then what the f*** happens My guess? Tuesday afternoon/night game in a dome.
  13. According to ZacZ on The Score, the game could, theoretically, be cancelled tonight. The NFLPA and league officials met and agreed to a set of conditions that must be met to play the game. If they are not all met, the game could be canceled or protested by the NFLPA.

  16. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 18, 2010 -> 09:54 PM) We all know gays in the military are conscientious of federal legislation, and will wait until all the i's have been dotted, and the t's crossed before they enact their plan of "campifying" the armed forces. Our Army is going to have the most FABULOUS uniforms...

  20. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 17, 2010 -> 02:20 PM) It was also extremely shortsighted to give the Twins a stadium before the Vikings. Baseball franchises are much less in demand than football franchises. It was unlikely the Twins could find a new home or threaten to leave. Contraction would have been an option.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 09:19 PM) Originally there was a proposal to do that, but the stadium itself would have been more expensive (probably would have had to be a dome to operate more in the winter). TCF cost under $200 million, the cost for a joint stadium would have been about $300-$500 million, so the joint option was voted down. What I dont understand is why they decided to vote down one stadium worth $500 million, and that opened up the possibility of TWO stadiums that combined would cost well over $500 million. BRILLIANT!
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 04:21 PM) Its not about the NFL, its about the owners and the state. Minnesota has made some decisions that really make no sense. They built a new stadium for the Twins and the Gophers, but they left the Vikings in the Metrodome. If LA or another city comes calling and offers money to build a stadium, why would the Vikings stay? You cant just point to the Jaguars and fans, because that isnt the issue. The issue is a new facility, and the Jaguars stadium is relatively new. Also the Jaguars likely owe money on the stadium or have a long term lease, so its not financially viable. Whereas the Vikings lease ends in 2011 so they wont have to pay any damages for breach. why didnt the Vikings and Gophers just build a joint stadium for the two of them. wouldnt that have made more economical sense?
  23. Well, the dome problem wont help keep the Vikings in Minny
