Just a reminder about my link below. I'll get the "battle state" data in first, then fill out the others when I have a chance.

CNN is reporting that the Romney internal polls have him down 5 to Obama in Ohio.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 10:01 AM) It's mainly the "gut-feeling" pundit class that is pushing back against the onslaught of stats. It's no different than the reaction of people like Joe Morgan to sabermetrics. If numbers and process can quantify it and remove the fog, then they can't talk about their horserace crap for the 12 months prior to the election. Just the other day I was thinking about this and thought of the same basic comparison. Pundits hate metrics because it essentially limits their ability to predict and they cant "fudge" numbers. While more open minded people are willing to look at states as real and often predictable.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 02:14 PM) Open source I think is a horrible idea. Why not just put a sign up that says "please hack us"? Better to have the source code reviewed by a nonpartisan agency for all new versions that come out? No print-outs, just software analysts looking for problems and testing, then turning the machines back over. That also gives you the benefit of being able to check for software changes (via object compares) on machines in actual use later. I can agree to that. There are very easy ways to include checks to make sure no code ever changes.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 10:35 AM) Id rather not get rid of 11/11 seeing as that is a world holiday. There really is no reason that election day cant just be a holiday on its own. I am sure employers would rather not give their people another payed holiday. So, many would probably argue if you want to add a new holiday, another needs to be removed. I picked to merge Veterans and Memorial day because.. lets be honest, on most memorial day observances, we already honor current veterans.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 10:25 AM) It should be a national holiday anyway THIS My personal proposal has been to "merge" Memorial Day and Veterans Day into a single holiday and move the Veterans day holiday to Election Day.

Chrysler gave its entire work force the day off to vote today. That's absolutely a middle finger to Romney.

Note my signature below. I will have a Google Spreadsheet of all the Presidential Exit Poll data as it comes out. In my experience, exit polls rarely differ from more than 1-2 points off the final results. So, if an exit poll shows one candidate by more than 2.5 points, it's a very good indication that candidate will carry the state.

Yesterday's Bears game was by far the most fun I have ever had watching a Bears game. (Note: I am not old enough to remember the 1986 Super Bowl)

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 5, 2012 -> 07:42 AM) By the way, for those who are in favor of a popular vote instead of an electoral college for President (like me, because the popular vote is the only fair method)... there is a path to get there without a Constitutional amendment. And it has already started. As of now, about 12 states have passed conditional laws stating that, if/when all the other states do the same, they will mandate their electors in the electoral college to vote with the winner of the national popular vote. So, as more states do this, if eventually they all do it, you will then effectively have a national vote for President. As more states pass laws like this, there will be enormous pressure on the ones remaining that don't. I think this is an eventuality. Oddly enough, Romney winning the popular vote and losing the electoral college will most likely speed up the process as a lot of red states will jump on board.
