Clinton's Moving Goal Posts: Now the Popular Vote First it was delegates. Then it was who won big states. Then it was who won only the primary states. Then it was superdelegates. Now... it's the popular vote that is most important. Interviewed on MSNBC Hillary top adviser Terry McAuliffe continued their efforts to make the case that the pledged del count isn't the metric for who wins.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 09:06 AM) And then Obama becomes "just another politician." This will not end well for Democrats. I have an interesting point. the campaign doesnt have to talk about it. All the have to do is say they MAY and the media runs with it from there. (Clinton has been doing this all year) We are talking about it now, arent we?

QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 09:16 AM) I have no idea what cattle futures is all about but I doubt Obama will be bringing up the Lewinsky or Whitewater anytime soon. Hillary Clitnon was caught conducting insider trading of cattle futures, but was not caught until the statute of limitations was up. The Clintons would not release their taxes from the late 70s/early 80. It wasnt until they were forced to release them that it was found.

NC GOP group to run "Rev. Wright" video attacking Obama and his supporters RNC... DONT!
-
I dont agree with him doing this, but two can play at this game Ms. Clinton... Will Obama Campaign Start Hitting Hillary Over Whitewater And Cattle Futures? Let's forget about Obama dubious connections that were not illegal (but stupid) and look at how the Clinton's committed several crimes.

QUOTE (pierard @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 11:41 PM) So its a 10% win for Clinton. This race is never going to end. Whatever event could extend the race seems almost a certainty to occur. So, what does Clinton need next to stay in the race, and where is a gambling site where I can bet on it happening? She needs IN. If she loses NC (VERY likely) and IN there is absolutely no way for her to win. But if she wins IN, she can fight t win the over all popular vote.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 09:33 PM) still, i think 8 points will stick. I'm so sick of this dem. race. Montgomery and Chester County still have a lot to report. I think it'll drop to 6. There was projected to be between 2 million to 2.5 million who voted. That means with 76% of PRECINCTS in, 348,570-848,570 votes have yet to be counted.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 09:23 PM) CNN has Hillary up 8% pts with 67% of the vote in. A lot of the area around Philly is not in yet

I think she won because Chelsea went gay bar hoping

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 09:09 PM) As long as it stays single digit percentage, Obama should be ok, correct? I suck at this stuff. Looks like once the PA suburbs are in, Clinton will win by around 5% or so. Maybe up to 7%. This is far froma huge win for her. not a game change. it freezes people like it did after TX and OH. but nothing major. not a game changer.
-
Best line of the night from a Clinton supporter... "look at the shear grit of the candidate. look how she has fought." What grit?? She was up 20 six weeks ago and is going to win by just 4-6 points. Yea, look at that grit that cant hold a lead and might have not even had THIS big of a lead if it werent for lapel pin-gate and bitter-gate. She LOST PA, even if she won it.

MSNBC calls it for Clinton. but i still think this is a 5 point game. According to CNN's website, they haven't projected a winner yet.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 07:05 PM) I think that everyone would read a 52-48 result as essentially playing Taps. In normal person reality, yes. not in ClintonLand. This is a resounding win to them. She carried another major state. Therefor Obama is unelectable.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 07:26 PM) She needs an AWFUL lot more than 7. She needed a big score here to close the gap. Obama can simply split races through the end of June, and by then he'd have it in the bag. She needed double digits to at least make some of the metrics start going her way, especially with North Carolina likely to offset a chunk of this one and Indiana and Oregon looking like decent Obama territory. I agree 100%, but 7+ makes her "viable" to many including herself. A LOSS of delegates is a HUGE blow. I have said since TX and OH that this was over.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 06:05 PM) Well, I'm not trying to Jinx it, but I think that everyone would read a 52-48 result as essentially playing Taps. ESPECIALLY if he ties or wins more delegates. Her whole "press to the end" is based on delegates. If she cant take away at LEAST 7 here, she as a real hard road to climb even WITH superdelegate support.
-
Of note: Chuck Todd said this morning that if Clinton only wins by 4, Obama may tie or net MORE delegates than her.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 06:59 PM) They didn't call Ohio until about 10-20% of the votes were counted. Too close to call can be a relative thing. Ohio exit polls showed her winning 54-44 and she won 54-44 Today they show her winning 51.64-47.78. That's Clinton plus almost 4. And as I said earlier, exit polls have been typically within 1.5%.
-
Too Close to Call is VERY good for Obama
-
MSNBC Exit Polls: Clinton: 51.640 Obama: 47.780
-
MSNBC: Penn TOO CLOSE TO CALL!

God Bless Tim Russert. When asked about why Obama cant finish Clinton off, he said something that was so dead on and so accurate that in my opinion it shuts this debate about "finishing off" Hillary. he said, the reason Obama cant beat is WHITE WOMEN. Think about it. Obama has Black support, Clinton has women support and they more or less split white males. He said if Hillary where a WHITE MALE, this would be over and Obama the candidate. But she has such fervent support among white woman there is no way for him to overcome that. Just like she cant over come the black vote. He hit it right on the head!

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 06:28 PM) but i think you guys give him too much credit. he (along with all his followers of other right wing radio people) went crazy about McCain being the nominee and McCain still destroyed Huckabee. his pull isn't as big as you think. only the most hardcore of ditto heads is going to go out and register as a dem 30 before a primary as to vote hillary You cant ignore the fact that the republican winds changed when he started his littl eoperation.
-
QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 05:16 PM) CNN reported that 60% of new Dem voters went for Obama. That cheater. MSNBC isn't really a news channel IMO. 10% of voters in the Dem primary were actually Republicans there to mess stuff up? yeaaaaa riiiiiight If the republican vote is over 50% in favor of Clinton, it was an attempt to sabotage. Until Rush started his "Operation Chaos", Obama was getting 70+% of the republican vote.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 05:56 PM) The CNN article I'm reading has Clinton wiht 55% of "White males", not just males. ohhhhh ok. Where i saw the numbers they didnt say white. Edit: It did say white men, I just missed it. my bad.
