QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 01:00 PM) Haha, I will admit, I've seen a couple of the movies....and never seen any single TV episode of star trek in full. you're on my blacklist now

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 12:47 PM) Longshot....did the Angels try to sign Konerko years ago, yes. Have the Angels been long-tied to Konerko in rumors pretty much every year since he ultimately signed with the White Sox...yes. So how you go as far as saying the Angels would have no interest in Konerko is pretty ridiculous. DING!

I can say from personal experience that I once witnessed Mario stepping out of class to take a phone call and when i talekd to him later it was about a potential trade. So, these guys just aren't making stuff up.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 11:49 AM) Cowley's Interview on The Score ok, just had a chance to listen to the interview, he says Gonzales only wrote about the deal because it was an attempt to "cross promote" the Trib's ChicagoNow blog site which hosts SoxNet.net. What a piece of crap and a low blow.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 12:15 PM) My Email to Cowley: Well done.

Cowley's Interview on The Score

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 11:44 AM) Just read the two articles on this topic written by the two main beat reporters - Mark Gonzales of the Trib, and Joe Cowley of the Sun Times - and you can clearly see why one paper and one writer are generally respected for sports reporting, and the other paper and writer are looked at as jokes. MG's artcile is well written Mark Gonzales - "a team source acknowledged last month that the club has had interest in Gonzalez in previous years." Is this the first he's mentioned what his source told him? If so, it only backs up the SoxNet info. He might have just been keeping the info under wraps, but now that it's out he can say it.

Here's some nice spin from Michelle Malkin: So, Palin didn't go "Rogue" against the GOP, she went "Rogue" against her won campaign.

SEXIST!

Palin is a far right goddess. Simple as that. She is an idol.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 11:20 AM) To me, the ability of the common man to share information makes twitter and message boards a really powerful set of tools for a fan. I dont really buy the argument that all this transparency affects the GMs abilities to do their jobs, either. I am a rather large Disney fan and there is one message board I am on that has a few real good "insiders" and i think it's really great to see what's coming before anyone else does.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 11:12 AM) But was this just a case where KW called and asked about the availability of a player or threw out an offer that was immediately rejected? Seems like there would be 100s of these types of calls going on throughout the season with several teams. Not sure why this one needed to be singled out and artificially elevated to its current status. I mean look at this 400 post thread. What is it all based on? Fair enough, but if there is a talk of a three way deal, that tends to imply a little more seriousness than calling the Yankees to see if Jeter was available.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 11:09 AM) Many times he has mentioned things that dont happen. I suppose if you have a source, you just give the boards all your info, and sometimes I suppose negotiations go through. And the 75% it doesnt go thru, you take heat. Exactly. You can have insider information that never comes to be because it either fell through or it was never as serious as other may have thought it to be. Ideally you want your source to be the lead guy, like Williams of Reinsdorf, but that's rarely the case. It's often a "lower" person who is part of the negotiations or scouts, or whoever. Sometimes they will eb right, others wrong. it comes with the business.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 11:09 AM) I dont claim to know or read Cowley's article, but the sign of a poor argument is personal attacks. The statement, "written in the basement of a trekkie turned blogger ", is completely irrelevant. that's just how Cowley attacks. He's a very strange man. Go back and read some of his stuff around the time of when the bears played the Steelers.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 10:59 AM) To play devil's advocate, what was the purpose of posting something like this if it's in such a preliminary stage and there isn't a any verifiable source to link this to? Wouldn't you expect people like Cowley to laugh at it? To get the scoop. It's basic reporting. if you have a source.. and preferably two or three sources that tell you the same thing... you run with it. I dont know if SoxNet was using a single source, or multiple, but if they believe they can trust the person, you run with it.

QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 08:52 AM) Sounds like Joe Cowley is jealous that people on this site have sources that are better than his. Here are his last few tweets: Sun-Times first reported the Sox were interested in Adrian Gonzalez back on Oct. 6, and was informed by the club couldn’t happen. Then some site called SoxNet.net – written in the basement of a trekkie turned blogger – jumps n the pile late with no sources. The sad part? Poor Gonzo is told by his dictator SE to give validity to a blog on their own website like it’s to be taken seriously. I read those a little bit ago and thought to myself "sour grapes".

QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 11:44 PM) http://www.yardbarker.com/author/article_external/1577618 Someone close to the PADS says no deal. "the team has had 'no such discussions'" yet AG was oddly left out of their most recent publications. Yea, AG will be gone by opening day.

Boers and Bernsie referenced SoxNet (Chicago Now specifically) :headbang Bernsie loves the idea... called it "tantalizing".
